New Presidential Directive Gives Bush Dictatorial Power

Featured Replies

With scarcely a mention in the mainstream media, President Bush has ordered up a plan for responding to a catastrophic attack.

In a new National Security Presidential Directive, Bush lays out his plans for dealing with a ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åcatastrophic emergency.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Hmm interesting.

Maybe it would actually help get things dont fast though. I mean in the recent disasters there have always been complaints about the government not sending Aid fast enough. So maybe this would help get things done quicker in a state of emergency. But then again, something bad always seems to happen when one person is in charge.

Any takers on a 'terrorist attack' two days before the elections?

Given the recent developments in the UK - yea, i'd take that bet.

He has said over and over again that he would prefer a dictatorship because of it's simplicity. Funny as it's exactly what Hitler did.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

No Hollywood Hogan this time, folks.

Reminds me of the President in Escape from L.A appointing himself for life.

I bet the US could do it better than Germany considering our Alliances with the Allied Forces of WWII/ Oh, and having the largest Navy on the planet and the third largest army only contested by North Korea (dictator) and China (Communists).

Better in what? Better than taking over the world? Are you mad!? Do you have any idea what a full scale war against China could do? And even *if* King George conquors a large mass of the world, who do you think is going to guard it? The army? Ha you wish, they'll be too busy elsewhere. They're going to force people into military service, perhaps you. Do you think the entire Nazi Army where die-hearted Hitler loyalists? Hell no! Most of them were forced into military service.

Why is it that everytime bush gets into the spot light, he makes a complete idiot of himself?

How do you define a catastrophic attack? Bush being tripped up by someone that looks vaguely muslim.

What, in holy smeg, are you talking about?

This is vaguely reminiscent of Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell.

He's saying that Bush could pull of taking over the world, like Hilter wanted to do.. because we have allies, the largest navy, and the 3rd largest army (but the most technological advanced).

A year and a half till he's out of office...a year and a half till he's out of office...a year and a half till he's out of office...*eye twitches*

Heh, one of these days it's going to get bad enough to start a revolution. Hopefully he doesn't go out of his mind if a "major catastrophe" happens right before the next president comes into office (January 2009) and decide that he needs to stay in power for a while longer, that would just be scary.

Yeah - this has been precisely the reasoning for dictatorship and monarchy in times past - going back to Hobbes at least.

However, the unfortunate complications of such concentrated power have, I hope, been shown over time to be well not worth it.

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

Yup. It would work if a flawless person was in power but of course, like you said, when one person gets too much power it never turns out good.
