If it was open-source, why didn't they check the code for scripts that sent their login details to the owners of the client?

From what I've heard from a real life friend who RWTs, the price is already nearly that low anyway. Jagex could very well offer such a low price that RWTers wouldn't feel like it's worth doing any longer, but on the same coin, I doubt Jagex, as a company, would as well. Also, looking from a different perspective, if Jagex sold gold for say $0.50/mil, there could be more of a profit loss from people getting fed up and quitting the game than the money that Jagex could make from RWT. Over half the price per mil than RWT websites AND something that will keep you from getting banned by Jagex? Hell yeah, I'm sure a lot of people would bite that bait. A lot of people would quit too, not to mention that it would totally screw the game economy if Jagex spawned gold to sell to people (leading to more quitters).

Uh. No it wouldn't. All it would do is open up competition between Jagex and RWT websites. Jagex would probably end up with having the RWTers offer the best deal (lower prices, etc) since Jagex is actually trying to profit off of this whereas many RWTers just sell gold on the side. As for selling gold, Jagex could also open up a lot of competition, but unless Jagex is willing to almost give mils away for free, the RWT community would probably offer lower prices. In the end, the ONLY way for Jagex to stop RWTing is to totally bork the game.

Trust me. If people can get a good account for cheap on the RWT market, they'll do that rather than begging to buy their banned account back from Jagex. This is not to mention that Jagex has already said that they will re-adjust the stats at your leisure, and you won't know anything until you get the account, even if you paid before they altered the account. Seems like people who got banned for something more serious like botting (with the possible exception of gold farmers as the banned accounts aren't worth much to them) would rather get a better account by RWT and know the stats (even if there's a risk of being scammed) over Jagex ripping them off anyway.

You can probably buy a high-end account off the RWT market for less.

I'm single and I honestly couldn't give two [cabbage]s about the day. I actually feel sorry for all the guys that have girlfriends who are [bleep]ing serious about this holiday (when all the guys truly want is a little nookie.) Why must women make guys work so hard? I feel even more sorry for guys in highschool (who want lots of nookie) who have girls that celebrate VD Day like it's some cult holiday AND expect their boyfriends to adhere to [developmentally delayed]ed romantic expectations just because they have some creepy vampire fetish. How creepy.

So in other words you can pay for an account that was totally reset and not know this information beforehand. Makes perfect sense.

The problem with that logic is that the vast majority of deaths where you would get some serious loot come from server disconnections or other things outside of the person's control. It's really hard to fail hard enough to die when you're in control of your character anywhere but Nex and maybe Corp if he gets a really good combo. I'll take my opponent's pieces in chess, but if they have to get up to take a phone call or use the bathroom I'm not going to rearrange their pieces to give myself an advantage, because that's not part of the game. That's using outside forces to screw the other guy over. If there was a way to distinguish between legitimate deaths and deaths that are the fault of server problems, I'd be all for punishing legitimate death, but as it is dying is nothing more than getting very bad luck, and I don't think that should carry a hefty price tag. I'm happy about the gravestone update. What if someone has a legitimate death, but their connection was suddenly disrupted due to service in their area being down for a little while or if their power went out during a storm? Would you still take the loot?

This. Jagex shouldn't have done anything to the gravestones so that the game was riskier. Oh and looting from someone's misery is part of the fun of the game.

What do you think people are going to be doing on the first week (especially first day)? People are gonna be gold digging, but it should even out after a bit.

Can you run into the wilderness, 2x dragon claws spec, run out, sip spec restore, then jump back in and spec some more? Also does sap spirit curse work in the wilderness?

They probably made a list of people and then used a script to guess passwords. Do NOT ever list your Runescape IGN on any forums or have your forum nick the same as your IGN. Probably best to keep a low profile. Also have a IGN that's totally different from your login name. :v And don't download porn or visit any fishy sites that might give you a virus. And don't open up "official" emails from Jagex.

I love that volcano. :v By the way, is the volcano bank a safe zone or? I remember that it wasn't part of the wilderness before the update but haven't looked yet.

If you fall for this, you deserve it. It's an old trick. Honestly, you should never ever be 'hacked' if you follow Jagex's advice and common sense. But free trade is evil. Oh well.
