You could probably do something similar with Mew with a lot less weaknesses.

If you need power you could go with Darkrai, if it's still unbanned.

If you want to keep Celebi's role, Erufuun could probably do it far better with Mischevious Heart. You'd lose Natural Cure though if you're using Celebi as a status sponge. With Erufuun I'd run Switcharoo/Leech Seed/Sub/Toxic, with the last moveslot being up to you.

I've seen a really good tank Erufuun used before with Cotton Spore, but that's a little gimmicky.

I see, can erufuun sponge special hits and learn stun spore/twave? cause paralisis helps me a lot more than toxic, so landlos can set up an sd instead of rock polish. (im writing this on a cell phone, sorry for the format)

Yeah it gets Stun Spore, but you might need to give it the Scope Lens if you're worried about the shaky accuracy, but then it just kills the purpose of switcharoo. Although it does get Taunt as well, so it might not be TOO big a deal.

God erufuun was a disaster for me, i droped to 4k ranks and such.

Bt i think i found a new partner, replaced celebi for a jirachi with twave, trick, wish and iron head (i'm kind weary of this one, any replacement suggestion?). It is kinda working, and it doesn't rely much on flinch. Plus, he's a good wish passer.

Replaced Ono with the Gen IV lead Machamp that I know and love. Working great.

Also been using Dancing Tank Gliscor (Toxic Orb + Poison Heal with EQ/Taunt/Sword Dance/Protect) and it is simply fantastic. It checks stuff all over like Roopushin and Breloom (although I kinda like bouncing back spores with espeon instead), both of which wreck Tyranitar and Doryuuzu, as it happens. Gliscor is a great partner for both on a sand team. Biggest problem I have right now are water attacks, since they absolutely wreck my entire team, except maybe Garchomp.

Does anyone know when Nintendo/Pokemon Online is going to add V-Generate as a legal move? I'm kinda hoping it happens soon, since Victini needs that move to be useful (although Kaendan is cool too).

For those who don't know, V-Generate is Victini's other signature move (Kaendan is the other). It is a 180-base power physical fire attack that lowers the user's defenses and speed by 1 stage when it is used. But that's it. No recharge or power drop of any kind, and it's coming with STAB and base 100 attack. It also has near-perfect accuracy (95%). It's something I would honestly love on my team.

V-Generate will probably be released along with the next movie, since the event victini didn't get it.

V-Generate will sigle handedly elevate Sun Teams to an whole new level. Lets make the calcs. 180 base power, which gets stab, which turns into 270 base power. That alone makes it the strongest move in the game apart from stab selfdestruct/explosion. Now, sun also multiplies this by 1.5, which turns it to, lets see, 270+135=405 base power. Add a choice band and use adamant nature and you have, quite simply, the strongest move in the game.

Boy, victine will bea beast (plus, his ability makes sure the move won't fail).

Also, lets organize a 5th gen tournment, it's about time.

Yeah, because of that, I now have a good reason to run Heatran/Kingdra.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Yeah Heatran is going to become more or less a staple.

Heatran's already a good poke, great typing and coverage, and can set up rocks. Plus, he has good stats to top it all.

Oh, Magma storm is awesome on heatran, specially if you also have a pursuiter/wanna trap someone. I can't believe how many people use FB over it, yet it's only slightly more accurate. I can be just lucky though.

I give up. This metagame is [bleep]ing broken.

I can't get anything going anymore. There is no team that works well now. What the hell happened to make this so...

I think people realised this metagame is more about team synergy rather than checks, hence once you start messing with your team to find your perfect defensive core and the attacking combo that you like best, you start noticing that most threats arent that broken and are easily countered by your regular pokes and some prediction.

Whats your team and pokes that give you most trouble?

The only thing I found that murders is Rankurusu, so maybe a teambuild around it wouldn't be a bad idea?

If thats your play style, then stick to it. Before i settled down with my team i tried a miriad of other techniques and failed miserably with almost all of them.

Although i might suggest having at least 2 usable sweepers in yourt eam. I personally use Starmie and Landlos, but i guess Ranku can use both with psycho shock and Psychic.

Well, the tried-and-true set I run around with (and popularized) is this:

Rankurusu @Life Orb

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA

Ability: Magic Guard

Nature: Bold

~ Calm Mind

~ Recover

~ Psycho Shock

~ Hidden Power [Fighting]/Focus Blast

I just can't find a good offensive core... From what I'm aware, Tyranitar, Scizor, Landlos, Garchomp, and to an extent Doryuuzu threaten this. We need something that can deal with them... Starmie could check them except for Scizor, no? Problem being, Scizor just constantly spams U-turn, so it can't be countered.

