I doubt that... It's not hard to compare spelled words with words that are not allowed and replacing it with something else. Heck, they already had the chatfiler.

Well, this is true or not. A 'chatfilter' looks for naughty words, usually checkiong a pre-set list of 'naughties'.

 

 

 

Since it's impossible to have a preset list with everyone's unique password, it's likely alil more difficult.

Since neither of us actually work for Jagex, neither of us can say exactly. I'm simply saying, to me, perhaps it be alil more difficult than we'd think.

Not only does this stop people from accidently falling for scams it can also prevent account trading unless the people give each other msn adresses or other details which is also agaisnt the rules...

My take is that the filter now checks for the censor list and that variable to EACH user...EVERYTIME a player writes something. Its not that difficult but i bet it puts a whole lot of stress to process it

Nah its exactly what he said. The user sends the message to the message center, there it checks for words to be censored, THEN it checks if the password of the user is part of the message, then after changing the needed parts into "*" they send back the message to be displayed.

 

 

 

The censor is not built into the game client (What loads when you play Runescape) its a server (I guess there is one of these per world). So once the message is finally displayed its final. Its not re-censored for every person seing it

I didn't say that. I said that the password variable would change for every user.

 

 

 

So if somebodies password was 123654 their password variable would be 123654. If somebody else's password was 987456 their password variable would be exactly that.

 

Person 1 can still say 987456 because that is not their own password variable.

 

 

 

Anyway details are not important, there are many ways jagex could do it. My point was that jagex would use a variable, rather than do every account individually.
