Super Smash Brothers Brawl Leaderboard

Recommended Posts

Hey there! Yes, I know there is a smash brothers discussion, however, this is not actually related to the game itself.

As anyone who's been following the game updates, SSBB will be released with two types of online play. Anyone, and friends. Anyone battles are unranked and unrecorded, and what's the fun in that?

I'm currently in the process of making a leaderboard/battle forum for it.

General Idea: A forum based battle setup. You set up the rules you want for the battle, number of players, all that stuff. After that, you wait untill someone sees your battle rules and accepts them.

On accept, wii ids are traded so you can add everyone to your friends list and you begin the battle.

After the battle, all users must post the outcome of the battle. If the outcomes match, it's added to the leaderboard. And standard leaderboard workout from there.

What I need is suggestions other than what I have.

Site splash page: http://www.brawl-battles.com

I know, it sucks. If you have any design abilities and would like to help out, let me know, I have none :P

Suggested ideas:

Character specific stats

Ladder rules: 48 hour immunity on win, instant challange possible on loss.

Small update: Forums are installed and working, so if you would like to register.... http://www.brawl-battles.com/forums

Nothing has been updated on it yet, just a clean install.

awesome! can we do monthly/weekly tourneys with this? we can also see the top brawlers!

also we should do wins and losses with the characters for example with you win with samus you score with samus will be 1-0 if you lose with meta knight your score for meta knight will be 0-1

this way we can make i high scores list for each character (i expect to be top with meta knight if i get a wii this christmas  )

Seems like you have some work on your hands. But don't get to excited we still have until december... <.<

I like the idea posted above saying that it should also be ranked by who you win with.

Able to help in any way i can ( although i don't think i will be able to)

There's a lot of depandancies, and we need that time to work out what is possible, how to do it, implement it and get all the bugs out of the system.

And, we also depend on some things being made possible by Nintendo. If they just allowed online play and leave it at that, with no stats tracking or anything - all stats (if you want detailed) will have to be manually entered after every single match. Tedious at best and not something I would do for very long, it also leaves room for exploitation - people only submitting their best matches, etc. And generally padding games (entering game details for matches which never happened).

You missed the point a bit - you know how at the end of melee you have every, damage given, damage taken, smash attacks, grabs, throws, fastest pitch, etc. We went on about having detailed stats which covers some of that, not just the basics like wins, losses, stocks, etc.

I know I wouldn't feel like entering everything in manually after a match.

We do have untill December to get it done, and what's going to be released beforehand will be a very skeleton battle menu that only has options for what we know will be in the game.

I'm thinking about adding a user rating system, like ebays to the site. If a person skips out on giving their battle reports, then they have a lower rating, and people learn to skip them more often.

Nice idea -I'll join! But one slight problem. This has been tried with Mario Kart DS, Pok̮̩̉̉mon Diamon and Pearl... you name it, it's been tried. There's always been a real issue with honesty. How would you get round that? EDIT: Sowwy... me not reading the whole thread properly #-o

And I've got nothing to do right now, and I really don't wanna go through that monster thread on Website U&C for my Crew duties today (it's Friday evening lol!), so I guess I'll GIMP up a background or something to that website. It'll probably be bad, I warn ya. ;)

but why cant each user just say whos won and who's lost instead of posting each individual amount of dmg. smash attacks etc.

if one person says they've won and with mario and the other lost with link then the other guy should get on and confirm it

I was thinking of something along the lines, anyway you ebat me to the punch. But there is always going to be truth problems as someone stated. Its your word agaisnt mine.
Simple solution is the credability rating of players as also previously suggested.

And if you really want to, restrict tournaments to a min credability rating, etc.

This is what dev is all about - getting all the bugs resolved :P

Isn't the some way of viewing results though?

"...There will also be no battle records kept for this mode, so whether you win or lose, it doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t matter. Just sit back and play."

And thats taken from anyone mode, so if you assume, that means you can check records of friends.

Records will be stored with friends it seems, but there is a limited amount of people you can save(64) What's the fun in comparing stats with friends? Wouldn't you rather know your within the top 20 people in the community of 1000+?

Looking in depth at the pictures, the brawl friends adding system may be quicker than a Wii adding system. If you look closely, brawl friends codes are 12 digits. Wii codes are 16 digits. This means you can either register your own, or it's an id included on your game.
