Vulxai
Is guthans useful without the spear? I'd be using it to train and I'd be wearing: guthans helm rune gloves (barrows once I get them) whip guthans plate rune defender guthans chainskirt ROW rune boots (dragon if I manage to get them) Obby cape (99 cape when I get one+) So would guthans be useful without the spear? If I didn't use guthans, I'd use all of the following but replace guthans with: Helm of Neitiznot Rune Plate Rune Legs ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
wioneo
It's not worth the money without the spear, so I think that you'd be better of with torag's plate/legs with a neitiznot helm. I'm still using the rune plate that I bought from oziach in classic, by the way. Vulxai
Ok thanks. I'll work on saving up for full guthans. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
nerdattack16
Great setup for Slayer: Black mask, Guthan's plate and skirt, Abyssal whip/dragon scimitar + rune defender, rest can be mixed. Bring along the helm and spear, so you can switch to full Guthans when you want to heal. Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
DingoAte
Torags armour would be much better than wearing guthans. But like people are saying, you should get full guthans anyway :D
tristan12321
I think that guthans without the spear is fairly useless. With the spear it works well instead of food. But without the spear you would be better using torags and the helm of Neitiznot. ~Al the Camel is my idol~

cat666
In short a Torag/Dharok mix is the best armour (I forget the exact combination). However Guthans can heal you which is a HUGE bonus when training. Verac's is OK for it's prayer bonus but not many monster's are prayed on. As for training I personally keep my Guthans plate and skirt on for all tasks (cept when I need dragon hide, or prayer bonus). Then equip the helm and spear when I need to heal. Otherwise I use black mask and weapon/defender. Some people prefer to use rune/dragon plate and legs to save on Guthans cost. However it costs me roughly 110k every 11 hours to recharge all 4 to 100% (72 smithing in house) and I easily make that on drops. Trust the Gene Genie! chenw
Why do people suggest using Torags over guthans, while the guthan counter parts are actually CHEAPER??? Guthan plate is like 500k max with the EXACT same bonus as torags (which i believe goes around 600k?). The skirt is worse than torag's legs by 10, which is not a lot compared to the stats it already has. Guthan helm might not be worth the 1.9m, because you can get torag's helm for far less, and their bonuses are the same. In short: Guthan Body and Skirt are VERY useful on their own, with or without set. Helm? get torags if you want the defence, or go for Black mask/Helm of Neitiznot 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. transcript80
Since I am cheap/poor, I use my rune plate, slayer mask, dragon skirt and whip/defender on combat training (=slayer). When I need food, I use the set to heal, then switch back. It's a very cheap way of melee training. Of course, this does not go for mage/range assignments. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
