Personally I hate how the characters are broken up into tiers... I think it's kinda unfair towards other characters if they have a big weakness that some people can just pulverize... I really like Yoshi, he's a megapowerhouse, but the fact that if you screw up his second jump, he's pretty much screwed...Wish they would fix that -.-

Well.. It happens with any competitive game, and it depends on what level of play you're looking at. Every character has strengths and weaknesses, and certain techniques only they can do. Obvious weaknesses like Ness/Lucas having to use PKThunder as their recovery are easy to notice. Weaknesses like the infinite grab against Ness and Lucas with Marth are found out as the game is played. Low level players wouldn't be aware of things like hitboxes, priorities, and advanced techniques, so tiers don't matter. High level players know all about these things and how to exploit them, which is why tiers make the most sense at this level.

Yoshi had SAF on his second jump... he still has some in brawl, but not as much as you could want... He could do a rising nair now though, because his second jump used to cancel which would result in airs faster than you could with shffls. Yoshi gained and lost alot...

Don't john about tiers. If you win, "OMFG I beat you with the weakest character in the game!!! You suck!!" If you lose, "It doesn't matter, Captain falcon is the weakest character in the game anyways."

If you want to lose a low tier, that's fine, but don't make excuses. Except if your opponent is MK, he has no weaknesses. :XD: Snake, Falco, GaW, DDD all has bad matchups across the tiers. Tier lists are all about matchups now anyways.

Since most of you still play RuneScape, it's like the combat triangle? [Excluding MK], all characters have their weaknesses, no character is good against everyone else. In my opinion, Falco > Snake, but Dedede > Falco, and Snake > Dedede.

I use two pretty high up characters and two of the lowest. I can't complain.

No, but you can think of it as a spider web...

Or do what everybody else does, and think of it as a chart with a bunch of numbers saying the odds of winning.

This has really cleared things up for me about the tiers...if possible, could someone post a chart of it at all? I would really like to see that

Tier list.

Matchup chart.

wow, caxis thank yoU! ::' This has helped me now, can't wait to show my friends this. It might make the competition where I'm at a bit harder now....and I might now have to choose a main, since I'm only good with random! :P

Kent, you weren't kidding about MK and no weaknesses, and Marth is right there with him... wow

Marth is known for having almost no bad matchups, along with Lucario.

There are much more important threads on Smashboards than those 2, I suggest you read them.

Edit: As I've said before, Snake has bad matchups for most characters! This means if prop over 9000 goes through (ban metaknight) Snake has a good chance of falling below GaW. Snake has a half decent matchup with Mk compared to other chars... if he's gone, he loses his dominance.

Snake isn't cheap, by the way.

if anyone wants one, I can make you an avatar with your two mains in it. Like mine, and whenver he puts it up, Gallade's. Just pm who you want to be in it and I'll try to have it finished soon.

Does anyone here have any skill with Falcon?

If ya do post. I wanna see if I can compare myself.

Imo, with everyone I fail, except falcon.

Rofl, I find that so ironic and [developmentally delayed]edly hilarious...

But I guess I'm ok with Falcon... we'll play sometimes.

I find it very ironic too kent.

I got used to his speed, dropping speed and in-air attack speed. And especially his dash.

Hope I do get WiFi before brawl becomes out of fashion.

Hey anyone got any tips for me on Ivysaur?

I tested his fully charged U smash KO's bowser at 35 or 45. Either one.

Uncharged at like ~98.

What a beast ;)

I dont need a siggy no moar.

No, I mean it's ironic because he is the weakest character in the game. (Lowest priority is his main problem)

Don't use Ivysaur if you don't use all 3, but Usmash sucks. To get one to hit, you have to be extremely good at predicting your opponent... (something I boast in :) )

Ivysaur... I'm not really sure, but he has an extremely good anti-air game.

Falcon isnt 'weak' in strength, speed or anything. He was kinda overpowered in melee with the speed of falcon punch and his strength and speed, but when someone overpowered comes back they're almost always underpowered.

But yeah his priority is very bad. His falcon punch is the same as Yoshi's egg-roll thinger.

I think his highest priority attack is falcon kick. :(

And for ivysaur, I was testing something. (only on CPU so I know this almost completely fails on Player v player games), if you hit a neutral b (bullet seed), and just time it right you can hit an upsmash.

Oh and Kent, snake is extremely cheap. He has longrange attacks, though very easily avoided, are mindgames and in 3/4 people games can easily change the setup. Same with his down 'smash' and down b attacks. Snake is tricky itself.

Err and if I'm not mistaken, people with skill could probably easily use Falcon if they got used to his lame priority.

Last but not least, can someone link me to the latest matchup list?

I dont need a siggy no moar.

You know why falcon has most losses and mk has most wins?

Not just because of priority, because of the amount they're used. The amount of people = more pros, which are mostly the people who play proper tourneys.

It does kinda annoy me how I hate meta.

*spam spam spam*

*stall stall stall*

his usmash fails too :?

You're half right there, although the SBR would beg to disagree. I can't imagine Ken ever turning up to a SSBM tournament like a noble crusader playing as Yoshi, winning a few matches through skill, and losing against a better character just to improve Yoshi's tier list ranking. He'd come as Falco and win.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I kinda find i hard how people are so well known for using one person. Wow, they can use one person, maybe another person. That doesnt make them as great as people say.

Plus, most of the highly regarded people I've heard of use easy or powerful characters. ;)

Anyways, in teams, do people from the same game have a type of chemistry with eachother?

And do people who have their own areas better on those areas naturally, or are they naturally better on a different stage?

Exactly. As SSBB goes when it comes to competition, it isn't actually that complicated, no matter what those at the top of the Smash community might say. They like to get all technical and mask that fact that you can easily get by in this game only using two characters (and with MK, some might argue only one character).

I don't know of any competitive sport that two-dimensional. That's why this game's still only giving $5K prizes, and hardly any professionals are sponsored by big companies.

I pretty much agree on that but I cant go into detail, Im tired and this is my last post for the night:

How laggy is WiFi if going from say, Australia -> England? ( :P )

I'm trying to think of a character to take over my fail-mario, but I cant seem to find one. I like Ness. Especially his b air, but just cant do his up b as a recovery attack properly. (so thats a no for lucas too).

If anyone minds naming a few people I might try to learn them.

They have to be semi-speedy, if too slow I lose my falcon/toon link .."skill", and have to have nice air attacks. And hopefully a [bleep]e :-#

Anyway, night.

P.S. People are sponsored to play this game!?

I dont need a siggy no moar.
