Introduction

The reason I wrote this guide is that I havn't found any guide on Barrows that compile info for a range of different players. There are low combat lvl players that want to do Barrows. There are players that are poor, for whatever reason, and still want to do Barrows. There are also players that don't want to risk expensive items at Barrows but still want to do Barrows. And then there are the medium lvl/normal/normal risk players too and finally there are the high lvl/rich/high risk players. I havn't found any guide out there that compile info for all those players so this guide is for a whole range of different players so I made 3 different guides based on those 3 different player-types, with different outfit and inventory for all 3. The 3 different guides are as follows:

Poor/Low lvl/Low Risk Outfit

Skill requirements

Combat = at least 75

Defence = at least 50

Magic = at least 59 (to be able to cast Fire Blast)

Prayer = at least 43 but the higher lvl you get the better

Range = at least 20 (to be able to wield a Willow Bow that can shoot Mithril Arrows)

Quest Requirements

In Aid of the Myreque

Ghost Ahoy

Horror from the Deep

Notes:

- You have to have completed the In Aid of the Myreque quest to be able to use the Burgh the Rotten bank .

- You have to have completed the Ghost Ahoy quest to have the Ectophial vial with which you can teleport to the Ectofunctus and then walk/run to Canafis where you use the Pub backside trapdoor shortcut to get to the Barrows (you can then stash it in the Canafis Bank when you walk/run by it on your way to the Barrows).

- You have to have completed the Horror from the Deep quest to be able to buy and fill a God Book

(Optional: If you have lvl 55 Magic and also got lvl 55 Slayer you should use the Magic Dart spell with the Slayer Staff and substitute the Air Runes with the same amount of Mind Runes)

The Outfit

theoutfitforlowlvlpoorlfo8.png[/img]

Head: Farseer's Helm

Shoulders: God Cape or Ava's Accumulator or Obsidian Cape

Back: at least Mithril Arrows (about 100)

Neck: Blessed Holy Symbol

Body: Monk's Robe Top + the best Dragonhide Body you can wear

Weaponhand: Fire Staff + the best Shortbow you can wield + Good Melee Weapon

Shieldhand: God Book

Finger: Ring of Life

Legs: Monk's Robe Bottom + the best Dragonhide Chaps you can wear

Feet: Boots of Lightness

Hands: the best Dragonhide Vambraces you can wear

 This outfit cost only a few houndred K gp total and it gives a good prayer boost as you will use prayer alot to be able to do Barrows at this low combat lvl and with this low def equipment.

The Inventory

theinventoryforthelowlvdq0.png

- Prayer Potions (at least 4 3-dozes pots or if you make 4-doze you can save some spaces)

- Death Runes (about 100 runes will do)

- Air Runes (about 4 times the Death Runes will do)

- Spade

- Good Melee Weapon (like a Dragon Dagger (p++))

- The best Dragonhide Body you can wear

- The best Dragonhide Chaps you can wear

- The best metal melee body armour you can wear (like a Rune Platebody)

- The best metal melee legs armour you can wear (like a Rune Platelegs)

- The best Shortbow you can wield

- The best food you can get (15 or less depending off how many Prayer Potions you bring)

(Optional: If you like you can bring along a Strenght, Attack and Range Potion instead of

some food)

 This inventory is to have the required amount of Prayer Pots as you will have to refill your Prayer as you fight the brothers. The Dragon Dagger (p++) is a good and affordable melee weapon with a great special and fast hitting, so I would bring that as "the good melee weapon".

The idea about the outfit and the fight plan

- This outfit is for the players who do not have a really high combat lvl (a.k.a less than like lvl 90).

- It's also for those players that do not want to risk a lot of expensive equipment at Barrows as this outfit and inventory only worth like 200K - 300K gp.

- The idea behind this outfit is to get a useful prayer boost so that you can use prayer on all the brothers with the help of the Prayer Potions

- The idea is to use the spell Fire Blast on all brothers except on Ahrim whom you use range on.

- The order in which you kill the brothers isn't really specific as you will use prayer on all off them anyway, so kill them in whatever order you like.

- When you have killed all the brothers in their mounds you put on your melee gear (Rune Platebody + Rune Platelegs as for my inventory, whatever other metal armour for you, but at least mithril I should say) and start killing some Tunnel Monsters to raise your KC and when you are satisfied you go find the last brother and kill him.

- It doesn't matter which brother is in the tunnel beacuse you will use Prayer whichever brother it might be anyway.

- The idea when you have finished a run you get out of the tunnel and walk back to the Burgh the Rotten bank to restock and refill your Prayer with Prayer Potions.

