blakdragon39
I DEFENITLY like the surprise that comes with the updates. I like reading the BTS too, but I don't want to know in exact detail what is gonna happen. It just discourages me. I didn't even try to raise slayer for the dark bow, hunter for the dragon arrows, etc. :shame: Jagex should defenitly fix this.
Wachtwoord
I'd like to go further on what Freesia said. If people are hinted there is coming something new for a skill, they all immediatly assume it's something good, but it turns out to suck. So people feel sad and start to rant. (A good example is the chaos altar short cut, everybody expected blood runecrafting, but everybody was very disappointed afterwards.) I'd say by removing BTS there will be less spectaculations and less disappointment. Or the total opposite can be done, telling exactly what we're going to get. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
newb4lyfe7
I personally think this is a bad thing because, like you said, it takes all of the fun out of being SURPRISED! What good would a surprise birthday party be if the person being surprised already knew about it 4 weeks in advance? the fun would drain within an hour of knowing about it. :shame:
neolink458
I don't really like BTS. Whenever they say coming updates people have very high expectations and when they come out, they just complain.
SanNo1
I think BTS should not give away as much infomation as it does. For example take the Dark Bow update, I think Jagex should have only released information along the lines of This month we will be releasing a powerful new bow, the 'Dark Bow', which will able to fire a new highly anticipated arrow obtained from a new minigame This way, players can speculate and discuss ideas, which is a hell of a lot more exciting than giving away every detail. I know this way probably leads to more rants but heck, I'd like to be surprised by something. i agree, it's nice to hear something about an update like you described because that would be fun speculating. This would cause a flooding madness to the future update suction of the RSOF though :XD: There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth. Makoto_the_Phoenix
I'm going to have to say that a Behind the Scenes is quite bad. Here's why: If you all recall just in April, we had our BTS that announced bracelets and along with Slayer-oriented jewelery. Turns out that this was just a Dragonstone Bracelet which only told you how many you had to go in tens, when it was charged. Of course, people making serious assumptions about what "Slayer Jewelery" were went and bought something like 200-1K Slayer gems, when that wasn't even involved at all. Know what the people who thought they were 'prepared' for this particular update did? They ranted because a certain feature wasn't included that they believed was going to happen. I can recall even another example when Player Owned Houses was announced. I've never seen so many people in the Wilderness gathering tiles/PKing people for tiles... :P One final recollection is when the Farming skill was planned to be released. People bombarded the Master Farmers for a month straight (I'm surprised that Martin can afford that cape!), hoping to get as many seeds to be the first to 99. No one knew that it would be a time-oriented skill, and thus, many were displeased/ranted with it. ------ I hope you can see where I'm going with this. Just because we know the future doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. In fact, citing those three examples above, I honestly believe that knowing what will happen this month does us more harm than good. PastyGangsta
I like them because I can find out what I should be doing to prepare. But if its something like graphical updates I dont read them because I like to be surprised... :
Lugia_Lvl138
Good. Because it benefited me directly. When they announced that the Dark Bow was coming, I was 88 Slayer. I was able to book it to 90 in time for the update. Had it been a total suprise, I would have been forced to use Wild Pies at 20k each :ohnoes:. I got 5 bows in 4 days, for a 28m profit. Also it helped take my mind off of my wisdom teeth. I left to get all 4 pulled like 10 minutes after I read June behind the scenes. 4x Phat owner: Blue, Green, 2x Purple 3100+ GWD bosses soloed.Solo GWD Drops:5 Bandos Plates, 4 Bandos Boots, 3 Bandos Hilts, 2 Arma Helms, Arma Skirt, Arma Plate, 3 Arma Hilts, 4 Zammy Spears, Steam Staff, 15 Sara Swords, 6 Sara Hilts, 29 Shards.