Try a zuruzukin, they are also quite bulky, and have three amazing abilities (Moxie, Intimidate and Shed Skin). Plus, access to two other amazing set up moves (Bulk Up and Dragon Dance). Not only that, but it gets two increadible stabs, Dark and Fighting.

If you are willing to try a sandstorm team, doryuzzu is obviously strong after a sd (and very fast), but landlos takes the cake. While not 400 speed fast, he ahs the trolliest speed of 101, and sand power, which gives earthquake on sandstorm and LO boost a increadible base power (OHKOs 0/252 nattorei and 252/252 if it has spikes).

Yeah, I've built my team around the concept of insane bulk, and it's working rather well. Now the only things that are really frustrating to face are what, Balloon Doryuuzu and some rain teams?

And Starmie is amazing:

Starmie @Expert Belt

EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spd / 4 Def (for more swaps into SR)

Nature: Timid

Ability: Natural Cure

~ Hydro Pump / Surf

~ Ice Beam

~ Thunderbolt

~ Hidden Power [Fire]

Seriously, the amount of people who get greedy and swap in Scizor and Nattorei is astounding, so I punish them with a quick HP Fire. Wish support is good, so complement it with the best answer to dragons there is:

Jirachi @Leftovers

EVs: 252 HP / 216 SpDef / 36 Spd

Nature: Careful

Ability: Serene Grace

~ Wish

~ Body Slam

~ Iron Head

~ U-turn / Fire Punch / Stealth Rock

Once again, so many people get greedy with Nattorei and Scizor, so Fire Punch punishes both. Seriously, the bulk this thing has is insane. Fun fact: LO Sazandora's Fire Blast fails to 2HKO it. The picture is even better looking at Draco Meteor. Specs Latios does something like 35%. Free Wish.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I take from that that you're doing well, have you tried zuruzukin yet? Or have you found another guy for your team?

Zuruzukin is "Eh" for me. He's not bad, but he's the weakest link in my team, in that he really doesn't do much. Sure being able to eat Gengar for breakfast is awesome, but he just doesn't do enough for the team. Shed Skin doesn't quite work well either, so maybe I could play around with an Intimidate variant which can safely deal with Doryuuzu? Failing that, there's always Machamp/Roobushin/Hariyama.

Don't forget Gliscor/Landlos, both of which also check Dory's counters if you happen to have a dory of your own. Balloon dorys are a problem for Gliscor that only run earthquake, though.

Main problem with this is that I already run Landlos and don't want another ice weakness. I might start using a more physically bulky Hariyama or something, who knows. Knock Off is an awesome move after all.

Wouldn't you be better of with a Machamp in that case? I mean, loosing knock off is kind of bad, but machamp mroe then makes up for it. Machamp, along with other like Starmie, Garchomp (which i can't wait to be banned), Lati brothers (same boat as chomp) and skarmory haven't aged a bit, and still do their job without much interruption.

Machamp is a very good option, but it took a major beating in Gen V.

In Gen IV, Machamp was amazing. It had pretty good defenses, but the main thing it had going for it (as opposed to perhaps something like Swampert) was that it had, for all intents and purposes, no weaknesses. No one used Psychic or Flying type moves in Gen IV. Yes you'd have the occasional sweeping azelf or skarmory that would threaten Machamp, but azelf you can switch out of since psychic sucks for attacking anyway and most bulky machamp and deal with Skarmory. In Gen V, though, psychic attacks are far more common with new, GOOD psychic types being introduced, the ability to use Psycho Shock so Blissey doesn't wall the crap out of you (PS Starmie actually 2hkos Blissey, as it happens), all Deoxys and Lati pokes being unbanned, and Magic Mirror Espeon making it one of the more popular pokemon out there since it basically counters stall singlehandedly with good prediction.

Offensively, it still has STAB No Guard Dynamicpunch, and it isn't any weaker than before, but now there's that ground/ghost thing that gets it as well, although yes without the STAB, but still...it seems to me that in this gen ground/ghost is better typing than pure fighting, especially when you consider the ghost had better defenses iirc. 130 base attack is also nothing to laugh at, but when base 140 Roobushin and its priority mach punch, Machamp doesn't seem to great anymore.

Imo, Machamp has little purpose outside of the lead role. It's offensively outclassed by Roobushin and it's defensively outclassed by that ground/ghost thing I can't remember the name of. It can pull off a very good offensive/defensive mix with high attack +Dpunch along with good defenses, but it just doesn't good enough to really make up for its shortcomings.