Normal/Medium lvl/Medium Risk Outfit

Skill requirements

Combat = 90+

Defence = at least 70

Magic = at least lvl 55 (to be able to cast the Slayer/Magic Dart spell)

Prayer = at least lvl 55+

Range = at least 70 (to be able to wear Black Dragonhide armour)

Slayer = 55 (to be able to wield a Slayer Staff)

Quest Requirements

In Aid of the Myreque

Ghost Ahoy

Recipe for Disaster

Horror from the Deep

Notes:

- You have to have completed the In Aid of the Myreque quest to be able to use the Burgh the Rotten bank.

- You have to have completed the whole Recipe for Disaster quest to be able to buy and wear the Barrows Glove from the chest in the Lumbrigde Castle cellar.

- You have to have completed the Horror from the Deep quest to be able to buy and fill a God Book.

The Outfit

theoutfitformediumlvlnory1.png

Head: Farseer's Helm

Shoulders: God Cape or Obsidian Cape or Lava Cape

Back: Rune Arrows (about 50)

Neck: Amulet of Glory

Body: Black Dragonhide Body + Rune Platebody

Weaponhand: Slayer Staff + Magic Shortbow + Good Melee Weapon

Shieldhand: Book of Zamorak

Finger: Ring of Life

Legs: Black Dragonhide Chaps + Rune Platelegs

Feet: Blue Mystic Boots

Hands: Barrows Gloves

 This outfit is for the medium player with around lvl 90 combat and whom has some money to spend and/or risk on the equipment needed. With this equipment you don't have to rely on Prayer as much as in the first guide. But you will use prayer on 2 or 3 brothers (depending on how fast you kill the brothers and how high your Prayer lvl is) anyway with this outfit.

The Inventory

theinventoryforthemediuuc1.png

- Prayer Potions (1-2 3-dozes pots or 1 4-doze pot to save a space)

- Death Runes (about 100 runes will do)

- Mind Runes (about 4 times the Death Runes will do)

- Spade

- Good Melee Weapon (like a Dragon Dagger (p++))

- Rune Platebody

- Rune Platelegs

- Magic Shortbow

- Sharks or Monkfish (19-20 or less depending on how many Prayer Potions you bring)

 This inventory is made up by having 1-2 Prayer Pots as more like precausion because you shouldn't need to drink more than 2 dozes to kill the first 2-3 brothers. A Dragon Dagger (p++) is also usefull with this method as it is very usefull at that cost for it. If you use this method you should also have nothing lower than Rune armour as rune isn't that expensive anyway compared to the lvl you are and the benefit you get from using it. So I would say that the risk of bringing it along is acceptable. I would also use nothing less than Monkfishes as food beacuse you will need some 10-15 of those to heal as you will fight 3-4 of the brothers without Prayer on.

(Optional 1: If you have a POH with an Altar and a Kharryl Portal you can bring some House Teleport Tablets instead of 1 Shark/Monkfish, so you can recharge your Prayer in your house instead of refill it with Prayer Potions at the Burgh the Rotten Bank)

(Optional 2: If you like you can bring along a Strenght, Attack and Range Potion instead of some food)

The idea about the outfit and the fight plan

- This outfit is for the players who have somewhat a medium combat lvl (90+).

- It's also for those players who have quite high stats in the skills required to be good at the Barrows (Range, Magic, Defence, Slayer (lvl 55)) but do not have the money to buy or the will to risk Barrows equipment at the Barrows but that are still willing to risk a fair amount to get some higher benefits that comes with wearing and wielding better equipment.

- The idea is to take out Dharok first and then either Ahrim (remember to use Range on him, not Magic)/Karil (or both if you kill Dharok and the chosen brother fast or have a high Prayer lvl) with Slayer/Magic Darts with Prayer on and then mage the other brothers without Prayer on or with just little Prayer help drinking 1-2 dozes of Prayer Potions.

- The specific order in which to kill the brothers isn't really set more than you will have to start with Dharok and then go on to either Ahrim or Karil or both of them, then you can kill the other melee brothers in whatever order you fancy.

- If either Dharok, Ahrim or Karil is the one in the tunnel you should use Prayer on the brother in the tunnel too, as you would do if that brother was in his mound.

- Then you change to your melee outfit when you go down the tunnel and fight the tunnel monsters.

- When you are finished with the run you either walk back to the Burgh the Rotten bank and use Prayer Potions to refill your Prayer and restock or use a House Teleport Tablet and recharge your Prayer out your house's Altar and then use your house's Kharryl Portal to teleport to Canafis Pub and restock at the Canafis Bank.

Rich/High lvl/High Risk Outfit

Skill requirements

Combat = 90+

Defence = at least 75

Attack = at least 70 (to be able to wield Guthan's Warspear)

Range = at least 70 (to be able to wear and wield the Karil's equipment)Magic = at least lvl 70 (to be able to hit more often and better with the spell)

Prayer = 60+ (preferably 70+ to be able to use this method with lower risk)

Slayer = 55 (to be able to wield a Slayer Staff)

Quest Requirements

In Aid of the Myreque

Ghost Ahoy

Recipe for Disaster

Horror from the Deep

- You have to have completed the whole Recipe for Disaster quest to be able to buy and wear the Barrows Glove from the chest in the Lumbrigde Castle cellar.

