April 8, 200719 yr I created this thread because someone mentioned in another thread about 'The Freedom Of The Seas' I google'd it, And it just amazed me, I couldn't get my head around it. Royal Caribbean Cruises' Freedom of the Seas has surpassed the record set by the Southampton based Queen Mary 2, to take the title. The 338 metre long vessel, with a breadth of almost 39 metres, weighs in at 158,000 Grt. Her 1,360 crew can cater for 4,370 passengers. The ship boasts 15 decks and such innovative features as the largest fitness centre afloat, a surf machine where passengers can ride artificially generated waves, a rock climbing wall (on the funnel) and a family sized water park. Is there anything you find so overwhelming you can't believe it? It could be the biggest, the smallest, the widest, the thinnest, the heaviest, Etc etc! April 8, 200719 yr I've always hated the ugliness of the stern. Anyways, I'm often overwhelmed by skyscrapers, WTC1 and 2 in particular. BTW look at Royal Carribean's next ship, said to be on the seas by 2009: The 5,400-6,400 (I'm getting mixed figures) passenger, 220,000 ton, 1,180 feet long (360 metres), 154 feet wide (47 metres), 240 feet (73 metres) high, 15 deck, and 1.1 billion dollar Genesis Class ship.
