If I was a lawyer, I would see to personally that the poor get equal opportunities to live like everyone else.

You're going to build millions of homes, pay their bills and buy their food?

I applaud you. =D>

It is sometimes the medication they are on. I used to be on a medication way back in 8th Grade. The medicine wasn't right for me. I'd be angry for no reason. I'd dream violent dreams and want to kill everyone I knew. I don't know why I did it, I simply did it. Then, my mom went to the doctor and told him about it, he got me on a different drug. All the sudden I felt better, I didn't want to hurt the people who mocked me anymore, I didn't get extreme paranoia and I stopped assuming people were out to get me. What I'm trying to say is, it may not have been him at all, the wrong drugs, or the wrong combination of drugs can make you do things you would never normally do. But yea, I used to be depressed, and I hated many people, and my school. But you know what? That didn't give me any right to shoot anyone? And I didn't, I made it through the hard times without harming anyone, if I can do it, why can't that stellar gentleman. Its about willpower, and sometimes the wrong drugs can control you. But, it just goes to show, some people are deeply confused, they have everything mixed up, it is usually the music they listen to, if its violent music, it can give them violent thoughts. (There have been many studies about this.)

I don't see why this is any more significant than the fact that thousands of people die everyday of hunger/poverty. They died silently, and I suggest this news do the same thing.

If I was a lawyer, I would see to personally that the poor get equal opportunities to live like everyone else. I want justice to this discrimination against the poor. =;

Well, there are two types of the poor. The LAZY poor, and the simply unfortunate. The lazy poor, want everything handed to them, the unfortunate simply can't hold a job, they may be sick, or were never able to get an education.

And also, if you need to know one thing, know this, economic equality will NEVER work. If you try to get it where everyone is equal, you will simply destroy any chance of anyone working hard, and busting their butt off to get ahead. Besides, look at 1900s Stalinistic Russia. The goulags (spelling? Not sure how to spell it.) where people died everyday, and since everyone is equal, everyone is poor. So yes, I think opportunites should be given, but not over and over again. If they don't try and work hard to make money, then they want to be poor.

I personally don't like the idea of medication for depression, and too many doctors instantly go to using medication over other forms of treatment. I mean in some cases it does make a difference, but not always. I had a friend who was on depression medication and they always increased her dosage and every time they did that she just kept getting more and more messed up from it. When I was going to a psychologist for my depression, she asked me if I wanted to try anti-depressants I declined them. No way was I going to end up the way my friend had. I felt facing my depression head on was the best method, but all to often people don't do that, they just try to hide it or make it magically go away. Yet it doesn't work like that, it will always be there, people need to learn ways of dealing with it.

Having depression and understanding how depression makes you feel like you're totally worthless and everyone would be better off if you were dead. I just don't understand how people like this think killing someone will do anything? Why cause such senseless pain to others that you don't even know (in this case)?

My solution to this (totally not serious) give everyone guns, so that way the next time some idiot pulls out a gun, someone can shoot them down before they get to do anything stupid.

This guy who killed 8 people and killed himself wrote in his suicide notes:

"Just think tho I'm gonna be (expletive) famous."

Isn't this what he wanted? People to be talking about him and his actions? And , no, he's not famous... he's infamous. If you guys knew any better then we wouldn't have given him any attention in the first place.

[oh man... come on.. i didnt do that bad to your modesty... and i was drunk! you were not! you took advantage of me... wildernessfreelancer!]

Yep, that's what they'll always say, LoL.

So just act like a person killing other persons isn't important? Ok.

Attention-seeking Emo + Gun = Bad.

sig'd^

That kid just messed up, his family or friends (coulda) caused his depression since we don't know the background of it. But, if they doesnt, this guy shoulda though of the good things of life instead of the bad things...you know ...before it was too late... :uhh:

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

I hate when this kind of thing happens. What kind of person thinks "My life stinks, now I'm gonna go kill random people and then myself so they're families' lives stink and everyone who loves me's lives stink" Personally, I think suicides are the second most selfish thing any one can do. This kind of thing is the first.

It is impossible to exaggerate the unimportance of almost everything.

If someone was going to do one of the two, I'd rather it be suicide.

No drug can change a persons moral values. It doesn't matter what drugs you are on, if you understand that killing people is wrong, you won't do it. He obviously felt that everyone besides his friends and family were terrible people, and deserved to go with him. He wrote something like "I've been a piece of [cabbage] my entire life, and i'm going to take as many other pieces of [cabbage] along with me."...

He's just a loser. Go ahead and state that people possibly calling him a loser contributed to this act, but the fact is that he was a loser in society. He took innocent people's lives to make his pitiable life seem significant. What a selfish [bleep]off.

ScorchedRose, your post was awesome.

As to the topic at hand did anyone read about the guy that went on the shooting rampage in Colorado on Sunday? Let's just say someone else also had a gun...

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/09/church.shooting/

The "security staff" was actually just some private volunteers from the Church. The woman that actually shot the guy is good looking heh. I saw an interview with her and you can tell she is shook up from the experience but you can also tell she is grateful she could save a lot of people from being shot.
