kelbri Posted June 28, 2007 Share Posted June 28, 2007 That MoM has been going crazy on me lately. Here's my deal... I am 30 years old and work at an Architectural firm. I get an hour for lunch, so that's about all the time lately that I get to play, as my wife and I are renovating our house, so I don't get to play at home. In the last two days, playing less than an hour a day since I still have to eat during my lunch break, I have gotten: 2 mimes 1 freaky forester about 2k gp from 4 or 5 mysterious boxes Previous to this, in my year of playing (set up account May '06), I had gotten 1 mime and 1 freaky forester. So the question I ask, am I acting that much like a macroer, or is Jagex trying to crack down way more on the macros by throwing them off guard with randoms, and this is spilling over to all players? I have been runecrafting (bodies) and looking for another staff in the SoS, to use in body runecrafting. This isn't a rant, or much of a discussion starter, but I am just wondering if others are getting the same thing lately?!? edit: Please don't post all about your hatred for random events, or the fact that they are random. This isn't about the fact that they piss you off. This is about how I have gotten at least 7 in less than 2 hours of playing, and I'm wondering if anybody else is experiencing this volume of randoms lately as well. Sometimes inopourtune moments, and if you get one that tele's you and returns you, and you're fighting high level monsters that have stopped auto attacking you, they will start again, or when your fighting and get the frog princess, so you try to talk to her, but the monster keeps attacking and cancelling your talking... Yes, I understand that they can annoy people, that's one of the reasons that they are there. But I didn't start this thread to complain about them, or tell everyone that they piss me off. I got hit with a Mime event twice in one sitting (got the top, pants, gloves, and boots) when I was fighting Flesh Crawlers. I don't think that'll ever happen again with any random event for as long as I play. :lol: I really think it's just coincidence, though. I know JAGeX is taking extra precautions due to all of the macroers but I don't think they're increasing the rate of random events. Although I wouldn't mind one more Mime event for the mask. mirage Posted June 28, 2007 Share Posted June 28, 2007 I have seem to be getting more randoms lately also, and it also seems that i will get a string of the same kind, then have a break and then get another string of another kind, ex: 4 or 5 mom's in 2 or 3 days then about a week or two of nothing, then 3 or 4 evil bobs in a couple of days. They're designed as an anti-botting mechanism, and since most bots are for things like Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing, etc, the frequency of random events will greatly increase when you're doing that sort of thing. If you just stand still and don't move a cell, you wont get any randoms! Thus, they are not random! They're only initiated when you perform certain actions!
