Rank Contest

Featured Replies

No. But that reminds me. Can a mod organize another TIF rank contest please? In the not to distant future...?

edit: What on Earth? Ok I'm confused and scared! I never created this topic lol. This was posted in a reply on another topic. Did a mod create a whole separate topic under my name or something. I'm kinda spooked out at the moment to be honest. lol. :anxious:

edit 2: Realised from Tripsis reply below that she did it. No problem in that, it just took me by surprise.

I'll see if I can get a new rank contest up and running :D

Sweet. 8-) And please don't make it Runescape related.

Most of the best captions have nothing to do with RS. :?

Strange question perhaps, but why? Tip.It is a RuneScape fansite after all...

Hey, there's a good deal of us who don't play runescape, but would want to participate in the contest.

I doubt we'd make something that's purely RuneScape-related. We're currently brainstorming ideas and hopefully we'll think up something soon~!

By the way, I'm splitting off all the rank-contest related posts into a new thread for the sake of organization.

Yerse, a lot of the people who want a rank contest, or know what it is for that matter, no longer play or never played Runescape, so yeah.

I am so winning this contest 8-) .

Hopefully this can become a monthly/bi-monthly event.

It might be a good idea, as to give the OT community a bit of a chance at something special. But I can definitely understand if you guys make it RS related, so don't worry that much staff.

And I'm all for another contest. FTW. :D

Not all the Tipit community is OT. I still think it should have a little bit to do with Runescape if we do have another one.

How about a general knowledge one so all people will be able to enter?

We can't assume that all the Runescape users know nothing except about Runescape and I think most of the OT users do have some knowledge of Runescape (most, if not all played it in the past).

Although almost everyone here, including the OT'ers have played Runescape, lots of people don't play it at the moment, nor would they know about recent updates.

It's OK to have RS-related in a general way, as mrmyk said, but not having the custom rank as a reward from a TET-like-event.

I think I might have a suggestion regarding the split of this.

We could host multiple contests at once, but each person could only enter one contest at a time. We could have one that is Runescape-related, one that is Off-Topic based, and there could also be another one that caters to those with more creative skills, such as the Art/Gallery groups. This way, people can enter whichever category they feel they have the best chance to win in, and there is no discrimination against people based on intellect or skills.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

^ I really like what he said, although the gallery contest might not get many hits. I don't know what it is about that place, but contests like the picture of the month barely get any attention anymore. Step it up, people! :(

I'm sure everyone here has a knoledge of what runescape is, even if they don't play, just by browsing the forum.

I guess I couldn't get my point across. What I meant was that because some people don't play anymore (I really doubt that someone hasn't played) the contest shouldn't be directly related to RS in-game, like a "find me" event, or the like, while it could be related in a general way.

In fact, it depends a lot on what you define as "RS-related". I can't really express any opinion on a general concept.

What ever happened to OTET?

Yays for reminding me about ideas I almost forgot about!!! We have some stuff compiled, but nothing really has gone on from there.

Anyways, I think the contest should come down to something everyone has a fair chance at, nothing directed at like one single talent.

The staff probably already has ideas regarding what the topic of the rank contest will be.. but I thought I'd throw my two cents in anyways.

Rank contests in the past have had things to do with RuneScape but everyone could still participate. Caption contests and haikus are just two that I can think of right now. I have to say I think there should only be one contest going on at a time. The idea is for it to be a community-event, not to split the users down the middle. If there is such a strong desire for a RuneScape-based contest, one can be made in which everyone has a chance to participate like I mentioned. Then, the next month, just have one that isn't RuneScape themed.

Either way, rank contests aren't tests or quizzes with a required amount of RuneScape play-time. Unless we're talking trivia questions, I cannot think of a situation in which a RuneScape-based contest would require people to have played RuneScape for longer than a couple hours. I don't think that's the problem OT-users are talking about - I think some people would prefer the theme be something else, perhaps something related to current events or politics.

I wouldn't say no to a WoW-based one.

That's Off Topic Events Team your referring to right? In that case it kind of died when Bubsa got a temporary ban like a year or so ago and it kind of killed the idea, since he was a major factor in that running (iirc). And I'm sure there would of been other factors contributing to it dieing as well (lack of interest, time etc.)

Anyway the members of OT should get together and start it up again. Do things like have a party poker competition or other online games events (I think online chess competition was one as well iirc) etc. etc. I might post a thread about it in OT in the next couple of days, and see what people's reactions may be to it starting up again.

That's exactly what I was referring to, The_Sith. Neither did the Caption Contest nor the Haiku's have direct connection with RS, and thus they were great ideas. My point was that the Contest should not require the contestants to log into RS for some kind of game -(e.g. a 'find me' event). I'd find those unfair for retired people, even if I still play RS.

A poker competition sounds like fun, eels. I still remember having missed the cs:s tourney because steam started acting all weird...I'd love to have more competitions and stuff like that.

Aaron, Is that super secret stuff, or can we have in on it?
