Hidden Update: Bots Dying
If the "legit" players are advertising using auto typers though then they can GTFO and I'm sure they'll get picked up by the new system when it's fully rolled out.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
Some people are saying that a dragon similar to mithril has been coming down and killing the bots recently. Can anyone else confirm?

Well Known RWT'rs banned.
Exactly. Take the recent case of Bob Ashford, Police and Crime Commissioner candidate. He was forced to stand down from the application after it was discovered he was convicted of trespass in 1966 and fined £2. The fact he has been working in the Youth Offending Service for the last 30 years still didn't mean he was able to go for the top job that he wanted because of a silly mistake when he was 13 years old.

Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?
Bloody hell world 1 and 2 are practically off limits for any kind of public chat even WITH the new bot exploding whatsit. It's no wonder the game has been in decline. If that's what I saw when I first started playing RuneScape I'd never play it again.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
This is what Mod Matt K said when I posted about hoping the full system would be faster and pick up different types of spam such as dicers and gamblers not just goldspam.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
Perhaps. But surely the system will know after only a few seconds that an account is doing nothing but say the same message over and over. 5 minutes per bot is still a pretty long time. Not much better than them getting muted by pmods every quarter of an hour.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
It does seem to take a long time before they explode/die though... I hope the full rollout of bo[bleep]ch is faster than that otherwise they will continue the same as before just making a new character as soon as one is banned. It's been a number of years since I went to W1 or 2 and it's still pretty hideous there. What's with the purple dancing dice advertisers too?! Bloody hell I can't imagine starting off as a newb character with that, no wonder the game was in decline!

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
What are you talking about? RuneScapers never read too much into things! If anything we arent looking outside the box ENOUGH!!! Perhaps the animation is meant to signify the dying breath of Aaron the Moor in Titus Andronicus (because it sounds a little bit like a robot name... Titan Androidicus) and because he mentions being muted. O, why should wrath be mute, and fury dumb? I am no baby, I, that with base prayers I should repent the evils I have done: Ten thousand worse than ever yet I did Would I perform, if I might have my will; If one good deed in all my life I did, I do repent it from my very soul.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
Perhaps think of it instead of air suffocation that an invisible hand is holding a clockwork mechanism and stopping it from moving. The strain then builds up until it breaks and then collapses on the floor.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
From what they said in the livestreaming bot-watch is automatic. It would have picked up the things it was saying automatically, possibly waited a few minutes to give benefit of doubt, and then automatically banned them/played the animation. The reporting mechanism feeds into a "heatmap" so Jagex can see which locations are being used for botting. They explained that while bot-watch will pick up bots automatically if you ever see suspicious activity that it hasnt been detected then use the report function. Jagex will then be able to see visually areas which perhaps have not had bots previously and can investigate. @Admins: The word Bot-watch without the dash in the middle gets censored possibly because of the mild swearword "tw.at" in the middle of it. Please update your censors.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
Clickable version of QFC above. [qfc]15-16-283-64002209[/qfc] I thought Botany bay was due on 24th? (according to Mark on the livestream) But botany bay is just a gimmick fun thing, bot-watch is entirely seperate and they may well be bringing in elements of it online prior to that. One of the Jmods on twitter just posted that "Dark vader would be proud of our developers today" I wonder if this is the method that they also talked about in the stream about botting accounts created purely for botting from the outset being instantly banned without the temporary ban/finger of doom.

Hidden Update: Bots Dying
Lol that's awesome. I noticed yesterday evening at the GE that there wasnt a single instance of goldspam. I didn't even see them stood there muted, they just weren't there. The hot/colders were still spamming but absolutely nothing from level 3 bot accounts. In the sunday livestream Mod Mark said that from monday we'd start to see a significant decrease in spam from botting accounts.

Well Known RWT'rs banned.
In the recent RS Livestream they specifically mentioned some people by name that they were going to persue court cases against civilly AND also that they were prepping evidence criminally (this could perhaps be in relation to laundering or tax evasion). In that example they were talking about bot developers but they also mentioned ongoing cases and preparation for cases against gold sellers. Whether anything will ever come to fruition on that we don't yet know but Jagex aren't sitting back any more and letting people make money using their IP.

Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?
Perhaps that would turn them against gambling for the rest of their RuneScape "career". And surely that would be a good thing?

Jagex Account Guardian
Treat recovery questions as additional passwords (random characters that don't answer the question). Then either write the answers down in real life, or store them in an encrypted file/application. Yeah but you shoudlnt have to. A system should be secure enough to stand on its own not rely on 3rd party email providers that DO have 2-step verification or by writing down answers/using a password manager.

Squeal of Fortune "Updates" was: Spin Results (970 spins)
But how many people look at the news on the home page compared to those with bookmarks or direct access via the official client or 3rd party programs? Is that more or less than 90% that spin daily?
-
Squeal of Fortune "Updates" was: Spin Results (970 spins)
If 90% of players really do use the SoF every day then there's no need to advertise it on the website AT ALL ;)

Squeal of Fortune "Updates" was: Spin Results (970 spins)
I think it was the outrage over the Achemist squeal promotion trumping the God Wars Dungeon, arguable the biggest update so far this year, after only 2 days.

9th of September: Live Q&A with CEO Mark Gerhard & VP Daniel Clough
Agreed. I turned the volume on both my laptop and the video and I still can't hear him... <_< I had to AirPlay mirror from iPad to TV just to get it at a volume I could hear.

They are considering adding limited items (summer items, katana etc) to Solomons store once promotion period is over.
