Infi
Recently, I've hit a point of my life where things get difficult. Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. It seems as though I'm stuck in this dilemma that I can't get out of. I'm not talking about my life, I'm talking about the pain which no person should never experience. Runescape doesn't judge you, Runescape doesn't look down on you, you're just another player struggling to climb your way to the top. Runescape is my escape. Like sleep, you can escape all the conflicts of life and just play on until you have to return to reality, without worry for hours at a time. Why is the world so hectic, while Runescape is at its greatest simplicity? The pain I am referring to is not of self demeaning attitude, it is of the hardships of relationships. I'm not posting here trying to explain my situation but let's just say it's VERY complicated. I'm not even sure sometimes as the person shows some signs, but talks to me in a completely different way from others. Runescape is my escape from this. I can pay no heed to all of the things around me temporarily, and it boosts my happiness only slightly. When you're happy, Runescape is there. When you're down, Runescape is there. I am in too deep, I don't want to move on, yet staying here pains me unbearably, but leaving also will scar me. Some people are so subtle in reality (a factor which worsens my condition), but in Runescape no one is shy. I'm not substituting Runescape as an artificial happiness for reality but it allows me to escape. It is like the bandage which allows me to move on sometimes, something friends or families cannot understand. Peers at school often bash Runescape, but I feel like I cannot be like who I am today without it. Runescape cannot backstab you, friends and family can. In reality, the only person you can really trust it yourself. Right now it seems like its just myself and Runescape tango'ing for a while. Sorry if it feels like I'm ranting, but I'm trying to get my point across that Runescape is in all simplicity a game, but is actually much more than that to other people. *Exhales* :uhh: 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer
Erichermit
I must say, I understand wholly. I often find that Runescape is a great way to escape from a depression when you're going through one. It's one of the reasons I love this game. I hope you feel better soon man, and good luck. Do you hate Wyverns or Warped Terrorbirds? Think again! fat_klutz
Well I hope you pull through but I also hope you don't get addicted... This is what alot of people who get addicted to drugs sound like, "It helps me escape the pressures of the outside world, man!!" So good luck getting through your troubles but try other things to like playing a sport or something!! RichieMcD
I understand completly. If im feeling crappy IRL i just play RS while talking to my close friends on MS or something. Just make sure you dont get so into RS that it replaces your real life stuff...... that happened to me.... nearly lost my best friend and GF. Realy life can be crappy and if its the people who you call your ''friends'' who are making you feel that way then lose them and get new ones If you ever needed to talk to someone add me
Erichermit
I'm sad. I also like RuneScape.Nice thread. Where's the discussion? The discussion would be for other people who can relate and talk about the pros and cons to finding an escape in runescape. Nice empathy btw. Do you hate Wyverns or Warped Terrorbirds? Think again! hatebringer
I don't understand, wouldn't you rather hang with friends if given the chance then play Runessape? Everyone should answer yes. And even if times are tough, they usually aren't for very long, so just push through, and things will probably get much better. Don't feel down, everyone gets like it at some point or another. 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer

Infi
@ Lacrosse_Fan I honestly find this thread to be actually thought inducing, if you don't feel this thread is up to your standards, your more than welcome not to post, you don't have to bash my thread down into pieces. @Everyone else No, I'm not addicted to this game, it's just a nice change to go into an isolated place where no one knows you, able to escape from reality for just only a little bit. 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer
Kingvictorr
Upbeat fast music cured my depression. \ I believe Runespace is a good way to deal with depression because it allows a person to socialize with other people, and be in a team, even if its in a fantasy world. Now, and i am not a doctor, but i believe Runescape is a good weapon against depression because it basically, it allows you a way to have fun and socialize with many people, cool people who share a common interest with you. Kinda like being in a sports team or in a club. Runescape also allows someone to become someone important too, and it also teaches many life skills and teaches people to aim for a goal. Runescape is a fun, safe way to have fun with a bunch of people, and a good way to pass the time, and if you put effort, a good way to create pen pals and friends. Runescape is a good way to escape reality, but remember that the real world is more important. Balancing Runescape and the real world is the key. =D> Laughter is often the best medicine...so laugh! Erichermit
I get more of t his kind of escape from RPGs in general, not just Runescape. I can allow myself to become the character I am playing for a short while, not the current person I am at the moment (who would at that time be sad. I'm quite happy today though =) ) Like what a few others have said here, it's also important to not let social activities falter from this. I know Ive been tempted tons of times to blow off social encounters to play Runescape, but if I have to, I force myself. And I'm always glad I did afterwards. =) Do you hate Wyverns or Warped Terrorbirds? Think again! Misunderstood Monsters!Want to become a Champion of Champions like I once was? reaper88888
I understand perfectly; for me, theres' nothing like some pking and punk rock to take the edge off of my emotions.. Tbh, if I didn't play RS I'd spend (more) time reading sf, discussing the merits of different political and moral philosophys or sleeping... Runescape really is a great release. Certainly better than pot, killing animals with guns, or bottling up all your bad emotions until one day you finally snap and slaughter a few dozen people... To those 'it's just a game'-ers, look at it this way: Games are basically an interactive, visual form of stories. They bring enjoyment and emotional release, which really isn't a bad thing. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves. I love escaping reality because their are only certain things that you can only accomplish in fantasy, like killing dragons and wearing armor, and dong magic. fat_klutz
Kinda off topic and sadistic but when I'm sad I like to play WC3, pwn some noobs and then curse the hell out of them till they leave whining. That makes me feel better. Probally makes them feel bad but w/e. L2P.