- You have to have completed the Horror from the Deep quest to be able to buy and fill a God Book.

The Outfit

(insert picture of the outfit here)

Head: Farseer's Helm or Torag's Helm

Shoulders: God Cape or Lava Cape or Obsidian Cape

Back: Bolt Racks (about 100) or Rune Arrows (about 50)

Neck: Amulet of Fury or Amulet of Glory

Body: Verac's Brassard/Torag's Platebody/Dharok's Platebody + Karil's Leathertop

Weaponhand: Slayer Staff + Guthan's Spear + Karil's Crossbow

Shieldhand: Book of Zamorak or Rune Defender

Finger: Ring of Life

Legs: Torag's Platelegs or Dharok's Platelegs + Karil's Leatherskirt

Feet: Infinity Boots

Hands: Barrows Gloves

 This outfit is for the players that have the required skill lvls to wear and wield the outfit and who have the money to buy it or the will to risk such an expensive outfit. You can choose either the Zammy Book or the Rune Defender, depending on how regularly you think you hit with Slayer/Magic Dart without the Book wielded. You can wield the Book when you kill the borthers and then change it to the Defender when you kill tunnel monsters. The choise is of course yours :)

The Inventory

(Insert picture of the inventory here)

- Prayer Potion (1 3/4-dozes pot will do - just as a precausion)

- Death Runes (about 100 runes will do)

- Mind Runes (about 4 times the Death Runes will do)

- Spade

- Guthan's Warspear (to heal on the Tunnel Monsters as you raise the KC) or Dragon Dagger (p++)

- Karil's Leathertop (wear this when you fight Ahrim and/or Karil and Guthan)

- Karil's Leatherskirt (wear this when you fight Ahrim and/or Karil and Guthan)

- Karil's Crossbow (weild this when you fight Ahrim)

- House Teleport Tablets (the same amount as the amount of runs at the Barrows you will make)

- Sharks or/and Monkfishes (the rest of the spaces left in your backpack)

(Optional: You can bring a Super Set along instead of some food if you want to boost your effort)

 This inventory focus on the melee outfit which you use on the melee brothers then the range/magic outfit that you use on Ahrim and Karil. To save up some food you can bring along Guthan's Warspear and heal up on tunnel monsters as you kill them to raise your KC. You can save up several foods with this method and you then have some more food you can use when fighting the brothers that are in their mounds as you then now that you can use up more food on them beacuse you don't have to heal up with so much food in the tunnel when using Guthan's Warspear. 1 Prayer Potion (preferably a 4-dozes one) should be brought along as a mear precausion if something, for whatever reason, will not go as planed.

The idea about the outfit and the fight plan

- This outfit is for players who have can afford to buy this outfit and are willing to risk expensive items at the Barrows.

- It's also an outfit for players with 90+ combat preferably.

- The overall idea is to only use the charged Prayer and when it's 0 you don't refill it with Prayer Potions except if you really need it.

- Use Prayer on Dharok and then on the borther/borthers you think are the worst threat to you (I would suggest Ahrim or Karil or both of them) and when it runs out you heal up with the food you brought along.

- So the order in which to kill the brothers isn't that specific with this method either, just kill Dharok first and then Ahrim or Karil or both and then kill the melee brothers in whatever order you like as your Prayer will be at 0 sometime after the 2-3 brother anyway.

- If Dharok is in the tunnel you should use Prayer on just Ahrim or Karil, or both if you think there will enough Prayer left to kill Dharok with it, and then turn it off to use the remaining when you kill Dharok in the tunnel.

- The attack idea is to cast Slayer/Magic Dart on all brothers except Ahrim, whom you range with your Karil's Crossbow.

hellbellz wrote

KarilÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôs should be worn instead of GuthanÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôs against Guthan and Ahrim, it gives better magic attack and defense bonus.

- For all borthers, except Ahrim and Guthan and maybe Karil too, you wear the melee outfit (Platebody+Platelegs) and then you change outfit to range/magic (Leathertop+Leatherskirt) when you fight Ahrim and Guthan and maybe Karil too.

- When you go down the tunnel you wear the melee outfit and wield Guthan's Warspear (or if you substituted it for a Dragon Dagger (p++), you wield that instead).

- If you wield Guthan's Warspear you can heal up on the unnel monsters as you raise your KC too, this will save you some food, as explained before.

- When the run is completed you use a House Teleport Tablet and teleport back to your house where you recharge your Prayer at the Altar and teleport back to Canafis Pub with the house's Kharryl Portal.

