Is Tip.It Wrongly Rating Quests?

Featured Replies

Of the quests that Tip.It has rated as hard, I have done Dragon Slayer, Heroes, and Lost City. All of them were easily completed at level 60. 55 for Dragon Slayer. Others have said the same. Yet at level 71, there are several medium level quests that are completely out of the question for while. Lost City and Heroes are rated Hard and Troll Stronghold is medium? It just doesn't make sense to me.

agreed... maybe instead of just "easy, medium, hard" put in a recommended combat level? ie dragon slayer: 55+

also the ratings would be decided on what non-combat skills were needed

Actually, just to be sure, you could just try out the quest for yourself and see whether the quest is newb-standard, easy, medium, hard, master, or -bleep- difficult. :-k

Just check the quest guide for any monsters that you will have to fight. You sure don't want to lose that suit of Barrows armour or an Amulet of Fury while attempting to defeat a monster from hell. :?

depends on ur combat lvl...

But I agree, I found that almost all of the "hard" and "master" quests were just LONG(like legends)

perhaps you should try one without a guide...

that tends to make it quite a bit more difficult

That just makes it longer tbh...as you have to figure stuff out urself

I'm 90% sure that Tip It doesn't rate them, Jagex does. Don't quote me though. But i agree some quests marked hard were just extremely long.

That's also a bit risky if you encounter SOMETHING down the way...

I still prefer to check quest guides before attempting anything.

You're right, although Tip.It lumps together 'experienced' and 'master' quests under the same roof. If you don't want to quote Shaz, quote me. =P

what's life without a bit of risk?

these days, you'll know what to expect if you read the front page of the website, and if you're not prepared with at least an exit plan, you need to really rethink your questing methods.

Are any of the quests really challenging? JaGex probably rates the quests on how difficult they are in comparisson to other quests anyway so stuff like Heroes would be harder than other. Also, some of these quests ARE quite difficult to do, WITHOUT a guide so try without one and see if you think it's so easy.

Mournings End Part 2. I found that extremely frustrating even after i turned to a guide for help.

From experience I have found that the quest ratings are just as much rated for difficulty as they are for length. Example: a quest that requires you to wander the world with low levels might be rated harder then a quest where you just go in and kill everybody in sight quickly.

91% percent of the people polled said they were liers. The other 9% lied to us.

The are rated accurately if your a lower level player. Which many people who come to Tip.it for guides are. 'Higher levels' come for the forums.

I actually don't use Tip.It anymore for the Quest Guides. I use one where it has the difficulty and the amount of time it takes. Some guides on Tip.It rate quests hard, when this other guide has 1 star on difficulty and 4 (out of 5) on length.

"The Mystery of Life"

The "difficulty" of a quest is a qualitative variable. That is, instead of being able to label it accurately with a number (quantitative), we have to make a subjective statement about the difficulty of the quest.

As with any subjective measure, it is heavily based on personal experience/thoughts/feelings etc. Just use it as a guide, rather than gospel.

Exit plan? Sometime they block your exit and prevent teleports (Dream Metor, imagine going in THERE knowing nothing *shudder*)
