Next time we gurantee to have all our editions out on time. Thanks for reading! Part One: Macros, the Double-Edged Sword by Randox This article aims to provide a (brief) explanation of what a macro is, and how they impact our in-game day-to-day lives. First off, what is a macro? A macro or ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâbot̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢, is a computer program that either assists a player by performing a repetitive action (such as mouse clicks or key strokes or both). In RuneScape most macros are programs that consist of many macro routines. These programs can find there way from point A (like a bank) to point B (like a flax field) where they can perform an action (like picking flax). The program will be able to know when it has a full inventory and will then normally return to point A (to deposit it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s load of items), where it will start the cycle over. Many macro programs are capable of dealing with at least some random events. Now before I go into how these macros affect our day-to-day lives, I shall give a very brief explanation of basic economic theory. The most basic principle, but still the most important, is supply and demand. This means that if there were enough people trying to buy a certain item that there were not enough sellers to supply said material, the price would start to rise. This is not because the sellers raise the price initially, but rather the buyers, seeing that many people want the same thing, will start to offer more than everyone else in an effort to get the trade. Next the sellers will realize some people are starting to offer more and will raise there price accordingly. On the flip side, when many people sell something but not many people wan̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t to buy it, the sellers will start to lower there price so that people will trade with them and not someone who is selling at a higher price. Eventually the buyers will notice and will start offering less money to match. Please note in Real Life, it does not work quite like this, I only explained RuneScape economics as supply and demand applies differently in reality. Now on to how the general populace is affected. As most macros are dedicated to gathering a raw material (flax, yew logs, lobster, dragon bones, etc.), and there are an awful lot of macros, we can see that they contribute a fair amount to the supply side of the economy while doing nothing to balance the demand side. This results in a lowering of prices for some materials. If you are a player who trains skills such as mining, woodcutting, fishing, etc., the macros can have a very negative impact on you. First off they take up things like mining spots, and yew trees. But the extra supply they create also means you cant sell your raw materials to other players for as much money. A notable example is the recent decline of flax prices, which have been a steady 100gp for a long time. Flax has started to sell for 80 or 90gp, due to increasing flax macros. Now for those of you who buy your materials to greatly increase the speed at which you level, here is something to consider (and most all players buy at least some resources rather than gather it themselves). If all the macros were suddenly banned, and they didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t return, there would be massive hikes in the prices of things like: dragon bones, flax, coal, yew logs, and possibly iron ore and logs above yew. And that is by no means a complete list, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s just something to give you an idea. So remember, for all the complaining that goes on about macros, Jagex has to be careful when they ban them (particularly mass banning) because they could very easily throw the economy into chaos, making many people very poor. Besides, you must also remember that with out macros, most things would be more expensive, and there is potential that items macros are not involved with could also be affected by an upset in the number of macros. I hope I have stimulated some thought from you, and helped you to understand how macros truly are a double edged sword. The games market has adapted to there presence and would take a long time to adapt to there absence, but we would adapt in time. Part Two: Macro Vs. Town Crier by Andufus Macro VS Town crier. As the sun glared at me through the window, it seemed to pierce my eye lids with brightness. It was even lighter than usual, and it seemed to have a determination around it. I put my hand in front of my face to block the light as I got up, and changed. I sat down, and thought of what to do. I fancy a spot of fishing. I walked slowly, out from brimhaven, past the dark volcano, and the dark scorpions, that seemed to stare after me. As I reached the old peer, wooden and damp, I saw three odd characters. They where dipping lobster cages, in complete unison into the water. Pulling them out, and taking out the contents, even when there wasn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t anything in there. I thought this as odd, so I slowly approached them. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅHello?̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà Thanks to the amazing talent of Jopie211 for the sig!Finest Fist of Guthix Strategy Guide

August 19, 200718 yr not bad. But: - Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of the drive-up ATM? It's cheaper for the companies to make 1 set of ATMs than 2.

August 29, 200718 yr First time reading the tribute. Interesting read, always good to see people who realise how much we depend on autoers for materials. The interview was also interesting, I was surprised at how well JaGEx's detection systems work. I'll be sure to read the next edition!
