November 5, 200718 yr Author And to those who think that people will sell coal at 100ea well.... do you think new players will know about this place, much less use it? Only experienced players will know about this, therefore there is a possibilty that the prices could be higher. I think everyone's going to use it - it won't take long for newbies to find out about it, considering Varrock is the main area for practically everyone. Being immature is a part of being mature.
November 5, 200718 yr Im pretty sure they said NW varrock. That should be behind the west bank. What newbie would go there?
November 6, 200718 yr Im pretty sure they said NW varrock. That should be behind the west bank. What newbie would go there? Same thing as lv3s start to sell in w1 varrock bank, why do newbie go there now? Merchanting can't be destroyed as long as people has the urge to buy and sell goods that are expensed or in high demand. With that said coal or w/e other raw material there are, the general price can't fall drastically; Even if someone is selling 10k coal @ 100 ea, thats just 1% of the available goods and its a dumb decision overall. November 6, 200718 yr I believe and hope that the economy will not be affected greatly, although I am positive that the prices of commodities will suffer greater plunges. This update completely degrades the old traditional skill of merchanting by making it SO EASY for anyone to pop in and dump so many rubbishy things into the Exchange or for anyone to put down ridiculous prices when selling their stock. I, personally, applaud Jagex's move. Scamming risks will be reduced and I can finally get buyers for my air runes... :D My BlogJoin the Campaign for more F2P Bank Space![bleep], my parrot has better grammar than you.
November 7, 200718 yr Also if prices get too low people won't bother gathering the stuff in very large quantities with the intention of selling it. the result of this will be a lower supply and the same demand- which will bring the prices back up. I Think after the intial lowering of prices things will become rather stable, inflation won't be so bad and the market might make a turn for the better. November 8, 200718 yr I'm very interested in this new Great Exchange. I think it will have some negative effect on merchanting, but it also depends on what items are up for sale. For example, let's look at the ordinary rune scimitar. There are thousands of these circulating through free and member servers. To try and find one to buy with the new Great Exchange shouldn't be too hard considering the amount of these that are sold. The price will stay relatively low because of the huge supply and the not as huge demand. It will be harder to make money with an item like this because there will be so many at a standard price. With this Great Exchange, one will not have to search around their server frantically trying to find someone who's selling at a low price, because they can buy off of anyone on any server. There will be a high enough supply priced at the standard cost. This makes it hard for other sellers who are above the standard price to sell because there will be so many other sellers who have just as easy access to the consumer who will naturally buy for the lower price. Now with rare items, merchanting will most likely be easier. With a low supply and a reasonable demand, as long as there is not any one else selling at a lower price, you can bump the price up a little bit. As long as you have a buyer, you can make a profit. I'm also interested into whether or not you can sell items while you are offline. The article isn't clear on that, but my gut feeling says you can't. :wall: -Runescape Addict --- Seven-time Writer for the Tip.It Times-"Yes I have tricks in my pocket, I have things up my sleeve. November 18, 200718 yr people will find some way to maipulate the Grand Exchange... but then again that's what i thought about the assist system  could i be wrong twice? there's a first time for everything...
November 18, 200718 yr people will find some way to maipulate the Grand Exchange... but then again that's what i thought about the assist system  could i be wrong twice? there's a first time for everything... well if your speculation isn't based on anything, then yes :| 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! November 18, 200718 yr is any speculation based on anything with the GE? the JAGeX announcement didnt exactly delve into its inner workings :? but i see where you're coming from (and for the record could i be wrong twice? there's a first time for everything... was sarcasm :P)

November 26, 200718 yr I think we need to see exactly how this grand exchange works before we get set on how it will kill everything and whatnot but I think for sure it will drop prices, because if it works by putting an item in and set it for a specific amount, and if people decide they want it lower, than they'll find another person selling it for a lower amount and the sellers will have to conform to the buyers prices. that's pretty muc already happens now, but I think it'll happen faster with this grand exchange Agreed. You can't go on ranting about something before it comes out. November 26, 200718 yr Also, I think if you can sell items while offline then millions of people will practically spam the GE with items. Just hope that they have a really good, organized Search Engine  Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price.
November 26, 200718 yr Well... It's not out yet. There are virtually NO details. How can you even debate this? -Roy has spoken-
November 26, 200718 yr Well, now the the GE is out I thin we can say that more then anything else it will be a stabilizing factor in the economy. Prices will no longer fluctuate rapidly and for the most part merchanting is dead. But IMNSHO thats a good thing.
