Nearly fool-proof plan to destroy autoers! (for p mods)

Featured Replies

I just realized that the best way to make autoers stop is by having players stop them! Legitimate players have been messing with autoers for a while now (pking green drag autoers, luring yew autoers to the hobgoblins, etc).

My solution is to give player mods a new power- the ability to stop suspected autoers from using skills or buying from stores. This is similar to the way that p mods can temp mute players. When they see an autoer, simply click the autoer button, then the autoer can no longer cut trees, mine ess, pick flax, or do other similar things. The suspected autoer's skills can be instantly unlocked if he convinces the mod that he/she is a real person.

If they are not unlocked, jagex automatically gets an abuse report for that autoer. They can then ban the autoer before any damage is done to the economy.

The only problem with this plan is that player mods can't be everywhere, and they might make a mistake. But overall this should work well.

Sorry, but i dont see this happening...... What if someone just looked like an autoer, and they had their private chat on or something? Then they wouldn't be able to do anything, unfairly. And, watch out, alot of players will tell you that this could be abused. It could stop a few bots here and there, but its a big risk, accidentaly making players unable to do anything. Needs alot of work before it could be considered being used. :-k Good luck.

Yeah, I don't have a cool signature, so the MSSW3 sig will have to do....

Sorry mate, but this is nowhere close to "nearly full-proof". Between players with private chat off, potential other mistakes, and Player Mods just plain abusing their powers; this idea has a lot of holes and I doubt it could ever be implemented effectively.

Cowards can't block Warriors.

Most p-mods aren't that goody goody y'know. There would probably be a lot of abusing and blackmailing going on and then everyone would quit and no more runescape. Plus, would you imagine at training spots? P-mods want it to themselves, just lock everyone around thems' skills, instantly ruined a training spot.

A player has no reason to deliberately dress like an autoer because they know what people will think. They want to act like an auto then what are people supposed to think?

Even with private off you can see moderators words.

Then surely they would lose their moderator status after being reported for mis-use?

I think it is a decent idea. If anyone falsely gets in trouble it's because they were not paying attention (which maybe they should be) or they were actually autoing.

[spoiler=Stats:]Updated December 22, 2011:

Total level - 1442 - 170M+ XP , Combat level - 115

Combat skills: Attack - 90, Defence - 99 (24.45m+ XP), Strength - 90, Constitution - 99 (16.42M+ XP) Ranged - 99 (13.32M+ XP), Prayer - 60, Magic - 99 (13.25M+ XP)

Non-Combat skills: Cooking - 99 (13.80M+ XP), Woodcutting - 99 (31.95M+ XP), Fishing - 90, Firemaking - 99 (24.82M+), Crafting - 90, Smithing - 90, Mining - 85, Runecrafting - 60, Dungeoneering - 85

For those that mentioned that someone might have their private chat off, it wouldn't matter... Text from Pmods will appear in the chatbox no matter what.

Personally, I see no problem with this being implemented, or its affect.

The only real issues you'd be facing is the fact that Jagex are power hordes, and don't want to give pmods any more power in the game. That's the sad truth, which is expressed by the majority of the pmods.

I'm sure alot of people are going to come in here and say "Oh, but they culd abuse their pwerz!@1". Yes, they could. And they could with just the muting privelages. The risks would be the same, but with more possitive effects.

this has been suggested before. it isn't going to happen. If the victim isn't really a macroer then they basically cannot play, and you also have to count in human error (reporting the wrong person)

Player mods don't abuse their power

I am getting tired of saying this. If they do they are demodded (and that has only happened a few times)

So you know every p-mod personally then, and know that they're all whiter than white?

You can't just generalise, theres always going to be a few bad'uns mixed in with a lot of good'uns. Thats life

Yes, some mods do abuse their power

I heard about one that was quitting and muted everyone he saw before he got banned.

They arn't all too great. One of them told me to [cabbage] off.

A semi-decent idea, but it won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t happen unless Jagex completely change their mind about the P-mod status. The idea of being a P-mod is not to give them any additional powers over and above muting a player. Also, how would you stop a flax picker?

An idea I had was that if 4 or more Pmods report a player in a short space of time, the account gets locked immediately. That way any abuse would be restricted to gangs of Pmods who would get found out pretty quickly and severely punished themselves losing Pmod status and any other suitable punishment.

Teams of Pmods can get together for the betterment of RS, rather than locating a Jmod to ban the hordes of autoers one at a time.

Couldn't have said it better myself, btw, I think Jagex mods already do this, they just need to come ingame more often.

We tried using an abyssal whip to 'suggest' they work faster

I think this is a good idea. People seem to think it would get abused but i think a ton of bots would be banned and barely any legit players would.

1. Its incredibly easy to tell the bots with only a little observation

2. If a player was blocked by accident they could look around for the mod doing it and immediately try and talk to them and prove they arent a bot.

Its really not too difficult. If you are paying any sort of attention at all it would work. Even if a screen came up that had a timer on it that gave you a warning so that if you spoke to the person within the time limit they could stop the effect from happening.

Well a muted account would not be able to prove he is not macroeing and would just get banned, also you could not be able to find the mod that did it. It is not worth ANY real accounts getting banned or even temporarily un-usable. Knowing Jagex it would take a very long time to sort the false ones out.
