The point system will be 1 point for a loss and 2 points for a win. We won't have any tie's so we don't need to worry about that. Here will be the rules (they are the same as last time):

OHKO Clause (No one-hit knockout moves)

Sleep Clause (No more than one pokemon asleep at one time)

Freeze Clause (No more than one pokemon frozen at one time)

Evasion Clause (No moves that boost evasion can be used. Moves that drop accuracy are allowed though)

Selfdestruct Clause (If you and the opponent only have one pokemon each remaining, you may not use self destruct, explosion, destiny bond, or perish song to end the game. If you do, then you automatically lose)

Species Clause (You may not have more than 1 of any pokemon)

Strict Damage Clause (Prevents information about your team from being leaked to other participants)

Never really got into Competitive battling in this so don't know, but some of those rules seem silly to me.

What's wrong with boosting evasion? Seems like a valid tactic to me, as well as putting multiple Pokémon to sleep etc.

Also you said no ties, but what about things such as Take Down which do recoil damage? Surely those sort of moves mean it can end in a draw.

As I've said, never done competitive battling or really looked at it at all so I'm sure there's perfectly good reasons for the above, would be nice if someone could explain them though.

Thanks.

The evasion clause is in effect because if you have 2 pokemon that boost evasion to its maximum, you can have a huge stall war. It helps the matches move a lot faster.

I'm not sure on the exact reason for sleep clause, but it is standard for any competitive play. From what I gather, pokemon like Crobat could put a whole team to sleep if someone gets lucky on the accuracy. Having only 1 pokemon asleep helps even the playing, and not turning the game into a who can put the most pokemon asleep first contest.

I'm not sure about the recoil damage. I had never considered that.

Also, here is the banned pokemon list:

Mewtwo

Mew

Wobbuffet

Lugia

Ho-Oh

Latios

Latias

Kyogre

Groudon

Rayquaza

Deoxys (all forms)

Dialga

Palkia

Giratina

Manaphy

Darkrai

Arceus

Shaymin-S

Garchomp

Wynaut

The rules and banned pokemon list are on the first post, so you can check that if you forget.

Evasion, critical hit chance, and a few other things often are solely based on chance, so many people dislike it. Nothing sucks more than having a +6 atk/def pokemon ready to sweep only to have it completely killed by a lucky critical hit.

Wobbofett's shadow tag ability doesn't allow the opposing pokemon to switch out. After using encore, the wobbefett player will know what kind of attack the opposing pokemon will use, and then deal back double damage accordingly with counter or mirror coat. And once wobbefett is on the verge of death, it can just use destiny bond to take a pokemon with it. I think wobbefett can be stopped with a status condition or a ghost/dark type (to prevent counter/mirror coat damage), but I'm not entirely sure how effective that might be.

Recoil moves always favor the user.

So if I had 10% HP left and you had 100% HP left, and my Infernape's Flare Blitz KO'd you, I would win. The recoil is not taken into account, since technically your Pokemon faints before mine (you take damage, faint, THEN I take damage). Life Orb works in the same way. If I had 5% left and you had 5% left, and I used an attack that was boosted by Life Orb, I would win.

Wobbuffet is uber for a good reason.

Although it should be noted that NOT all legendaries are uber. Many are balanced, for example Celebi, Jirachi, Azelf, Uxie, Mespirit, all 4 Regi-golems, all 3 Legendary Birds and all 3 Legendary Beasts, as well as Heatran, Shaymin (normal form), and a few others. Uber status is determined based on usage and impact on the OU metagame, not in-game status, thus you find Pokemon such as Garchomp and Wobbuffet and (formerly) Manaphy in Ubers.

Darkdude, with Wobbuffets shadow tag ability, if two Wobboffets faced each other, it would be the biggest stall war ever, with the Wobbuffets eventually resorting to struggling. This along with the above mentioned reasons is why it is banned. Wynaut is banned for the stall reason.

The only thing that can avoid a Wobbuffet's shadow tag ability is a pokemon with Mold Breaker, but those are few and far between. (atleast, I think they can avoid it).

Garchomp is hugely overpowered and is thus banned.

I remember doing an Explosion attack on one of the many Pokemon games (Can't remember if it was Stadium or Blue...) and I ended up losing even though we were both on our last pokemon and we both lost all of our HP because all effects happen before the end of the battle. (Like the attack boost from Metal Claw)

Anyone think a Gyarados with 252 att, 128 def and 128 spd with Lax nature is a bad idea? I know it's a bit weird, but I just want to see how awesome I can make my red Gyarados :3

edit: Horn drill and Fissure would be one-hit KO moves.

Shed Shell, I think, is the only condition you can avoid Shadow Tag.

Arena Trap is a similar ability, but if the Pokemon is immune to ground attacks, it is unaffected by Arena Trap (unless Gravity is in play), which is why Dugtrio and Trapinch along with their bad stats) aren't banned.

I meant on shoddy, these are custom rules.

I don't want to sound stupid but, what would define a one hit ko move?(the OHKO clause)

Fissue, Horn Drill, Sheer Cold.

Yes, basically those moves that faint the other pokemon in 1 hit, regardless of any actual combat factors.

To be more precise, it inflicts 100% of the opponent's HP.

Which is why it would only break a substitute, for example.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I finally got Heart Gold, got Totodile as my starter and my party at the moment is Totodile, Pidgeotto and Bellsprout. Catching Growlithe ASAP also. Using Sentret as an HM Slave.

KCD, can you also put my Friend Code up on the first page please? FC: 2021 2038 9934

And does anyone have a Cyndaquil or Chikorita below level 10 that they don't want?

How early are you able to trade? Violet city? If so, I'll trade the starters if you do the same for me

Done.

Where is TM73 (thunderwave) located? I checked the lighthouse and I didn't find it. I remember hearing that the game room has it for a prize. Would that be the Kanto gameroom?

Oh wait, it might be in the Battle Frontier for 32BPs. I'll have to go check when I get on.

This is it. Could have sworn it was earlier though. Was from Serebii, but they also said that the TM for Charge Beam was in Olivine, so it might not be accurate anyway.

You think an ingame team would have any chance of getting 32 BP? I don't really want to waste my time if I'm just going to get destroyed.
