"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Can someone please explain to me why girls cannot tell when a guy likes them? Example: My gf met this guy at school 2 days ago and became friends with him. No big deal to me, she can have guy friends if she wants. Now they talk quite a bit and she comments to me how he texts her more than I do (I sent her 200-300 messages/day) and she told me about a conversation they had where he said something he owned was blue and mentioned how it was her favorite color. And they had another conversation about liking people and I won't even go into details but in my mind he made it obvious of his intentions. So I told my gf that the guy obviously likes her and she (knowing I can be jealous) went off about how they're just friends and I had to explain firstly that I don't care if he likes her and secondly I had to show her how he did. I used the two points mentioned: 1. No guy willingly gives up endless hours to talk to a girl he just met without intentions of being more than friends and 2. People don't generally point out things they know about someone else unless they want it to be known that they were listening well. I found it quite humorous but then I came back to the original question as I've seen it happen many times before..

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
[/hide] Read the hidden stuff first. Basically, I decided to call her and ended up texting with her quite a bit. A few days later we ended up hanging out by a lake and talked for about an hour and a half and she made me a... balloon animal... long story though, and I don't feel like telling. Anyways it seems like she might actually be interested in me, and I think I might be interested in her. I mean, she's extremely pretty, she lives only three houses down from me, and she's a nice person. Looks like a winning combination to me. Only problem is I'm not exactly sure when or how to ask her out. The first two times I've asked a girl out I completely screwed up.. I mean, how do you guys do it? Just ask her to a movie? Also I'm worried I'll get friendzoned if I don't ask her out soon enough, but I don't want to ask her out too soon because it just feels weird to me. I've been talking with her for a week and the conversations have already started to die down so I'm getting rather nervous. You've got to be careful with simply asking them to go do something with you. If they can't see the underlying intentions, you're simply going to do something as friends. Example: A guy wanted my gf to go to the movie with him and she assumed her friend just wanted to go see a movie. I told her it's fine as long as he actually knows about me. Long story short, they didn't go to the movie. The easiest way to ask a girl out and have your intentions up front is to simply ask them if they'll go out with you. From there you can plan maybe a date or something. But should you choose to ask her to a movie you should try to make it obvious that you don't want to simply go as friends. Maybe ask her shortly before you depart and leave with a hug or show some sort of affection. As far as specifically when to do it, that's up to you. It's best done in a more private setting though. Good luck man :)

If you could make one thing illegal...
Well I would have to "illegalize" the freedom of anyone who just doesn't have the mental capacity to come up with an intelligent sentence. Especially if they managed to fail twice in a row.

The White Crayon
So without other crayons it's pointless? Not really. I still find crayons interesting to work with. They don't give you as much of a "sophisticated" and "refined" look as you might want for something to go in an art show, but when you just want to get a new look they're great :)

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
If a person cannot handle asking another person out, they are not ready for a relationship. How can you expect to do anything with that person if they can't talk to you?

Why is sex* bad?
Birth control, a condom, and not [bleep]ing everything that moves. I will say pregnancy is easy to avoid if you just take the precautions. STDs are a little more difficult because it seems to me people don't want to be open about it and would rather have their partner suffer.

No, just no. NEVER do that. When you meet up for the first time, it will be awkward as hell, and if she doesn't say yes, it will be even worse. Delete that comment if you can. SAVE YOUR SOCIAL LIFE! It's not that big of a deal. My current gf asked me out over AIM one night and this relationship has held together better than any of my previous relationships. It really isn't how you do it that matters. If she likes you she's going to say yes..

Bullying and Your Views
Eh, I was bullied a bit in like 4th grade but I changed school districts for middle/high school. I was pretty much a bully through middle school and nobody has ever tried to bully me.

Peer pressure really doesn't work unless someone is very insecure about themselves that they feel they need to change to gain social acceptance. I had a friend who constantly told me to quit smoking and threw out all those "facts" about the negatives of smoking. All it ever did was annoy me, but I kept smoking. The only reason I really quit was because my gf doesn't like it. If this guys ex quits because she feels she needs to be accepted by her then she's got a long lifetime of being manipulated ahead of her.

It's getting weird? No, you're just not getting the responses you wanted. You were hoping we'd have some awesome way to throw bogus facts at some teenage girl to stop her from smoking. And you got the exact opposite.

Aye, I'll second this.

If you could make one thing illegal...
I think I need to take a stand against what the gov't is teaching kids as many people here obviously think they're going to get serious damage done to their lungs from merely being around someone smoking once in a while..

Please take the time to inform yourself about how secondhand smoke is not as dangerous as the gov't leads you to believe. The ONLY reason I don't like secondhand smoke is because it makes me want a cigarette, which I've had trouble giving up. ...and Secondhand smoke smells like [cabbage]. Also, it gives me a sore throat if I am around a smoker for too long. Oh noes! You don't like the smell? Maybe I don't like the smell that some cars produce? I sure as all don't like it when people fart near me or if someone has bad body odor. You get a sore throat, maybe I get a headache from prolonged exposure to those smells. Should we make everything that doesn't smell good illegal?

A Final Goodbye (Poem)
A suicide attempt of someone close to my gf prompted some different thoughts and being bad at poetry I decided to write a poem about it. Let me know what you think, I am looking to get better :) A Final Goodbye Colors are dull Warm turned cold My heart barely beats Without her by my side Waking to sunlight Bottles on the floor Pills on not far away Wishing I had died Consciousness says I failed And the pain lives on Relentlessly haunting me Showing me the good times That I'll never have again There's but one way out And tonight will be different This time my broken heart Will bleed until the end And the pain will finally stop I can't live without her So I won't live at all

Roll your own. A pack of Bugler rolling tobacco (includes 40 papers) is something like $2.50 where I live. A pack of Marlboros (20 cigarettes) is just over $5.00 most places around here.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I certainly felt like that when I was around girls' houses. When I was at home I was a little bit more open because I'm in a familiar environment but it still felt awkward. It felt like people prying into to mine and her conversations, even if they weren't all that private, was an invasion of my personal life. If they're a family friend, the conversation's not really a part of my personal life anyway. Then, I feel awkward talking to people anyway. When you want to feel awkward around a girls' parents, try spending the night at her house and trying to convince her parents to let the two of you sleep together only to have her mom go off on a ramble about sex and related topics before laughing and saying it's ok. Seriously, it happened to me a few weeks ago and then I spent the night with her last night and the same thing happened. It's always so hard to talk to her mom in the morning 'cause we're not exactly "good" haha :P

You've got a point, however secondhand smoke is not as dangerous as the gov't leads you to believe since it's been filtered twice and the concentration going into the 3rd party is very very small. Unless you live with a smoker and are in very close contact with them while they're smoking, you should see very little harm actually done.

Leave her be. There's nothing worse than you anti-smokers trying to find ways to get smokers to stop. You're as bad as those bible freaks pushing Jesus on everyone they come by. Mind your own business and don't start smoking if you don't like it. Yes, he has every right to be concerned. But think about it. Every time you go get fast food do you want me to sit around and tell you how absolutely horrible it is on your body? How it can lead to high cholesterol? How is can lead to obesity? Heart disease? What I'm trying to say is it's fine to be concerned, but he doesn't need to set out to stop her. You just try to take my MacDonald's and we're gonna have a problem..
