Its ridiculous. Only found out about it today. I thought from what they said on the news that she has badly insulted their religion, but to think it was only that (if I've gotten the story correct) its just out right ridiculous. I hope everything gets resolved with her still alive.

I'd point out that was the Islamic Council of Sudan though. The UK Islamic Council has been in complete condemnation and embarrassment over this whole affair. Some members have reported being intimidated in the street thanks to this, even though they're as much in deploration of this as we non-Muslims are!

Very true. I know that we have no right to protest with another countries laws, but we do have a right to not want anything to do with them, which is exactly what we need to do.

 

 

 

Has our government actually debated on it's support of Sharia Law, and it's countries under it? I mean, if that happened, I'm sure a vast majority would agree that it is barbaric and immoral. Or are we too scared because we might offend someone who has no right to protest against our own laws, much like we don't have a right to protest against theirs? The point is that nobody should actually protest, but we can make ourselves known by withdrawing support.

People are in the first hand human beings, secondarily citizens of a nation. NATO had little to gain from spending millions to stop mindless murder and slaughtering in the Balkans/Kosovo in the 1990's, but public opinion in western countries demanded something was done about the situation.

I couldn't agree more, the hypocrites that have the balls to call themselves the "council" of anything go to other countries and call christians, jews, etc. barbarians and enjoy free speech, then after a woman (who was making an innocent mistake) allegedly insults THEIR religion by naming a stuffed animal Muhammad, they call for her execution.

 

 

 

I'm actually surprised the moderate people in Sudan didn't voice their outrage over this. It's a very poor nation though, and with the western media being very sensationalist, I don't think they'd even get much space on a newspaper, or airtime on TV to voice their opinions about how ridiculous the whole thing is.

What I find even further sad, is the fact this person is exceptionally compassionate and forgiving. She said she doesn't hold any grudges against the country, and still loves it's people (despite 3,000 of them openly demanding her execution by shooting in the capital city Khartoum last week).
