Finally some basic common sense! People can say we overexaggerate all they want but the proof is in just playing runescape and seeing how obvious it is that on the whole we're correct.

figures are made up to make examples. in this case, it was just to make a point, he said that number to exaggerate and to get the point across that many pures are jerks. in a previous thread about defending pures, i used to numbers to make an equation. some of these numbers are facts, some of them i made up to make a point. i'll state the equation here.

there are roughly 10 million accounts made on runescape. about 200000 have been banned, and another 800000 people who have played for more than a month quit. if you count all the accounts who have played for less than a month you'd get about 2 million. so you have 9 million active accounts. there are about 1 million accounts tjhat have been created from the same ip address as another account. count out about 200000 people who have brothers or sisters that play in the same house, you have about 800000 accounts that have been created by people who already have an account. that's a lot of pures. now let's just say that 70% of pures have drop traded. i'd say that's about an accurate number as there are quite a few pures who follow the rules. you now have 560000 pures that have drrop traded, and 240000 that haven't. most of the people on this forum who have pures haven't drop traded, but i have seen a few mistakenly admit that they have. in fact about 70% of people who say they have pures on here have not admitted to drop trading in some way. since tip.it is pretty much the opposite of runescape, tip.it is mature while most runescapeans are jerks, i say that this can now prove that 70% of pures drop trade. 70% is a large amount, so it is obvious that the public will see this large amount rather than the 30% that don't drop trade. now we have the basis for a generalization. generalizations about people are too widely believed and used for the world's sake, and runescape follow this trend. now you have the reason why most 'scapers either dislike or hate pures.

Valid point, but what i'm trying to say is that i find it annoying when some says "90% of pures are jerks" or something along those lines.

most of them are exaggerating. it's just to make a point. the ones who truly believe it are the oones who are idiots. in all reality if numbers were the only way to prove something then i would be correct, the only numbers i made up i proved that they could be real statistics. so for all we know, it is likely that 70% of pures drop trade. and like i said, 70% is emnough to start a stereotype, which people have now proved to be a generalization.

This is stupid. Obviously nobody has accurate figures on whether, say, 90% of pures drop trade or act like morons. Their really going to admit that arent they?

I go on my own personal experiences. So far in Runescape ive met maybe 3 or 4 pures who didnt call me a noob just for standing there. Obviously the majority of pures (I.E. the obnoxious drop trading ones), gain a bad reputation for all pures.

Its a stereotype, yes, and there are obviously exeptions, its just a lot of the time stereotypes are unfortunately pretty accurate.

if you read my post, i actually proved that my numbers were correct. the final result might not have been true, but all the numbers i used were true. but yes, i have had te same experience, there have only been 5 pures that did not call me a noob or be a jerk on the spot, 3 of which i met at camelot today while getting 55 mage. i have met over 200 pures in my rs career, and 5 were not jerks or did not drop trade. i saw a level 45 with a dark bow today, he was pure. i highly doubt he got it without getting any stats in the high scores, becuase all he had was range. so in my experience 5 out of let's say 200. 97.5% of pures are jerks and break the rules in my experience, yet that number is probably false for all pures. i'm actually pretty sure now that it's 70%, math is one of the things that cannot lie unless you do something wrong, and all my calculations are correct.

I think (tryng not to generalise) that most people who have a pure (combat not skill) account tend to have a differnt personality type.

They are (again not wanting to generalise) on the whole ruder more imature and less understanding people. I would say the adverage pker pure are between the ages on 14-17 are male and American. Sorry guys but the steryotypical american teenage guy is not the most considerate of people.

As an account I have no issue with them..... all an account is is a name and a bunch of numbers, although differnt types of peopel are inclined to make differnt types of accounts. It is usually very easy to guess a personality from the number in the highscores.

that's what i do as well, but some people act horribly on their pures thinking it's not their main, while not realising that millions of gp go into them and if they get banned all that is lost. doesn't make sense to me :?

lol, refers to the topic I made in forums updates and suggestions. ^_^

There is no reason to stereotype a pures because another pure is rude. Insulting someone, or basising an argument at someone because they are a pure basically means the insulter(one who basis their argument around that the person is pure) is immature, and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Although if the pure did insult the other person, then anything goes in the argument/debate after that.

you're saying there's no reason to stereotype a pure because most pures are jerks? that's the whole idea of a stereotype. look, everyone knows that the majority of pures are jerks, but it's still no reason to walk up to a pure and say jerk, you're right about that. there are some good pures, but the majority of pures are illmannered and that's what's giving them a bad name. add that to the fact that a good amount of pures think drop trading or trransferring items from a main to a pures is legal, you have a generally accepted hatred of pures. and please nobody use the jealousy reason for hating a pure.... that's such a stupid reason because many pures drop trade.... therefore there's no reason to be jealous because that pure didn't earn it. anyway, the stereotype about pures is more of a generalization, a stereotype is something assumed with no experience, while generaliztions are just that, true for the general majority.

personally, i have no problem with pures. i have two, but i rarely play on them.

i just dont like the attitudes of the majority of pures ive met...a lot of it is low-leveled pures who are intent on one-upping anyone who belittles them...but their strategy is to mainly insult people and say 'noob' a lot.

i must say, a while ago when i was getting frustrated trying to save money for a green mask, i met a low-leveled iron pure with a fury...he must have been in the 40's for combat, because i immediately assumed he drop traded it, and told him i thought so. his reply wasnt entirely polite, but he put me in my place, telling me of all the clue trails he had done, finally getting a robin, selling it, and buying the fury. he said clueing was fun and often profitable...so i went to hellhounds in taverly, got a lvl 3 clue after a while, and ended up with a black cav...sure, its not total ownage, but i was glad i got it.

there are nice pures out there, and there are snotty ones.

but then, that applies to everyone.
