Kashi Posted June 26, 2007 Share Posted June 26, 2007 Well, I've wanted for a while to move my computer back to the empty bedroom in our house, because my mom always sleeps on the couch for some reason (she has a king size bed), and whenever she wakes up in the middle of the night and sees me on the computer, of course she has to scream at me. I finally got hey permission to move the computer, the only problem was that there is no cable outlet in that bedroom, and we have Roadrunner (cable) internet service. So, the only way I could move the computer is if I installed a new cable outlet into that bedroom. And since I'm the one who wanted to do it so bad, my mom insisted that I do all the work myself ... So, even though I finally got a membership today, I couldn't play for most of the day, because all my time was spent trying to work out how to do this. So finally, after about 6 hours of work ... Drilling holes ... Running wires ... Crawling around in the attic ... Drilling more holes ... Finding out that I put the holes in the wrong place and have to patch them up now ... Crawling around in the back yard with a flash light ... Cleaning cat feces off all the wires for my computer! (My cat decided that 'under the desk' is his new litterbox) Moving electrical equipment ... Hooking everything back up and realizing that I made a mistake ... Running more wires ... I now have my computer in a nice empty bedroom where I can no-life in peace. You have my permission to be amazed. At night I can't use the desktop because: a) My parents can proboly hear it through the door at night B) The side piece is clear and had a green light on it permanatly c) Theres 2 blue flourecent lights on the front, though I can turn those off. Using laptops in bed is uncoftorble though, it stats to dig into your chest if your on your back. Congrats on the DIY, I would have just bought a router. I've also got a decent tv..where they bought a new HD Tv..they moved the old 27" back to mom's room..so i got the one she used to have. and since we never used the satellite box downstairs, I brought that into my room ^_^ Add in the fact that all my conole games are there, too..and my room's a cave =P~ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
