RROD for the 360

Featured Replies

Unfortunately, two Fridays ago.. our 360 died. We got the infamous Red Ring of Death. Considering how this is our first owned 360 and it lasted about a year and two months.. I thought that was pretty good. Still stunk that it died like that though. We've had it shipped out and everything to get it repaired.

I'm just curious, for the people owning 360s.. how long have you had your 360 before it gave the Red Ring of Death or has it not given one at all?

Never got one, I've owned it for ~7-8 months now.

I got the RROD the first time I ever turned mine on.

Then I turned it off, and back on and it was fine. I think it was just a fluke because it's never done it again and it's fine. Might've been 'cause I didn't put a game in, I dunno'.

Mine was pre owend the last owner bought day of release still no rrod.

Does the warranty still apply if you're not the original owner?

believe so. Because how are Microsoft going to know?

Also the warranty is a sticker inside the console i believe.

My best friend had that happen with his 360 too, it's not anything to worry about I assume. I think its just because of some first-run-power-failures that might happen, if there's something wrong at first with the 360 <-> AC Adapter <-> Outlet. I'd feel bad for all the kids in the world though in 12 days that have excitment pumping through them at 8PM on Christmas Day, they plug their 360 in, and it does that :P

I've had my 360 for... 5 days, no red rings, pretty happy about that :XD:

My friend had his for about 6 months and got it, then it took over 2 months to get it fixed, none of my other friends have gotten it and they've had them for probably an average of about 7-8 months.

Those poor kids.. all excited. And then, it dies.

My brother's friend said his lasted about a year before it got it. About the same of ours. Well, maybe after we get ours back from Microsoft, maybe we won't have that problem again. Hopefully.

Had mine about 3 months and no ring. My friend at school got one about a week ago, only person I know in real life that it has happened to.

i baught my first 360 in may 2006, it broke September that year.

My second 360 (sent back a refurbish console, which was built a year before my first one) broke in July this year

my third 360 i have now is the same console as the second as it was repaired.

IMO its not a matter of if it will happen but when

i bought one off a friend, turned it on once to check it out

turned it on again the next day...RROD!!!

thankfully, my friend was cool enough to send it in for repairs for me and its been working fine for almost a month now

I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

None of my friends have ever had one, but one has had lagging during the game so he sent it in.

...............Microsoft has reserved enough money, (more than one Billion dollars) for this problem to spend $100 on every existing Xbox 360 to fix them, or enough to replace every third Xbox 360 ever made. They also revealed that representatives of the three largest Xbox 360 resellers in the world, (EB Games, Gamestop and Best Buy) claimed that the failure rate of the Xbox 360 is between 30 and 33%, ................

i've had the ring once, i knew what it was right when i saw it. i turned off the machine and back on and it worked fine

Can I just check if ALL Xbox 360s come with the free three year warranty. If I am wrong, what do they come with and what faults does it cover?

it comes with a general 1 year warrenty, that covers everything.

it also has a 3 year warrenty which covers the rrod, nothing else.

  • 3 weeks later...

When I fired up my 360 for the first time I got the rrod, so I turned it off and back on and still rrod. I had to start it up 5 times but after it returned to normal.
