August 16, 200718 yr Well I see my grandparents often and I went to my mom's side grandparents yesterday and my grandfather insisted that I take some stuff from his antique collect, some of this stuff was old, some of the stuff was like 125+ years. Anyway, I went to the guitar section of his collect and he mostly had acoustics, I found an electric one I liked and he gave it to me (he said "thats all your taking Mikie???", lol). I spoke with my friend who plays guitar like 4hours a day and knows his guitars and he said it looked like a gibson hollow body but he couldn't tell specifics because I emailed him a picture, he said he'd see it next time he coems over. I looked all over it and couldn't find a brand, then I saw the back at the base of the neck were you can see someone removed the brand/model's name plate(its on almost every guitar). Then I remember my grandpa told me that on of his sons and a friend stole the knobs and that plate for some reason. I'm going to sand it, repaint it, replace anything needed, make it look all new and keep it but I want to know what specific brand and model it is before I do. My brother is a drummer and my grandpa gave him a snare and he found out after he cleaned it up that it was a dead brand and it was worth $500-600. Could it be the same for this guitar? Here are two images I took with my sidekick because my camera isn't charged in my great room (the second pic with the guitar on its face is abit lighter because I turned on the lights...lol): Face out: Face In: Blurry, yes I know.
August 16, 200718 yr Ibanez semihollow? I don't know, can you take a closeup of the head? It'll help. [>>Thanks to Yaff2 for Reaper,Trooper, and DOOM sigs, Navyplaya for nature sigs, Hardwick246 for gold sig, ThruItAll for Darkwatch and guitar sigs, and Aijiru for avvy!<<][>>Refresh for new Siggie!<<]
August 16, 200718 yr Looks like Gibson ES, not sure of the model number off the top of my head, but i'll look it up. I'd say it was the most popular model, the 335, but it could be anything really. What kind of pickups are they? Single coil or humbuckers? Also, it looks like the one nearest the next is missing? What does it say on the headstock? Edit: Yeah, looking at the fretboard that would fit with a 335, if it's genuine. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
August 16, 200718 yr No idea, lol. And the only reason I'm replying is so you dont get another view without a response :P
August 16, 200718 yr I'm agreeing with Assassin. Just posted so y'wouldn't have a view and no reply. >.> It really has
August 17, 200718 yr I'm no expert on this, but also would have said Gibson. Doesn't really matter what it is exactly, as long as it sounds good imo :D
August 17, 200718 yr A red one with strings :XD: The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
August 17, 200718 yr um i play the guitar but i have no idea looking at the picture and the link posted i'd say it was a gibson also. (i've never seen anything like it lol :P )
August 17, 200718 yr Looks like an Epiphone Alleykat to me  edit: Might be sheraton though hehe Ultra Unholy,Hearted Machine...
August 18, 200718 yr The boyfriend thinks it's a Gibson Lespaul The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
August 18, 200718 yr The boyfriend thinks it's a Gibson Lespaul Bad boyfriend, bad. Anyway, I'm just going to go with everyone else and say it's a Gibson. Someone else mentioned Epiphone, but I'd be slightly surprised if it was one (Shape looks different, and it's a different head. But I don't know, they may have changed the head shape over the years). Cool.
August 18, 200718 yr The boyfriend thinks it's a Gibson Lespaul Not a Les Paul. A variant of an ES possibly. The input jack is in an odd position.
August 18, 200718 yr Looks like its missing a toaster pickup, could be a Guild from looking at the headstock but the bridge dosn't match any of them and its not a gibson as none of the the older models have the same bridge also Gibson didn't do bolt on hollowbody necks. A closer picture will be better. Does it have a serial number aswell then you can work out the year. http://elderly.com/images/vintage/40U/40U-4195_headstock-front.jpg Looks simlar to your headstock
