July 1, 200719 yr Once again the liberal media tries to persuade people to revolt against the government, what else is new?
July 1, 200719 yr and you wonder why no one likes bush, even his own party.... :wall: We may not like him, but it's a lot better than who we could've had  :uhh: I feel sorry for the next president. Not only do they have to pick up where Bush left off..but they've got to deal with the war, among other things. I can't help but think this..maybe Bush isn't so bad a president, but between Katrina, Earthquakes, 9/11, and the war..don't you think the public opinion he has now was kind of forced upon him, in a way?
July 1, 200719 yr I'm not familiar with the American govn't, but isn't it possible to do something called "impeaching" the president, which is just getting enough people to kick him out of office. Can this not happen? *Sigh*.... And all us Canadians can do is sit back and hope that we don't get part of the shockwave (Which we always do  ) Happy Canada day to fellow Canadians! Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
July 2, 200719 yr At least if this passes and he doesn't liquidate the entire senate, there's still hope.
July 2, 200719 yr I bet the US could do it better than Germany considering our Alliances with the Allied Forces of WWII/ Oh, and having the largest Navy on the planet and the third largest army only contested by North Korea (dictator) and China (Communists). What, in holy smeg, are you talking about? hes talking about how hitler said the same thing Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.

July 2, 200719 yr A month ago, I was talking to my friend about ancient Rome and how similar the US is to it. There's a lot alike between the two civilizations. Both have Republics, both are powerful, etc. And then I got to Caesar. I said "Watch Bush turn out to be a dictator sometime soon, and then he gets assassinated and the US Empire is formed." We've got the dictator part. Maybe. Now, who wants to assassinate him? (I have a feeling half of you have no idea what I'm talking about. Oh well.) Anyways...I don't know why people hate Bush. I don't think he's a great president, but he was decent until the War in Iraq started. He got us in it, he better get us out. Or else. Can this not happen? Impeaching is the process of taking the president to court. Bill Clinton was impeached, but he was not found guilty and therefore stayed the president. If found guilty it is then the second stage called conviction, and that is when the president would be removed. Been a while since a government class but I am pretty sure that is how it went.

Problem is, even though enough of the american population wants him out of office, not enough of the congress does. I believe they need 2/3s to do something that drastic, right? And anyways, with bush constantly increasing the power of the executive, im not sure if he'd allow the congress to impeach him during a time of "national emergency" or anything like that. PDM
July 3, 200719 yr There is actually a fantastic book called "The Case For Impeachment" explaining all the reasons why illegal things Bush has done warrant impeachment (and are more serious than Bill Clinton's - where people were as angry over his infidelity as his lying under oath, which shouldn't have been the issue). I've heard the author lecture, and I'd recommend it. Everybody hug and spread the love :D
July 3, 200719 yr I just knew it would come to this.. :XD: This reminds me of the "emergency power" given to darth sidious in the star wars prequels... Hegemony-Spain
July 3, 200719 yr "I believe President Bush is the Sith Lord we have been looking for" Haha, nicely said... I was just about to say that, even if it is from an extremely popular series of movies, history is bound to repeat itself. In the crisis, Prime Chancellor Palpatine (played by President Bush!) appoints himself "temporary emergency powers...to be removed upon the end of the crisis." There's the Republic, the evil "Sith," the crisis because of the Separtists (or, in our case, terrorists)... The whole nine yards... Look at the subject of this... Lol. Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz. The logic of people here at tip.it is just so great. The whole idea of a glitch is that it's not your fault, but hey, we'll just say it's your fault anyway.

The only thing that the president actually has any real power over is the armed forces (and he even has to answer to Congress about that). Congress simply won't allow what Bush is talking about. Bush kept us alive, so I hold no grudges with him. With ideas like this though, it's about time to get his [wagon] out of office.
July 3, 200719 yr $5 says there's gonna be a "national crisis" sometime in the next, I dunno, year-and-a-half or so?
July 3, 200719 yr Vote Bush/Cheney '08! Who wants to bet that there's gonna be another 'terrorist' attack before the '08 elections? There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
