Maturity in a Player

Maturity is not defined by age, simple as that. Its simple to say that all the Runescape scum out there is below the age of 13 but that is probally only 30% or so of the populas. The rest are through the age 13-17 who have an iq of a tennis ball. Its quite easy to say, "Hey, I'm above 13 so I am automatically mature". Wrong! Sometimes 30 year olds have no maturity, just depends on who you are.

 

 

 

My point in this post is that everyone seems to be going on and on about the miniclip users and users below the age of 13 players, and blaming them for all the noobs on runescape.

 

 

 

What makes you mature(In my eyes):

 

Respectful

 

Good use of grammar, typos will always happen but your grammar will always show what kind of a person you are.

 

The word noob has no definition to you, if you ever use it its only to joke around.

 

 

 

What makes you immature:

 

Acting like a moron and getting past the swear filter on runescape.

 

Excessively bad grammar, including things such as "hahahhah, lol dud u gt pwnd massivly". You use grammar like that and you shouldn't be playing a game, you should be in school

 

Your whole vocabulary exists around the words, "nub, pwned, owned, pl0x, and noob"

 

 

 

 

 

Specifically towards bad grammar, please take the extra second it takes to attach all the letters to your words. It allows people to understand you, you gain self respect, and you look smart.

i rarely use the words owned and noob, i only use them because that is the only way most 'scapers know what i mean. i use " u, r, gonna, buyin" things like that only because it helps me type faster, as i have gotten so accustomed to saying that it woould tremmendously slow down my typing if i didn't. but yes, i agree with you.

hehehe, well, i don't think about rs or the internet when i do schoolwork, i just focus on doing my best on it, and i don't misspell stuff. i'm VERY good at spelling :mrgreen:

i have to dissagree with you good spelling is not a sign of being a mature

 

this happed to a friend of mine

 

his parents find out their child has a physical disablity

 

so he gets taken out of class for physical theropy

 

now the kid as a disabilty and a speeling problem

 

that kid is now 19 has a 2.0 in collage and is an egale scout yet his spelling problemhas stayed with him to this day

 

now tell me how is he imature

Duckersmash3 has a point. They could be mature but might be developmentally delayed. They could be respectful people. Also, English may not be their first language. So spelling and grammarical errors will occur. That won't base it on their maturity level. You are right about the respectful part though. Even though you cannot spell properly or have very bad grammerical skills, you are still mature because you respect other people no matter what their level is and even if they are acting like a complete idiot.

I agree with Duckersmash3 on some level. Bad grammar can't really detect ones maturity. A person with bad grammar may still be mature, in the ways such as respect to other players and general attitude online. Even someone who rarely talks could be mature (or imature for that matter).

I played from miniclip when I started, and I think I am a pretty mature person. and I also agree with Duckersmash. But when you start speaking fluently in "1337" then that really bugs me.

Thank you. :) Where I was going was making a topic showing people that just because you are above 13 doesn't make you anymore mature. Or the fact that you didn't come from miniclip makes you amazing, no it just means you found out from a different source.

There is always going to be a special case out there that breaks the mould. If you have mental problems then yes you aren't fully mature, you may be the nicest person in the world but part of your brain isn't working properly then you will never be fully "mature".

Actually it can it most cases. If you ask say this question; "Hey man, I just started and I was wondering if there is a storage area for my items around here". How old would you consider him, 13 or 18? Now if the next person comes up and says; "hay u, do u now were the bnk iz?" how old do you think he is? 13 or 18.

 

 

 

Watching how someone types can give you a lot of insight on that person. Once again there will be special cases to the rule, but if you play Runescape 90% of the time you know English, considering Runescape is only in English and German currently.

That right there is what he is talking about when saying "Use Proper Grammar." Its really not that difficult to put periods at the end of sentences, or capitalize things. I only write stuff improperly to make it look fancy (Ex. The PastyGangsta would normally be The Pastygangsta, but it doesn't look quite as nice.).

I agree with the topic. As for the grammar, I use Rs-exclusive things like "Buy addy baxe" but I've given up on using "u" and "i" a long time ago (well, especially since the chat update. It was horrible before, with not letting you capitalise the "I"-s)

So you dont use "i"..i hate to break it to you but I is a word. So i'd say "i am going to buy a lobster" and what would you say?

 

 

 

Oh and spelling can have a correlation with your maturity, some people spell words wrong on purpose just so they could look "cool" or whatever. Its people who spell things incorrectly when it doesn't even save them any time at all.

 

 

 

"u" takes about 0.02 seconds less than "you", and surely people must be used to spelling things properly because thats how they learn it in school, it must be second nature to say "you" because you'd never put "u" on homework..
