Is JaGeX Stubborn?

Featured Replies

It seems like anyone who tries to suggest some alternate means to many of JaGeX's recent updates on their official forums is given a swift boot, as they will not hear ANY suggestions at all that involve alternatives based on the old state of things. For instance, any suggestions regarding the old wilderness are already taboo on the suggestions board. Yet, I have come up with and seen a number of other ideas that I believe, implemented properly, could work to bring it back while simultaneously hobbling Real World Traders.

I can understand why Jagex doesn't want their forums flooded with "omg plz birng wlid bck", but why are they entirely unwilling to listen to more reasonable solutions and so adamantly against returning the old Wilderness, which has for YEARS been a loved staple of their game? Why would they be against bringing it back in a way that players could love but RWTs and goldfarmers couldn't make great use of? Are they stubborn? Do they believe that they can think of something that the players themselves would prefer to the old Wilderness through minigames (already a flawed approach)? Or are they right, and we're just being too hasty in judging them?

Jagex has already made many statements regarding past updates and the game, which have been logged by numberous players and will be held against them throughout players' entire gaming career.

I think Jagex is wanting to make the game better, but just has a fine line drawing at what they are accepting ideas to change.

Well they can't bring back the old wildy because of RWTs and all people are suggesting is that we rollback everything and put things the way they used to be. Instead of doing this Jagex wants people to suggest ideas to stop RWT and still make pking an option.

That's precisely what I'm saying, though. We CAN bring back a reasonable facsimile of the old wilderness without it being a convenient way for goldfarmers to trade assets.

It may be partly that the revamping of the Wilderness took so much time and effort, that the thought of it all being torn apart makes them a bit sick. Jagex are only human, after all. Note that I'm really rather neutral in this matter, and this is just a possibility. ::'

See, that's fine. I wouldn't mind that if they would just come out and SAY it.

I think it's inaccurate to say they aren't willing to listen to alternative ideas. I do, however, think they've made it clear that they are not going to consider rolling back to the way it was.

I'm sure, if your idea is effective at eliminating RWT and possible to be implemented, it will get consideration. I think the attempt to recreate the wilderness (arguably failed) and the call for constructive solutions is evidence of that.

Can you imagine jagex saying 'Well the update of the wilderness was a mistake, but because we have put so much time and effort into creating these new updates, they are staying no matter what'.

Most people who play runescape are not mature enough to accept a statement/answer like that. Not saying you aren't :)

If discussion was aloud, little actual discussion would take place. More of a "Give us the wild back you morons!" kind of thing. Or people making stupid suggestions "Just ban the RWT's!" even though thats a fairly obvious solution but still very hard because new traders take their place.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

They ARE listening to solutions, every one of those in the latest news post was suggested on the forums + i read it.

The reason they ignore most of them, it because most of them completely miss the point of the update in the first place, or are never going to work.

I do believe that they listen to suggestions. If you read the recent newspost about the updates they're going to make about 'the update', nearly every decent suggestion that i've seen on here and RSOF has been considered.

While i really disagree with the way they implemented this update, the way it was just dumped on us without any warning or reassurance from Jagex, i can see that they're listening to the players now in making it better. Just remember that compromise has to work both ways and they wont just adjust the update exactly to peoples suggestions.

Why not make the ditch/ardougne lever/mage bank lever like bounty door? You cant bring money and non-combat items (some exceptions like spade, clue scroll stuff etc.) It's basically the same idea but we keep old wilderness...

Given the amount of upheaval the game's gone through already, Jagex should be careful about doing anything that's a radical departure from what they've installed already. RuneScape looks set to survive for a good long time as new people come in to replace the ones who've just quit, but it'd stir up more and more resentment over and over again if Jagex kept on changing huge aspects of the game in controversial ways.

If they're going to wipe RWT properly, they're not going to be replacing the Wilderness as we knew it, except in some crippled form that's not much better than BH. Whereas they might be able to make BH better, in time.

Because then RWTers buy expensive weapons/armour, bring them to the wilderness, and lose them for real-world cash. Then the "buyer" goes and does whatever he/she wants with the 20M item.

Not if they have a cant take it in if you cant equip it policy and wilderness limited to 2 worlds.

Have you noticed how many ideas which have been suggested here/on TruthScape have ended up going into the game recently? (The new GE sets, LootShare function which sells the loot on the GE and splits the money...) Maybe you should just post your ideas here, it may have a higher chance of grabbing Jagex's attention.

The reason why it's Tabooed is because there would be too much fire and brimstone being flung around the rants and suggestions forum for Jagex to be able to extract any decent ideas.
