From what I understand, derivative works of copyrighted computer games are protected under the "fair use" doctrine - that is, as long as it is not used to generate a profit, then it's not a copyright violation.

by profit, you mean money right? Because a keylogger creator would technically profit from stealing passes.

 

 

 

What if...

 

 

 

A guy makes a keylogger and advertises it as an autoer on random youtube videos. Then, aftr stealing the accounts, SELLS the accounts to gold farmers? How much would that ruin the game and Jagex?

Anyway, youtube is a free site and is not profiting from Runescape vids, so I guess it's not violating the "fair use" doctrine. If anything, it's free advertising.

 

 

 

 

 

Of course, Jagex might not like free advertising because of what truths could be distorted about runescape, so that might be a reason that the vids are leaving youtube.
