Demoli Posted January 5, 2011 Share Posted January 5, 2011 You've got a point there, psychic types really saw a resurgeance, and i ain't liking it. I have no ghost or dark poke's in my team (even though i have 4 resists in teh form of nattorei, jirachi, heatran and starmie) and sometimes theya re a pain to get rid of. Specially shinpora and her psycho shift or whatnot. And aparently, Drizzle and manaphy are undergoing suspect testings. Manaphy will undoubtly be banned and i hope drizzle too. Rain teams are a pain to defeat, and while those who just use polidrizzle+5 ramdom sweepers are maneagable, others that put more thought into their team are, frankly, impossible to defeat. I've once seen a team of Toad+DDDra+Ludi+Toxicroak, Nattorei and Latios and was a massacre. When i finally was able to take down that friggin Toad i was only left with hippowdon, Landlos and Rachi. Hippowdon fell shortly after (i needed to eliminate the weather), only to realise his ludi had rain dance one turn after it went down. And i don't get why people put Sand on the Same boat as Rain. Sand has 2 decent abusers, Dory and Landlos, while rain has practicly half or more the water type pantheon. Dory is killed by priority and a lot of common pokes, Landlos is easily taken down by any super effective move and is neutral to rocks. Sandstorm teams always share weakneses to water and ice, both very common types with reliable moves and users. Rain teams have, literally, no weaknesses. Kingdra has a single weakness to dragon type which can be solved not only by nattorei but by himself, since he can dish powerfull outrages. Ludicolo has 2 weaknesses, flying and bug, both very rare offensive typings apart from u-turn and acrobat. I can't wait for rain to be banned, ir eally can't. Dizzle229 Posted January 16, 2011 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Just now, a thought occurred to me. I have been gaming since I first played Super Mario Brothers in 1997. I have played everything. FPS's, RTS's. Grand Strategy's, racing games, sims, retro games, you name it and I've played it. Through all this time, the ONLY Pokemon game I've ever played was Pokemon Pinball on the Gameboy Color, and I don't think that really counts. I want to see what the hype is about, so I want to try one. A more recent one, preferably, since I believe there's more Pokemon and because I have read far too many creepypasta's to play the old ones. My only knowledge of the Pokemon universe is that I watched the TV show from about 1999 to 2001. I don't have a handheld by Nintendo besides the Color, and I have no idea how to get games for that, so are there any Pokemon games available on PC? A hack of some sort? I hope that after rain is gone, latios is gone too. I've personally been using Latios a lot and I have to agree that Latios holds a lot of power. However, any decent special wall honestly has no problem taking down Latios, and stuff like the Erufuun/Heatran combo can also bring it down (priority Stun Spore -> Dragon Pulse, etc.) Dory massacres it as it can OHKO with X-Scissor even without a SD, I believe. Ttar can OHKO and Specs Surf cannot OHKO Ttar. Latios is also less bulky than Latias is, and those U-turning Genies can really wear it down. Not to mention all those Pursuit users have no problem with a choice-locked Latios. Shandera has its way with Latios as well if it is scarfed. ~It's Super Effective! Demoli Posted January 16, 2011 Share Posted January 16, 2011 I'm actually going to try Latios now, so i can attest it's prwess from the other end of the stick, But just one thing. Why would you use surf against Tyranitar? I mean, yeah I'd use Surf for stuff like Heatran and the like, but Draco Meteor has Higher Damage since it will be 140+STAB, while surf will only be 95+SE. My set is Latios@Specs, Timid, Trick, Psycho Shock, Draco Meteor and Thunderbolt. I really wsant to replace Tbolt though. Is Ice beam a better solution? Or is surf the better guy? The idea is in the beginning of the match, you want to just spam Draco Meteors so you can nail whatever switches in. Once you have your opponent's team scouted, though, it's better to use Dragon Pulse/Coverage Move so you can function as a late-game sweeper. That's why my favorite set is personally Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse/Thunderbolt/Surf. However I needed to deal with walls so I used Trick > Draco Meteor. ~It's Super Effective!
