September 10, 200718 yr Good factors: - I have been using proper language with no offensive ones during my time for the past week.. might have to take a bit longer but you know - Haven't retaliated in a negative way and have added people to ignore list instead - Reported macros/gold farmers/advertisement people/item and password scammers Bad factors: - I have .3/10 black marks.. doesn't seem like much but they do add up.. for OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE.. - with that past update *which they removed*: how Jagex said that any player mod will have their other accounts turned into mods and how many mods abused that and made so many in-active accounts which heavily reduces chances of being a mod - Not sure if the reports I've made are good quality.. or not really sure that I reported a lot either.. - I ignore rude people and all and that boosts my chances but.. I don't really reply to anyone either.. and I need to make a POSITIVE IMPACT instead of negative/neutral.. You are not alone, Our Father, God will always be with you.
September 10, 200718 yr last time i read about mods it said any form of blackmark would mess your chances up for a loooong time [spoiler=Stats] Goals Achieved- 99 Firemaking 31/08/07 - 99 Fletching 24/10/07 - 99 Cooking 22/12/08 - 99 Woodcutting 24/01/2010 - 99 Strength 24/05/2010 - 99 Magic 3/06/2010 - 99 Hunter 5/12/2010 - 99 Defence 29/12/2010 - 99 Hp 14/1/2011 - 99 Attack 18/1/2011 - 99 Agility 10/2/2011 - 99 Prayer 9/7/2011 - 99 Crafting 17/7/2011 - 99 Thieving 13/9/2011 - 99 Herblore 1/10/11.
September 10, 200718 yr well the thing is: you have blackmarks and some days of good behaviour will not immediate effect, it takes a long time being a member also helps, because i read mature behaviour on forums increases your chance keep up the good and in some months you might be there! 99 fletch99 Woodcutting

September 10, 200718 yr Just keep playing with an honest and peaceful manner while just silently reporting those you see breaking the rules. Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
September 10, 200718 yr ...- I have been using proper language with no offensive ones during my time for the past week.. might have to take a bit longer My guess is that Jagex considers your play style over a period of, at least, many months. Remember, in a way, you are "representing" Jagex so they want players that won't embarrass them. ...Reported macros/gold farmers/advertisement people/item and password scammers IMHO, this is 1 of 2 things that you need to do. The other thing is to post mature comments on the official forums. ...I have .3/10 black marks That's bad news. It shows that you some trouble with your temper... Probably, not what Jagex is looking for. ...I need to make a POSITIVE IMPACT instead of negative/neutral.. Yes, exactly. Just "not doing" bad things is not enough evidence of your suitability for being a player mod. IMHO, a player mod is a sort of informal policeman in RS. A useful "real world" trick for getting a promotion is to start doing the job "now". So, if you report baddies and show that you are a mature player, then maybe... Hope this helps
September 10, 200718 yr the point of having a black mark is that there are so many people that are willing to be a mod WITHOUT having any blackmarks... my point is, they are not really looking for just some one that posts mature posts or having "good" friends, just a proper language etc would ofcourse help. but i can't see why u would like to be a mod... just give me one good reason, as besides getting more powers then ur friends got, wich u cant use against them :P to bad ehh? u get more responcibility wich will lead to less fun of runescape. ofcourse, if u just continue to help the runescape community and report people who brake rules, then u have a change of being a mod. and, supose that u are a mod, u would do the same only then u are able to mute some one wich will help faster. so unless u really report much people and find it fun to "clean" up the community u would fit for mod. goodluck. ps, if u want to train ur language skills, this forum is excellent for it : duncan222223no spaces, 5-2's. its my tanker, kinda quitted main :P

