Vaskor
I was wondering if many people actually do small time merchanting. I mean selling various items like knifes, ropes, rings, bronze bars etc. to other players for outrageous prices (2-20K). I do it a lot and found it a very fun and interesting way to make money. Even wrote an article in the blog about it here Small Time Merchanting. What do you think about this way to make money? Is it rip off and should be discouraged? Or on contrary very helpful in the game for all players involved? Have you ever bougth a bronze bar for 10K? Would you ever? NeXiLe
I've bought plenty of bad items for wayy too high of a price cause I'm too lazy to make them myself or I'm too impatient for a good price. Generally, when I see people asking that much money for a worthless item I have, I just give it to them for free. It's pretty unfair to sell someone a bronze bar for 20k just because they need it now.. which is why I'd just give it to them;\ I'm not too into merchanting.. but I do do it, I've been alching my way to 94 mage and every time I see a good deal, I jump on it and then sell the item again for more.. which is merchanting.. but I'm not really trying to do it:p Like today, I bought 10 black d hide sets 20k ea and traded 1 of them for a dragon battleaxe =o Anyways.. if that sort of stuff counts, yes I do.. if it doesn't, no I don't:p
Faelenof
When I was a member, I used to do a lot of small time merchanting as well, as you put it, although I didn't actually actively say "Selling rope 5k" or whatever. I had a lot of random junk in my bank that just started accumulating, but it certainly saved me a lot of trouble when I needed something odd for a quest (ie, by the time I was up to that huge list of 50 items we needed to give that dwarf for ME2, I already had about 25 of them). I usually just jumped to my bank whenever someone said something along the lines of "Buying molten glass 10k", pulled it out of my bank and sold it to them. I must have made around, oh, 200k doing this all in all in the space of about three or four months of members. Law runes (tons of people buy law runes for 1k ea in members), ropes (once someone offered 10k for one), duelling rings (usually at least 5k ea), the list goes on and on. Tons of people stand in banks selling stuff for outrageous prices, especially when a new quest comes out and the buyer can't be bothered getting it for themselves. I just sell the random junk to people that offer the price. I think it's a waste of time to stand in a bank selling random junk for huge prices (ie, in F2P lots of people sell laws for 1k ea). I just do small time merchanting when there's an opportunity. Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry! Embraced
When people are so desperate for a rope they offer 10k, i give them it for free because i'm often in the same situation. P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month. soxman45
8-) Im usually the one buying stupid stuff for outrageous prices. \ :-# Bought a chefs hat to get into cooking guild for 40k once. :-X Just for a chocolate bar! :XD: Retired as of August 23rd with 91 Firemaking and 6m xp in it. yerxa
I have sold lots of stuff to people for way too much. I spend a lot of time in Rouges Den (99 Cooking FTW), so I sell whenever I can. But I've also been on the other side, buying stuff for way more then it's worth, so I've probably broken even when all said and done.
Vaskor
When people are so desperate for a rope they offer 10k, i give them it for free because i'm often in the same situation. I give free items away from the bank. I would share food in Slayer dungeons and places like that. Or during quests and such. But when someone is willing to pay, why not :-) Runescape Reader's Digest
Mischlings
I've sold a cup of tea for 10k, a spade for 25k, probably 150 laws for 1k each, a knife for 9.7k, and once traded two laws for two rune bars. I do a lot of small time merchanting, as you can tell. You hang out in enough crowded banks and you'll be surprised how much you can make selling common items. whocares
I dont really do that. When people say they are buying small things like ropes or balls of wool or something like that, I usually just give it to them.
n64jive
I just sold a dueling ring for 7k. I don't consider this merchanting but more just helping someone out who doesn't care how much they spend...they just want the item now(btw, the guy was in the grand tree, so if he wanted the glider, it was only about 10 seconds away :S... Fairness
Well, if I get a lucky opportunity, I jump on it :) Though I don't really care what they offer. If they cut their promised price into half, who am I to care... as long as they offer more  Or if they just want one, and I have a spare, okay by me. You're being watched. spikerkid
I'm usually the person who pays for stuff like that. During quests if I need something out of the way to get i'll try to buy it for 25k and save time. I'm a lazy person :) Quit RuneScape :)
SwreeTak
The only very overprized thing I have ever bought was a cosmic rune for 5k. I have never bought something like a bronze bar or a hammer for like 1k, probalby because I'm a merchanter. So I'm pretty boring :P. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Jimmyw3000
i once sold a duel ring for a rune axe :P LOL, i traded my unfired bowl 4 a rune axe. Obviously doing D.Slayer.
Mazpot
I always keep a few redberry pies (bought cheap from the cooking guild) and sell them to people doing quests for as high as 20k so far :P I attempted to launch a fart, only to have it get stuck between my cheeks.
