Mentality of a lurer

Featured Replies

I agree with Wakka. Jagex would ban luring in a second if it was easily reportable.

I really have to shake my head in amazement at how people will come up with the most ridiculous rationalizations for their nasty behavior -- and excuse Jagex from just about every responsibility as well.

Jagex could ban luring if they wanted to. They simply don't care -- it's easier to turn a blind eye to the problem than to make an effort. That's all there is to this.

To some degree people deserve to be lured it they being stuff into the wild.

And people deserve to get carjacked if they drive into bad neighborhoods, so this means carjackers are doing nothing wrong. :wall:

Luring is about lieing - just Jagex cant ban it cause its too hard to prove, therefore it isnt bannable. And as long as it isnt bannable Ill continue to do it.

Well, you have to look at yourself in the mirror every morning. Those are real people you are scamming, not just imaginary pixels.

And the stuff about it being "too hard to prove" is a bunch of baloney. If Jagex cared about cleaning up its game half as much as it does about making more and more money, luring could be eliminated.

Oh and btw, not all lurers are "pixel seeking noobs." who "dont play the game properly"

No, most are a lot worse.

I have no problem with wildy lures, or Dag King lures (though they are a different topic entirely). What I have a problem with are the lures that abuse game bugs. This wouldn't be a problem if Jagex fixed bugs the monday after they become aware of it. But they don't, allowing people to take advantage.

Hell yeah. If you drive into a ghetto and knowingly park your car which is worth stealing don't expect it to be there the next morning. Of course there is a difference in morality between stealing Pixels and stealing a car.

It's not bannable not because it's too hard to prove. It's not bannable because it's not against the rules. YOUR WHOLE GAME SCREEN IS COVERED BY A SIGN, IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE DANGERS OF THE WILDERNESS THEN READ IT.

No, most are a lot worse.
I'm a bad person by using people's stupidity against them? Funny I always thought I was doing them a favour by pointing out their flaws. I find luring fun. I find knowing exactly what someone else is thinking entertaining. The loot is just a bonus. As I said before. Me having fun, making RS money, and training my skills does not make me scum.

Question - Why is tip.it so anti lure - and RSC so pro lure? Dont give me a stupid answer which I expect to get such as "ZOFL CAUSE DEY NUBS," from some guy who joined these forums about three weeks ago - give me a real answer.

Click me and read the first post. The post dates from before luring was allowed, but you can get an idea from it, on how the sentiments (of some of us) about luring came about on Tipit.

Not quite the answer you expected to get I guess, because I don't take pride in typing like a dweeb. Why RSC is pro luring ? I don't know, I never go there.

They don't care, yet they moderate the RSOF to keep advertising for a luring partner down ? If they really didn't care about it all, if it were in the spirit of the game, then they would for sure allow that to be advertised.

Fix the bolded statement. Just doing you a favor, pointing out a flaw. I agree, there's a difference between stealing pixels and a car. Since they're only pixels, you should have no problem keeping your hands off of others pixels.

It used to be regarded against the rules (look for a picture of a J-mod post dated november, in the debate-club thread). The wilderness signs weren't added in the meantime, but before that. So I don't know what made them have a change of heart. It being difficult to enforce/reportable sounds reasonable.

The things you look for can also be found in staking: great rewards, outsmarting people, using your opponent's weaknesses to your advantage. The only difference is that the other party actually expects/prepares to engage in a fight. Maybe you should try a (MMO)RTS since you consider the loot only to be a bonus over outsmarting people.

Oh and btw, not all lurers are "pixel seeking noobs." who "dont play the game properly" I played the game properly on my main and got two 99 stats, then realised it was pointless, and decided to focus on my exams and lure in my spare time.

'Pixel seeking noobs': you called it 'pixel stealing' yourself a few quotes up. Not much difference between the two. In this quote you recognise luring not being 'proper playing'. It doesn't matter you 'played it properly' in the past, it matters how you play it now: luring. Your reasoning on lurers being pixel stealers who don't play properly is flawless. Oh but wait, you mentioned this prejudice to disprove it: I guess you failed.

Anyway, mistakes aside, I'd just like to present my stance on luring one last time.

I lure FOR FUN. Money is just the bonus. What the guy above doesn't seem to realise, is that there is a difference between "most" and "all"

When I say MOST lurers are pixel hungry, it does not mean, that ALL lurers are pixel hungry. Therefore, my two previous statements that he so eloquently proclaimed as being "contradictory" or something to a similar meaning, are infact, quite acceptable.

MOST lurers are pixel hungry, but not ALL are. See - it makes perfect sense! Most lure for pixels, but not ALL lure for pixels. If you wish me to drop the pre-school-esque, patronising dialogue, please, PLEASE, do not make stupid points, picking out the "flaws" in peoples' arguements, whilst quoting the wrong person, AND giving false meaning to what I actually said.

Hey.

So. runesape has.... Abyess pking, autoer pking, lure pking, lureie pking lurer and all these occiasions their perpared to die... but killing a dude 2inchs away from wild? with nothing on except money, is ok? Let me get this striagh...

You made him come to level 1 wild? you took advange of 1 level difference and pked a harmless person for pixels.... I would never lure anyone. it's just not right on my side.

Newb: how u get that p hat?

me: I lured it z0mg anit i special?

newb: newb. <.<

you pking at level 1 wild You need to understand that, 2inchs away from wild and you decide to kill the person?

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

That's possibly THE most stupid layout/opinion/description of ANY kind I have EVER seen.

"you pking at level 1 wild you need to understand that"

Um - No. Pking - wtf?! Level 1? Try level 2 - a killer is not gonna stand where the mark can see them - dummy.

"2inchs away from wild and you decide to kill the person?"

2 inches. ?!"!?"?!?"?!!? You most likely mean 2 steps. And you decide to kill the person - no, I decided to kill them LONG LONG LONG AGO. You obviously do not understand how luring works. You are an idiot. PURE idiot. You don't know what you're talking about, so I suggest you either read up or leave any luring related topics until you atleast have a basic understanding of how it works.

Hey.

lol me being serious

Forget my idiotic post! we can report lurers now! YA-HOOO! \'

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

Alright, they don't approve of luring, but it's still not against the rules. EDIT: Just read the post above me and noticed JAGeX changed it to Luring now being reportable. Still won't do anything though. They can't prove it.

But as I also said before Luring is pretty much staking with little to no risk.

Thanks for pointing that out, I edited the quoting in my original post.

I don't see myself saying anything about 'all' or 'most'. You lure now and know that you don't play the game properly now, like before on your main.

You see the loot as a bonus ? You're still seeking the bonus, even though it's a by-product of your fun: or do you actually give the loot back to those you lured ? Imagine two possible victims in Edge: one wearing expensive gear and the other wearing nothing: which one do you go after ?

What part of 'not all lurers are pixel seeking noobs who dont play the game properly' were you trying to prove again by telling about yourself ? You perfectly fit the description of a 'pixel seeking noob, who doesn't play properly', like any other random lurer.

DutchDreams.png

Look at that. Very next day... luring is against the rules.
