Xeones
Cost per cast? Can you please clearly state whether or not you would like Hitpoints experience? You're going back and forth here. :-k
anonymouse_
1) High Alchemy Boring, and fairly slow (max 60k/hour) 2) Fire Bolt @ Ankou Slow exp (30-35k/hour) ad drops won't cover your costs. There are safespots, so no need for bones to peaches 3) Ice Burst at ----- waste of money 4) Other? personally, I find enchanting at mage arena to be the best way to train mage. It's not the most exciting way, but it's really fast, and if you craft your own cosmics, you'll make a small profit.
Roberthree
Hp is preferred, but If the xp is good enough I'll consider not worrying about it. And over 75% of my money back is a major plus.

Roberthree
Well, duh. But is it expensive? How do I do it?
Xeones
Onyx Enchanting, I believe it was. I don't know the exact experience per hour, but I have heard it reaches upwards of 90k. I can tell you for sure that High Alching is 132gp per cast and you can get 65k experience per hour there.
Roberthree
I thought they cut the xp in the MTA?
Screechingmu
I thought they cut the xp in the MTA? The xp for a cast of onyx enchant in MTA is still cut but its still higher then high alching. High alch is 65 while onyx enchant in MTA is 73xp per cast. It is one of the fastest ways to train mage disregarding the excessivly expensive burst/barrage methods. I highly suggest you buy a load of cosmics and camp out there. You can also do the other arenas of MTA in order to get points to buy infinity items, thus earning your money back. So alching to 87 mage then doing MTA from there is a good choice, basically what I did to 99 mage. Roberthree
So: High Alch to 87 Onyx Enchant to 99 (Get extra points for Mage's Book whenever I max my Enchantment Points so I don't waste anything) And I'll take breaks to Ice Burst/Fire bolt/Whatever when I get bored. Sounds good.

Roberthree
Ice Bursting at Castle Wars is the only way to have fun while maging. It's HILARIOUS. I suck at CW.... I'm always the one who dies.... I was thinking the battlefield or PC for when I get a bursting urge.
etpelletier
You should use ice burst at lvl 142 skeletons at ape atoll. You only need prayer potions and runes. If you use protect from melee, you will receive 0 damage when you have prayer on. In this place, there are spots that you atk more than 9 skeletons at a time. Its good cuz you get maximum xp with ice burst! Roberthree
Why would I want to buy ppots to train magic when I can easily not use them? If I burst/barrage it will be at pc or the battlefield. --- What should I buy at the mta to get the most gp profit? Mages book? infinity Top? Master Wand? Barraging/Bursting will be more of a pass-time if I get bored at MTA. It will not ever be my main source of leveling.

Joes_So_Cool
Well, reading through the first page it's kinda obvious you ruled out all options except for Annokus. It's extremely east to see that you like training there, so go train there.. ~Joe. Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
Roberthree
Yea, we came to Alching, MTA, and Ankou. I still have a question about MTA I'd like answered though.....
Pyrex
A good fast way is to ice burst against zhaar monsters in the cave. It's multicombat, tzhaar drops give a lot if not all or more than that back. You just attack tzhaars around the caves with some weapon (Ranging is ideal, but if you use melee weapon, then it could be a good idea to pray while luring) Then when you got a bunch of monsters near you, burst away until they are all dead. :) And for most profit in MTA I'd say mages book or infinity boots. kingmage
Ok now in my oppinion. Alchemy is good for mindlees brain numbing exp lol. Fire bolts is good for exp and at ankous you will maybe break even. and ice burst is just expensive. anyway good luck. crow
There is one other way I know you can earn cash training mage: make teletabs (With a normal butler, I can make 800 or more an hour; not so great exp, but still pretty fast and you get a slight profit)
