Preview Signature.

Ok, first off, if this has already been posted, then my apologies and a Mod\Admin can delete.

 

 

 

 

 

I think that there should be a preview signature, so you can tweak what you want in your sig before you hit submit. I know I have thought I did everything correct, hit submit, then I go check it out and... "OH SNAP! I left out a bracket in my link, now it looks like I don't know what I'm doing!!!"

 

 

 

 

 

I'm pretty sure that other people have had problems like this, and so you can tweak your sig however you want, before submitting for all of Tip.It to see. Also, maybe have a bar above for colors, and or sizes. Just so the new people to this forum will know how to make their lines smaller, or dark blue.

 

 

 

Again, if this was already posted, and maybe locked, I checked the BlackList of what not to post in this forum, but I might have missed something so, if this has already been discussed, then lock or delete.

I think I do remember seeing a thread like this a while back, but I can't be bothered to look for it right now :P Another thing that was brought up that would be nice is displaying peoples' signatures in their profiles.

 

 

 

But yes, I agree with you that this would be very handy. Right now we do have the "Test your signature here" sticky, but a preview option would in fact be nice. Though that is Albosky's department so you'll have to wait for him to stop by and post his thoughts :-w

That thread is really old and it doesn't really have much discussion to it. I agree that we should have a 'Preview' button next the the 'Submit'. It coudl preview both your sig and avvy.

Anyways yes that would be quite a handy feature which im honestly surprised, due to the fact its like that for posts which can require many picture or video or whatever links to be uploaded, that its not there.

In addition to the other methods of 'previewing' that have been posted, you can also PM yourself a copy of the bbcode you want to use in your signature to see how it will appear. Preserves your current signature while you test and you can just delete the PMs to yourself when you're done. :mrgreen:

I can see the benefit of this but I've just learned to work around it. Now if you want to talk about having the sig displayed in the profile, that I can agree with. I'm betting my reasons are the same as tripsis' but it would help me I know.

Agreed, also the forum is made on phpbb forums, so this would be hard to do, not to mention nearly impossible.

 

 

 

The "Test Your Signature" sticky in the gallery is useful for this.

Since I started reading FU&S, there has been 2 topics about this, when I looked through all the topics in this forum a few weeks ago, there is another 2-3(hard to tell) topics about this, and there is really no reason given that this shouldn't be done, since most of those topics seem to have drifted off the page.

 

 

 

The ways you get around this aren't sufficient. PMing yourself the bbcode is creative, but how long does it take, when you could just click a button and your signature appears in a box beside the code?

 

 

 

I don't think this would be hard to do on php thru, it will just take time, its not impossible. Also that sticky is mainly for images, not an entire signature, and it still isn't a solution imo.