- Back in Canafis you can restock at the Canafis Bank and then run to the Barrows again through the shortcut in the trapdoor behind the Canafis Pub.

I'm going to but in pics of the outfits so if you have a pic a might use u can PM me and we can arrange so that I get the pic and post it in my guide. That would be much appriciated.

Otherwise I'm all for constructive critisism and if you want me to add something to the guide, just post it here in this thread or PM me about it.

Sorry but this isn't that great of a guide. Karils should be worn instead of guthan against Guthan and Ahrim, it gives better magic attack and defense bonus. You basically repeat what you do in each section with different armor, no need for that.

I have changed alot of things in the guide now and put in 4 pictures of the outfits and the inventory you should wear/wield/bring along. I've also added some more explainations to the order in which to kill the brothers in each of the 3 guide versions. I've also rearranged some of the text so that each of 3 guides is presented in a better way than before.

I still need a picture of someone wearing the melee set (Farseer Helm - God Cape - Bolt Rack (100) - Amulet of Fury - Verac's Brassard or Torag's Platebodyor Dharok's Platebody - Slayer Staff - Book of Zamorak - Ring of Life - Torag's Platelegs or Dharok's Platelegs - Infinity Boots - Barrows Gloves), so if someone would be so kind to take a picture of you wearing all that equipement and let me use it in my guide I will be grateful and you will be mentioned in the Thank You notes in the guide.

I also still need a picture of someone with the follow in their backpack (1 Prayer Pot (either a 3 or 4-dozes) - 100 Death Runes - 400 Mind Runes - Spade - Guthan's Warspear - Dragon Dagger (p++) - Karil's Leathertop - Karil's Leatherskirt - Karil's Crossbow - 5 House Teleport Tablets - the rest of the backpack filled with Sharks and/or Monkfishes), so if someone would be kind to take a picture with that inventory in your backpack and let me use it in my guide I will be grateful and you will be mentioned in the Thank You notes in the guide.

All other constructive critisism is welcomed \'

I've change the guide even more now and made it more easily readable with a content table and more distinction of the different headlines in the guide.

I've gotten over 100+ views in my guide but only like 5 ppl have bothered to reply something. I want to know if anyone finds it useful now after the redoings and if it needs to be changed even more and how.

I still also need pic of someone wearing/wielding the rich/high lvl/high risk outfit and the inventory to that. This is because I don't have all those items myself at the moment and it would help and finish the outfit+inventory pics off so I can maybe add other pics too later. So if you mind wearing/wielding and inventory the stuff I've stated in the last outfit and inventory and taking a screen of that and let me use it in my guide I would be very happy and be very appriciated.

It's a nice guide, but there are already so many other guides out there. This guide doesn't add something new to barrowing.

- You have to have completed the In Aid of the Myreque quest to be able to use the Burgh the Rotten bank .

I believe its Burgh de Rott, not Burgh de Rotten :XD:

9/10, good info, but ther is a zillion barrows guides out there.

Karils should be worn instead of guthan against Guthan and Ahrim, it gives better magic attack and defense bonus.

Why would you wear karil's when fighting guthan. Guthans attacks with spear, which is a melee attack. Therefore you want melee defence not magic defence.

To Nitram99

I do barrows fairly often using full Guthans, and the inventory you have suggested ignores the whole point of taking guthans in the first place.

Well, full Guthan's should then be extreme risk/wealthy playerstyle as it is quite expensive and if you get much lag or the game crashes or your computer suddenly without warning restarts (which my comp do sometimes) I'd loose some of that gear.

I only considered 3 playerstyles and I didn't put in doing Barrows in full Guthan's becasue it is/was to expensive of a method/playerstyle for me.

My guide is just for like beginners and to give them a fair view of what they need to wear+backpack in contrast to how wealthy they are and how much of a risk (as to risk loosing stuff due to lag, comp restart, game crashes and such)) bringing to Barrows. I assume most Barrows beginners don't have full Guthan's or want to bring and risk it at Barrows.

But as ppl have said, there are loads of Barrows Guides out there and mine is aimed at beginners and giving them a fair idea of what they can wear and have in their inventory when starting Barrows. It would be foolish of me to write a comprehensive Barrows guide as there are tons of them out there and there are ppl with loads of more experiense of Barrows than me that have written such guides. So this guide doesn't aim for that at all.

1. Not a great guide compared to AOW guides

2. You need all of the pieces of guthan's armor for the healing to work

3. Refilling prayer with ppots is very expensive

4. Whenever you are in a crypt, your prayer drains, so you can't "save it for dharok"

5. 100 mith arrows is a little overkill. Also, in the beginner's section, the order does matter, because you want the brothers that will take the longest to kill first, and the easiset ones last.

6. There are safespots in the tunnels that can be used to take out any of the melee brothers without using prayer.
