Math Tutoring --- It's here!

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

Looking through this board for my first time (ever) and I have noticed that a few people are asking for math related subjects tutoring help/advice.

Well I am offering my services as a year 11 student. I am in Math B and I am getting reasonable grades (Top 20% of the year 11's, a feat to be proud of). Anyways if you are looking for some free tutoring I'll be glad to help. Just send me a pm with your problems and the topic concerned, and I'll get back to you ASAP

I don't particularly like advanced problem solving but I am always willing to have a go at it.

I'm also relatively good at physics and Biology.

Trying to get a new sig... Idea's anyone?

:o Alternatively you can post your concerns out in the open here! I'll still be happy to get back to you.

If you do need to send formulas, check out wikipedia for your formula that you need. (I.e Seach: Pythagoras Theorum) And post the link here. If you feel upto it, save the formula's pic and re-post it here! All your choice

Trying to get a new sig... Idea's anyone?

I was wondering if you can explain the xp formula.

How I must insert all the numbers in my calculator to get the right amount of xp for next lvl. If I try it Im always some points of at low levels and it keeps getting more.

Thanks in the advance.

G'day mate.

Where were you when I was suffereing through two years of maths B, finishing last year? #-o :P

Anyway good on ya for helping I suppose, I know how hard maths B can be.

lol...thanks

you do realize that most people that live in off topic are like 18+ though...so i dunno how much help you'll be here tbh with you :\

like can you do integration, differentiation, differential equations, multi variable calculus?

commend you for your efforts though...but just saying most people here in off topic are in college/graduated high school

gl wit you topic

you think all are 18+ i think about a quarter is 18+ in ot and a half is 15 to 18 and the left quarter is (like me) 14-

I think santor is probably right about that. Anyway, the level of maths that people have previously asked about for help with homework suggests that there are plenty of people for whom this would be a good thing.

i just meant the people that LIVE here lol..the ones who don't rly go anywhere else on tip.it

OT: Okay, if I need any help in Math, I'll ask you. :P

Back when I learnt maths they didn't do any of that in year 11.

Am I the only one that thinks this is funny coming from rush? Anyways I'm pretty sure he's at Virginia Tech, so I'm pretty sure he has done some of that stuff. (Btw, I might be visiting sometime in April and go on a tour of the campus, mage =D. Maybe I would see you and not even know it :shock: ).

Anyways instead of having you personally offering to help people, we should just have a sticky devoted to people who need homework help. Also while you probably are qualified to answer some questions people might have, I'm pretty positive there several other people who might be of more assistance. Maybe it's just me, but the top 20% of 11th graders in math doesn't sound so amazing although pretty good, but we probably have completely different school systems so..

Me, I'm in the top 2% in mathematics of a well known College-Prep Jesuit High School, also a junior in a class of about 450 students, and I don't feel like I could be a ton of help mathematically on this forum :-w .

No offense or anything, it's just my opinion. Too many smarty people in OT o_O

[if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or

by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.]

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

when/if you decide to visit the campus...personal message me here on the date you are coming. i'll give you and your family a personal tour :thumbsup:

I'm in the top 1% of my class.

I'm only in ninth grade, yet I'm taking 12th grade math classes (well that's what trig is considered here...)

Losers...

Are you blind or ignoring me on purpose?

Even though I sometimes side with religious people in some debates, I no longer consider myself religious.

Am I the only one that thinks this is funny coming from rush?

I don't get it.

Hello, I am stuck on a math problem and I am hoping that somebody here can help me. Here is the problem:

"If you have a total of $160 in $5 bills and $10 bills, how many of each type of bill do you have if you have four more $10 bills than $5 bills?"

The answer is eight $5 bills and twelve $10 bills but I do not know how to arrive at that answer.

let x = no. $10 bills, y = no. $5 bills

10x + 5y = 160

x = y + 4

solve for x and y

[sig too big, don't do it again]

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

or a easy way is just to translate the english into the math.

You have 160= 10(x)+5(h) from $160 in $5 bills and $10 bills.

and X=H+4 from four more $10 than $5 bills.

Then you combine your two information.

160= 10(H+4)+5H

160= 10H+40+5H

160=15H+40

120=15H

8=H, where H is number of five dollar bills

then you can find number of ten dollar bills easily

from this equation

X=H+4

x=8+4

x=12

So 12 ten dollar bills and 8 five dollar bills.

To check the statement is true.

12*10+8*5=160

120+40=160

Hello, I need help once again. This time I need help solving rational expressions.

1) x/1 + 1/x = 13/6

2) 1/x + 1/x+2 = 5/12

I have to solve for x in both cases, but I always get a trinomial that can't be factored.

Dude, I was in math class yesterday, and my friend bet my other friend $1 he wouldn't be able to solve a math problem fully. He was right. The question was:

22/7

Can you fully solve? :wink:
