Ok, Im thinking about getting World of Warcraft tomorrow, i was just thinking if its going to be too complicated to get started or my computer will mess up really bad from it not being powerfull enough, i wont be getting Burning Crusades as i dont have enough money *lol*.

I was thinking of being a mage but im not sure how the whole system works, could someone please give me some info and if 1gb ram and 125gig memory would be enough to run it.

Also people say its quite hard to get started from scratch, is this true. im completely clueless =\ any input will help, and please dont call me an idiot or anything because im only 13 and ive explained as much i can. Thanks

Edit: changed title for something more explaining

Your computer will run it fine, assuming its like a p4.

As for the start, it is probably one of the easist games to start. Ever. Just dont be one of those people that go "OMGZOR, all these buttons are complicated". Its really easy. You click the thing you want to attack, and you push a button or two. Simple.

I would suggest you be an alliance, as horde sucks arse. If your alliance, and want to be a mage, play as either a human or a gnome (they are the only ones that can be mages).

And play on a pvp server.

Ok, thanks, i was thinking of being a gnome mage as i looking on the website. and yeh, it does have alot on the interface lol, well thanks for your help :)

If your are coming from Runescape, then yes, there is gonna be a big difference in the ui. But remember this, its more keybased, rather then ui based.

/glare /threaten!!!

im an undead mage join the burning blade if you pick alliance you can join lion heart with his shaman, if you choose horde you can play with me and my mage and nadril and his rouge and our other alts

if you choose red (horde) then your entire life will change if you choose blue (alliance) then your life will go back to your plain, normal, and boring life. which do you choose?

BTW mage advise: i'd gofor something that actually have racials that fit into a mages' needs AKA gnomes = pointless locks and mages cause they dont need escape artist

trolls are ok cause i think they reduce the time they cast spells by 25% when beserker is used (melee too)

undead = GREAT for mages will of the forsaken will get you out of any fear effect, charm effect, and something else which i cant remember and if you need a quick heal just cannibalize

humans.... big no they got nothing for you

All I recommend you do (if you get WoW) is approach the game like you haven't played RuneScape or any other MMO before. I've 'converted' a few friends to WoW but I haven't had any luck with some, only because they are so used to RuneScape or another MMO that when I describe WoW, they say, "Why is XXXX like that?!?! In RuneScape, it is...". You simply cannot compare two games that way; you either like it after playing it, or don't. So just have an open mind and realize that the game is COMPLETELY different from RuneScape. I saw a post where someone was grinding up levels in the starting zone - nuh-uh, do quests!

Take the time to learn the game, explore the zones, and just have fun. There's all this pressure on new users to learn the game quickly and reach the highest level. If you find that fun, go ahead - but otherwise, take it slow and go at your own pace. Play the race/class/character you want to play and experiment a little. Don't let other people's pressures force you to do something you don't want to do; let that happen at END-game.

Make yourself useful during that 2-4 hour initial downloading and patching and read a bit of the game manual. I browsed through it a bit while i was downloading and it really did help me understand some more of the game mechanics (though the WoW website does a great enough job in itself).

If you're having trouble picking a class, race, profession, whatever, I highly suggest browsing WoWWiki. It's got a lot of great info on the classes and how to choose what class you want.

Welcome to WoW :D

Humans - stealth detection, excellent for beating rouges.

Gnomes - +Int, no good for a mage, get out of your PvP way of thinking. If blink is on cooldown and some melee class is beating me to bts I'm happy for my Escape Artist.

Unded - WoTF, never absolutely NEEDED that in PvE, but it's inarguably one of the best PvP racials, especially for lock-weak classes. Cannibalize? Except for the most special scenes, hardly better than a pot-saver. Not too much IMO.

Troll - Berserking is definitely okay.

Gnome Mage FTW!

I think horde mages may have slightly better racials, but not to make them dominant over ally mages.

Korla, you've also got to take into account the Blood Elf mages. Their prominent racial is the Mana Tap/Arcane Torrent. I haven't leveled a BE mage far but the ability is pretty decent for fighting another mage class and getting their mana shot down a bit, and if you're arcane torrent is charged you can get some emergency mana if you're in a pinch.

Canabalize is amazing on my rogue. I never have to sit down to eat when I'm fighting humanoids (which is a lot) between canabalize and bandages.

and WoTF is a life saver.

I'd just like to comment this concerning my negative thought of cannibalism. That was coming from a mage. Who can conjure food. And has to drink water more than he has to eat food. (I was frost spec, but I think even the most HP/Spell dmg-heavy fire mage needs more mana than hp after a fight.) So cannibalize is basically only used within fights for a mage.

Yes, having no life is so cool and funny.

Aswell as talking to some Wow-morons lol.

If you have nothing constructive to say then please GTFO and grow up.

My advice -

Look through the Wow-europe site at the races, classes and the professions.

If you like to do a lot of PvP then go horde. Firstly because they have better pvp racials(so people say..) and secondly, they win battlegrounds 99% of the time.

For starting out i would go for a hunter as it is a nice easy class to play... especially when you get your pet, you can solo quests that people your level cant.

A list of sites that might help -

WoW-Europe

WoW-Wiki

Thottbot

WoW-Addons

Note: Most addons are not against Blizzard rules... The site named above, all the addons are perfectly Legal. Good luck and have fun :P

hmm im thinking of buying wow too, do i have to buy anything else besides the game initially or do i get a free month or something with the game?

Don't bother with the expansion when you're first starting out. When you buy the game you will get a month free of play.

It's just getting your version of the game 'up to date'. Once it's done, you can play. It's like when RuneScape updates, but just a bit bigger.

Are you in Europe or the US? In the US, people here play a lot on Burning Blade, so if you join that server you can play with some of the folk here. If you're in Europe, I play on Terenas and Shattered Hand (SH is much better).

As for class and alliegance, try every account first. Play around and see what you enjoy most to begin with, then carry on with it.

If you're wondering what 'side' to join, for your own good, join the Horde. In general, a lot more organised, intelligent and less RuneScape-like spam occurs in Horde than in the Alliance. Put it this way, little Johnny 10 year old picks Night Elf because it looks 1337.

Ultimately, pick which appeals to you most.

I resent that! I picked nelf cos it sounded 1337! not cos it looked 1337!

in general... yeah horde is better for maturity.. but i roll alliance cos i like it more and i wanted to get a priest to lvl 70. Nelf being the hardest preist class to roll.. i wanted the most challenge.
