warri0r45
I definately appreciate the genre. Craps all over 99% of the [cabbage] you hear on the radio. I feel a similar way about blues. Great stuff. Reccomend any Jazz artists be they modern or old?
assassin_696
Jazz is one of those genres which I would love to listen to and know about but I just find it really hard to get into because it's so overwhelming. I can definitely appreciate jazz music though, but personally I prefer the blues. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
RuDuDe2202
Wow, thats awesome because people these days only listen to rap and pop which rives me crazy. Both modern and old musicians are good, even if theyre dead.(even if they died from drug abuse  ) I like JJ johnson because i play Trombone myself. Its a shame most jazz musicians cant get a real job even though they have more musical talent than most (i mean all) rap.pop artists.
How2PK
Starting to get into it more now. And it's really good. Need to take some time to get into it though, because there's so much. So I'm just randomly buying stuff here and there to figure it out a bit. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! RuDuDe2202
I find it easier to listen than other stuff. You can actually hear the structure of it and the significance. Overwhelming would be like Maynard Ferguson or crappy metal bands yelling random stuff and playing really loud.

warri0r45
Even though he was a blues artist, I was listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughn the other night on the radio. My god could that bloke play the guitar. He's does a mean version of voodo chile by Hendrix too. Man, that's what I call music.
Futurama
I don't follow the genre but certainly appreciate it, even studied how to record and master it :) One of my friends was watching glastonbury on bbci at the weekend and said "yeah, past midnight it was just all this boring jazz [cabbage]." We got into one hell of an arguement...hahah
seph_ir_oth
There was a Jazz feast down here in Wilmington, DE. It went on for 5-6 days, and they were AMAZING! hoovermage
I love jazz and i am going to major in jazz piano and guitar in college. How cool is that. I like playing it better than listening. And already being a professional musician at age 15 (weddings) can realy bring in some money. 98% Of teenagers surround their minds with rap music, if you're part of the 2% that stayed with rock, put this in your signature, ROCK IS BETTER! Oh god yeah, he's bloody awesome with a guitar, such flair and talent it's staggering. A great, great blues musician as well. Anyway, back on to jazz, as someone who likes Miles Davis, where would I go from there? "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
Necromagus
http://smoothjazz.com/ I listen to their online radio a lot when doing homework (or use it as background music during 'private' moments), and their listening loft is a great source for new music. The only jazz album I own physically is Koop Island Blues by Koop, although that's more of a jazz fusion album. Deaners1212
I don't really think I have good taste it Jazz, but I really like Kind of Blue and [bleep]es Brew. I also really like Chick Corea. Steve Gadd is one of the best jazz fusion drummers alive. Back to P2p soon!
How2PK
Anyway, back on to jazz, as someone who likes Miles Davis, where would I go from there? CHarles Mingus, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter. :) And it hasn't got much to do musically with Miles Davis but you should check out Weather Report as well. Some of the members have played together with Miles on various albums, so there is a link. And check out Jaco Pastorius' solo work, he's exceptionally skilled. And I can't state this enough. Get Steely Dan - Aja. And Donald [bleep]en - The Nightfly, if you haven't already. And it's good to see some Steve Gadd appreciation on here. :) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
