April 7, 200521 yr [start rand] Random events really are the cabbage: You can't even look away of the screen for 1 minute or your lobster pot is gone because a fish ate it, you're at half health because something attacks you, or you're in some theater where you have to do some dumb movements. Why aren't we allowed to look away of the screen for 1 minute to respond to an msn message or read some article or forum post? This is still a game right? Sometimes I'm actually looking at the screen and a random event still ruins something for me because of lag, I reacted too slow, or simply because I couldn't see the event because there were so many people! The risk of some random events is too high. What happens if something attacks you while you were fishing with a santa hat on, and your internet connection dies? What happens if your rune pickaxe head flies off, and your lag out? That's an unfair punishement! I think the random events were there to prevent auto-ing, but I think there should also be ways to do that without pestering honest players. When you attack the random event monsters you don't even get experience like when you attack a normal monster. The kebab and beer of the dwarf are really worthless, and too many random events don't give any reward at all. Many of them are even a time waste. In other words, they should remove the punishements of the random events and instead let them do things that only pretent autoing from working (for example a teleport of only a few tiles away, and the moving fishing spots are OK). And the rewards when you are there should be bigger so that random events are actually something nice instead of something that makes me too scared to wear a santa hat in a safe area or mine with a rune pickaxe (I still do the last thing tho :P). [end rant] Runescape: Lodev (Combat level been fixed at 101 for years now, Total level 1500+, playing since march 2002)Arenascape: Lode (Level 240+ Warlock)
April 7, 200521 yr I agree about these events being annoying, especially while fishing (which I despise, heh), but I have to assume it would be worse if there were none. Jagex does seem to try their best to keep it just hard enough to raise skills. I assume the price of lobsters, sharks, etc., would go down if fishing were too easy. Just my thoughts. lpinkus
April 7, 200521 yr Heh another whine boy about random event. Jagex bring random events for try stop people who use macro like autominer etc. Leave random events alone.
April 7, 200521 yr Random events are cool! The mime, maxe, and Genie are the best... Along with the Zombie and Rock Golem (imo). The zombie can drop dragon bones, the rock golem can drop a rune pick\ore... The others are annoying though, but is it SO hard to wait a second or too when you click on a fishing spot\tree\etc, instead of switching to the forums right after you click?
April 7, 200521 yr Maybe get rid of some random events, but keep others and add new ones. Keep the exploding rock, the zombie, shade, and mysterious old man. Definetly get rid of the Drunken dwarf, rock golem, the fishing ones, and other ones that are more random. The ones that should go are the ones that are caused.
April 8, 200521 yr I lost a white phat to a rock golem while typing up a post about how glad I was that I sold all my items for a phat. Ironic, no?
April 8, 200521 yr the dwarf is the most annoying random event you can be smelting and he'll pop up and annoy the piss out of ya... When i was smelting 14k iron i had some many dwarves they are the only random event that bothers me RSN: drgnslyer15 15 skills 90+ - 10 skills 99 - 200m+ total exp
April 8, 200521 yr It's because jagex wants you to play their game without looking away. It's almost like a sumblininal message. I for one, don't care for them but I don't hate them either. An extra 420 herblore exp sometimes is sweet.
April 8, 200521 yr The only time a random event almost could have made me mad. I was at bronze dragons doing slayer. Had almost killed the one I was on and got a maze (yay my first maze). Unfortunately not having had any practice, I got back just in time to see what the dragon had dropped and for it to appear for the other ppl. Fortunately it was only swordies, had it been d legs, I'd have cried myself to sleep that night. But for the most part I like them. Well maybe not the swarms as they interfere a little too much.
April 11, 200521 yr I lost a white phat to a rock golem while typing up a post about how glad I was that I sold all my items for a phat. Ironic, no? That'll teach you to sell all your items for a phat :) lpinkus
April 12, 200521 yr Random events are not only to prevent macroing, they also try to prevent AFK (away from keyboard) playing which is good. A side effect that people like is that the diversity of the gameplay increases; while doing something for a longer time, randomly something else is introduced for a short time. Now if only they could do some more about server-hopping all would be fine :-)
April 13, 200521 yr Now if only they could do some more about server-hopping all would be fine :-) I think that's what the 15 seconds or so are for. I didn't think server hopping was such a problem, actually. It seems like a waste of time. lpinkus
April 13, 200521 yr Some autoers now have anti-randoms. ARENAscape: Baratus [AS] max hit: 166 with Moon Battle Hammer ixfd64 [AS] max hit: 116 with (untitled spell #2)
April 14, 200521 yr Some autoers now have anti-randoms. And somehow you seem to know that very well :P I like genies for the herblore exp :P i've got 3 lvs in a row from em
December 27, 200619 yr i really like the random events becuase i absolutely hate and dispise people that macro and ruin the game Tip.it Events Team fan!!!Brother of TET Leader Honest1
February 24, 200719 yr macroers suck. Random events help. But whoever started this topic (forgot ur name) is right, some random event punishments or rewards are injust. I think the punishment for all random(except ent and exploding rock) like for teleporting and stuff should be a big cave where you would be able to get out if you talk to some person, just like when you get teleported by the frog. there are a few random events ideas in the link in my sig. This should go in the rant forum, shouldnt it?... Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude? Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you? Camera guy: still laughing Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy Camera guy: runs away still laughing Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]! Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!
February 24, 200719 yr actually, i think these random events are ok just the rewards need to be better. pick axe heads falling off or axes breaking arent soo bad they are cheap and easy to buy (and most skill guides recommend u have atleast 2 or more of the tool) the rewards usually arent worth my time... Duh, Duh Duh, Click Here and Join NOW!!![br]Click here to feed me a Rare Candy![br]
February 24, 200719 yr 1. get better internet, 2. dont look away for longer then 10 seconds (alt + tab) 3. big fishies donsnt eat your lobster pots... agreed... randoms are annoing... lost toooo many stuff by them... ingnored them too many times... got turned in to a frog 2mil times and teled or knocked over by all randoms thousands of times... ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
February 28, 200719 yr On several occasions I have lagged out in battle with shade/river trolls losing a total of 7.3M in coins plus a lot of different items... Do I hate random events for it? Quite the contrary. Each time I died, I lost more coins and items. I owe much of my woodcutting experience as well as mining to those random events. I started doing skills I normally wouldn't have done to make the money back and now my skills (for the most part) are up to respectable levels. Oh and the Drunken Dwarf is a good guy.
