I won't expect a reply back but I don't think you have a good grasp on how serious blood bourne diseases are. A scratcher is someone who has not taken a BBP (blood bourne pathogen) class, has not apprenticed under a professional tattoo artist, and has not had any professional tattooing experience yet they feel they're still okay to tattoo other people. Needles don't need to be sterilized. They need to be properly disposed of after being used. It's everything else that comes in contact with the area being tattooed that needs to be sterilized (the tattoing machine, everything the artist touches, etc). If an item comes in contact with blood, ink that was on the tattooed area, or even just the tattooed area then it needs to be sterilized.

You have access to an autoclave I suppose? I'm not acting awesome over the internet. I can get ahold of your address pretty easily. cause there's really a need for you to come and get a plane over to the UK, isn't there? and yeah, an autoclave's the only method of sterilization around. :) If you become a scratcher then, yes, there is a need for me to come over the the UK. Yes, the autoclave is the only method of sterilization that should be used on tattooing items. That doesn't tell me whether or not you have access to one.

That's just stupid. I can't stop you from tattooing yourself but if tattoo anyone else I will find out where you live and give you a beating like you can't imagine. I'm not even joking. Scratchers help spread diseases that cause tattoos to have negative reputations (as far as diseases go).

Good advice right there. Also, there are numbing gels available to buy (I have no clue where to buy them) that might be a good idea if you can't handle much pain. Remember never to get drunk before you go in for a tattoo though. Alcohol thins the blood and the process goes quicker with less bleeding ;) They don't have to spend as much time wiping the area clean What kind of pain medication would you guys suggest? I can take pain, just don't like it. If you can take pain, I recommend you get your first one without an pain meds. ;)

Scare Tactics Used to Teach Kids
... Make informed decisions? Are you crazy? Drugs ARE bad. Alcohol IS bad. The only one that you might make an "informed decision" about is sex. Otherwise that's it. Why would you want to make a desicion to do drugs? I don't think I expressed this the way I could've. I hope you get what I mean .. You're right. Drugs and alcohol are bad. BUT, when used responsibly and in a healthy environment they're not as bad. Why would someone make a decision to do drugs? Well, I did. It opened me up to a whole new world, showed me things I wouldn't have seen, and through it I actually found religion. Maybe it was bad for my body, but my mind seems to have benefitted from it. It also makes you sleepy, go figure. Marijuana is made illegal because the government wanted to arrest hippies in the 1970s and 80s but they couldn't arrest them for free speech so they made marijuana (the hippies drug of choice) illegal. The government is just under the "Drugs are bad" phase so they aren't going to legalize it anytime soon, what bothers me is that ciggarettes are worse than marijuana Yes, the gov't didn't like the hippies protesting against the war so they outlawed marijuana, only to have LSD (acid) become the new drug of choice. But marijuana was already illegal when the hippies were smoking it, the law just wasn't inforced. Marijuana was originally outlawed when Mexicans brought forth the idea of using it recreationally instead of just for medical purposes. That was back in the 30's or 40's I think.

I agree with you on this. Medicinal Marijuana is a good thing in my opinion, but there's a reason Marijuana is illegal, and that's to stop people from abusing it, or attempt to anyway. The key word is used responsibly. The people you know, who use, are quite different than the people that I know, who abuse. The few ruin it for the many. If everyone used it responsibly, I'd say sure to making it legal, but everyone doesn't, and bad things happen, that's just how it is. You're right, the irresonsible people are part of the reason it's not legal. Not to mention part of the illegalization was racist and another part was the Vietnam war.

Ah, I remember that. Not only were we told that but they gave us stirring straws, made us run around for 5 minutes, then told us we could only breathe through the straws. #-o

Scare Tactics Used to Teach Kids
I know a lot of people who smoke marijuana and they do very well in school, don't get into fights, and have never been busted/been in jail. 18 million Americans smoke marijuana, and I don't see all of them losing their jobs, going to jail, or dropping out of school. You're right though. Just because something bad didn't happen to me, doesn't mean it won't happen to someone else. Though, if used responsibly, bad things are far less likely to happen. No. What they were saying is that all drugs are the same. It's common sense that taking drugs is bad for you, that's not what we were being taught. My grandparents smoked for 45 years and they're fine. If tobacco is as bad for you as they want you to think, how can it remain legal? I think it's more gov't propaganda. I did not misenterpret them nor am I exaggerating. So telling kids lies that will effect their future decisions is the truth? I think you're very misinformed.

MMORPG's
I've always like Lineage II. Free download from here then just find a private server and join them. You can get into mid/high rate servers if you don't enjoy grinding. Shadowbane is still free (as far as I know) but that has gone downhill like crazy..

Freshmen, how has your school been so far?
[cabbage] :wall: I just realised I only have about 2 weeks left of summer. Better make the most of it, I suppose.

Meh, most of my friends are replaceable. I have some really close friends that I would never stab in the back though.

Comedy....
Anybody ever watched Bob Sagot's comedy routines? I was fairly amused but at the same time I was wondering wtf happened to Danny Tanner :P

Agreed. If you over think it, you'll probably talk yourself out of it. Plus, if it's really painful, your body will release endorophins (sp?) to help counter the pain. Thus you have a natural high and you might just want more tattoos ;)

Scare Tactics Used to Teach Kids
Do you think it's right to use scare tactics when teaching kids about subjects such as sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc? I'm 100% against using scare tactics to teach kids. As a kid I was taught things (in school, mind you) like: -Drugs are all the same (marijuana is as bad as cocaine) -Smoking cigarettes is a guarenteed death -Sex was shown as a bad thing and we were guarenteed an STD if we tried it -Marijuana would cause: --Testicle shrinkage/becoming sterile --Completely messed up life --Death -Alcohol could kill you unless you were of legal age to drink it -Etc I think things like this are actually bad to teach kids. Why not give them the truth and let them make informed choices? Imo, kids are bound to make worse choices if they're given false information. I think of it this way: -I've used marijuana and using the information I was given in school, I could have done cocaine and gotten the same effects and it would have been just as dangerous. -If that information was true, I should be dead many times over -Given kids false information and having them find out otherwise in the future leads them to not trust people of authority (teachers, parents, etc)

Mine where similar to these: They were unrecognizable when I threw them away though :(

Getting a tattoo on your bicep will barely hurt at all as long as it's on the outside (more visible area). If you get it on the inside area it will be pretty painful, but other areas will hurt MUCH more.

Let me see your shoes!
Jordans are really nice shoes. I had a pair that lasted me almost 10 months and would have been fine but I wore them when I was helping clean up from the Flood of '08. Human feces, river mud, and God knows what else on your shoes isn't much fun.

I personally don't think a tattoo needs to mean anything to you. One tattoo I'm planning on getting will just be because I like the design. If you find online tattoo communities you'll find a lot of people who don't agree with the idea that tattoos need to mean something to you. I think shows like Miami Ink and LA Ink have really overdone the "story behind the tattoo" crap.