From what I've read, you really want to become a Moderator. I must admit, a silver crown next to your name looks nice, the ability to mute password scammers and other scum sounds great too, but as a player mod you'll also, like someone else here so beautifully described, be a kind of police officer. Someone who's advice is asked sometimes. Last of all, don't play to be a moderator, play to enjoy this game. Good luck, keep reporting people and help make RS a better place :D.
September 10, 200718 yr Even once the .3 marks go away (they do with time, or so im told), you will proboly have zero chance for the next year or 2 at least. But there are enough people who have never had black marks (like me) to recruit from that your chances are nill anyways. I think the only way to be selected is to have people write things to Jagex saying how helpful you are, or thats the immpression I get off there site in the player moderator section.
September 10, 200718 yr Author umm.. thing is, about being member and mature posts on forums. .I'm a nonmember You are not alone, Our Father, God will always be with you.
September 10, 200718 yr yes, I'm also f2p, i'm a nice guy, got 0 black marks, and I report people who are breaking the rules everytime I can. However I don't get to be one either. I heard that if you give stuff out, you have a better chance (a guy did that for 1 month and he became one), but the main site says that mods don't need to give stuff out. Oh, and sending in a report of you being nice doesn't work. Btw, I also answer questions ingame if needed.
September 10, 200718 yr Well, i don't see how posting on the forums helps at becoming anything but a forum mod, and i know this from experience. I was recently asked to be one (missed the message somehow =(, but not the point) and i have rarely posted on the official forums. I can say, though, that even .1/10 black marks will completely ruin your chances of becoming a mod. There are more than enough people out there with no black marks, and that are also reporting rulebreakers that anything bad will take you out of the picture. Although it may be possible, i wouldn't get your hopes up. Good Luck with becoming one anyways.
September 11, 200718 yr As stated before: play the game for fun, not to become some of JaGEx' lackeys. That's what the game is about. When a soldier goed to war, he goes for his country (or because he was lied to etc etc :P ) but NOT to get home with medals. Soldiers after medals often end up to be dead ones... I'm not threatening you! pMods are supposed to be respected in-game, but many of them become cocky after their crown shows up. I've known my share of them, and most of them I don't talk to any more just because they were so full of themselves.... I guess power corrups. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...

I also seen other mods that are slightly off their rocker; but most of them are just simply a fun talk.
September 11, 200718 yr There is usefull information about How does someone become a Player Moderator in the RS Knowledge Base... Just in case you haven't read it I'll direct you. 1. Go to the main page of Runescape 2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page 3. Click on Find out about player mods, found in the left column 4. Click on How does someone become a Player Moderator? The last paragraph mentions about previous punnishments. Good Luck! -Lt-
September 11, 200718 yr i dont see how being helpful or giving out stuff in game will help your chances...not as though jagex looks though what everyone says at every single point in time and analyzes whether what you said should qualify you to become a mod zzz. besides, one should play the game to satisfy and enjoy yourself. your in game actions should certainly not revolve around pleasing jagex and i hate it when ppl report players for the sake of reporting and getting modship. of course if it is a serious offense like macroing (actually reporting them doesnt even do anything to alleviate the situation looking at the amount of bots that have infested runescape for such a long time) or scamming then by all means go ahead. but sometimes when someone accidentally says something which is censored, and we all know how EFFICIENT and ACCURATE the runescape censoring system is, jagex-worshippers will flock to the report abuse button to portray the image of a goody two shoe to jagex. thats just totally disgusting. not saying that everyone does that though...but im sure quite a handful of ppl do. imo getting modship is just an added reward...if you get it well-done...if you dont? well are u gonna quit runescape? :-w ive played since rsc when santas first came out and havent gotten a single blackmark but no modship and im not bothered at all FYI maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cookinglife may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it
September 11, 200718 yr i know that with power comes resposability but the game rule thing isnt fair ill never become any mod now with 1/10 black marks i got done for account sharing :( evan though i have never account shared for every one that has this hapened to them the appeal system is stupid 99 wc come on :) seems so far 70 construction too close :D
September 11, 200718 yr All I can say is this: -Keep up with your good manner, posting in the official forums is also good way for Jagex to see you and see how mature you are. -Keep reporting those rulebreakers, the better quality of the reports, the better. -Have a secure account like recovery questions and bank PINs. -Low black marks I think will have a *slightly* better chance of becoming a Pmod than lots of black marks, but your still not likely to beome a Pmod. -Refrain from any rulebreaking no matter how small and discreet. With those, it's pretty much a lottery from Jagex for you to get chosen. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
September 11, 200718 yr I really suggest against playing with the goal of a player moderator. Because; Why are they here? To help newer players and ban/mute rule breakers. The first thing can be easily done without being a mod and for the second one you also don't need to be a P-mod. The point of P-mods is not to look cool! Which to me seems exactly what you want, you misunderstand something IMO. The best P-mods are the ones who just do what they think they should do and not the ones striving for it. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
