I will not be going to Warhammer, doesn't seem like my kind of game. I'll have to find something new

Well don't dismiss it so early, and this may not be an MMO, but a FPS, but it's fun to pass the time (Combat Arms). ::'

Yeah, Combat Arms is pretty fun. Two other good free FPS's would be America's Army and Warsow.

Tabula Rasa (MMOFPS) is really fun too so far. I don't know how much there is to do at max level, but it's a fun leveling experience so far.

Of course I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you play solo. I've been playing it with a group of 4-5 others and just having a blast. Towns in this game (Capture points) constantly get attacked by aliens and can get taken over (in which you can take it back). Awesome fun hopping between towns and [cabbage] defending them and good XP  .

With skatedog on this, I would give it a shot. The latest videos and such of it have really shaped up (lighting effects in place and such) and it looks wonderful for a game that isn't rough on system specs.

Plus the PvP sounds wonderful. That and Josh Drescher is much easier to watch in interviews then the dude from Funcom.

AA and Warsow are also very fun FPS's as well, but I prefer CA. =P

I'll look into Tabula Rasa though, will read things about it, and see what I think of it. =P

Killing these that keep on coming every so often seems to draw me in. =)

You noticed that too? I swear I laugh every time I hear about the Funcom interviews/videos. Just picturing the guys voice...lol.

My favorite interview with him is when he's talking about the cities or something. It seriously went like this:

"Uhhhh so the cities... .uhhh they will be able to have... uuhhhhh uhhhh..... uhhhhh. .... uhhhh NPCS walking around them"

He seriously could not think of the goddamn acronym 'NPC' as a [bleep]ing game developer. I'm not exaggerating the uhh's either.

Josh Drescher (WAR guy) is actually really enjoyable to watch an interview with. He's really excited about the game and doesn't really fill it with a ton of PR speak.

IDK how the end game is, but man it's fun to level in and I figure it'll hold my attention for 2 months or so until WAR is out.

Oh crap, the same kind of description pre-june 5th of AoC, fun to level, no idea about endgame...=P

This is actually more fun to level though. Like, I had fun 1-50ish or so leveling the first time but man 60-80 sucks.

Plus TR is really fresh as far as MMOs go.

Is the futuristic, or alien theme what makes it fresh compared to the medieval themes that MMO's usually focus around? Or what?

That and its an MMOFPS instead of the normal thing of swinging around a sword and stuff. Well, really its more of a third person shooter then first person, but you get the idea.

Combat is really fast paced too.

I, and the majority of my guild are done with this game. The end-game content sucks, and they bug raid bosses with every patch.

Most are going to Aion, and trying the Perfect World Int Beta which I'll also try. Aion doesn't look like my thing though. Trying to find info on that Tabula Rosa, can't find an official site yet, it sounds fun though.

My options seem limited atm, I'm waiting on Huxley and WAR reviews, and more gameplay vids of Aion.

And if anyone gives a damn heres what my demo looked after 2-3 weeks of raiding:

t2helm.jpg

That is, as far as I know, the first t2 demo helm in the game so far. But yea, that's the T2 helm, Bracers, Shoulders which you can't see, and the chest. Also the t1 staff on the back.

WAR looks INCREDIBLY similar to WoW....

Yeah... that has a little something to do with warcraft copying the warhammer style so many years ago when they made warcraft 1. WAR is going to be further away from WoW then Age of Conan was, to be honest. It's a completely different focus and the game developers shun the people on their team from playing WoW as to not get "corrupted" by its ideas.

WoW doesn't really have any unique ideas, they just took everything good out of the others MMO's and put them in WoW, only less buggier, and all in one place.

Not sure why you aren't just using all crafted gear (well, unless the nerf hit it really hard). Pre-nerf they dominated raid epics.

Damage gems, as in elemental, or physical gems, weren't hit at all. Only invul's were.

Crafted gear for your class looks like crap, lol.

Is legendary gear in the game, or not? Never seen orange?

And insane that guy is going into space..

Yeah but i mean just watching early videos on youtube and stuff it looked like wow save a few little things. Graphically wise at least. Eh i gotta do some reading.

I wish i could make my own MMO.

That's my raid outfit. Raid gear has heroic stats with is very very helpful in raids.

1. Can't download, but that's probably due to my lousy internet connection.

2. If I manage to download it, apparently I'll get an error, due to my location.

Anyway, does this mean you'll be playing Brawl again? :D

You know, there's probably work arounds for those problems...

Probably, I'll just wait until I get back though. And I didn't bring my mouse, I'd probably get pwned in any FPS.

Perfect World and Aion are going to be free, right? (I know PW is...) The Taiwanese version is out (For PW), I saw an ad for it yesterday, on the street. Yes...They have video game ads on the street here. I see WoW ones every block. I might try it, might as well practice my Chinese.

I'm going to wait on WAR, has a release date been announced? (I have a feeling one was posted, I don't remember though) I'll probably wait until Christmastime to decide.

Where are you then?

Regardless, I'm glad I live in NA, usually get the first release dates.

Yeah and games like rockband take like 7 months to release in europe and are double the price.

Screw you developers who dont even think about the european market :x

conanpurplerain.jpg

Something strange has happened over the last few days in Hyboria. The first we knew of it was when a forum post suggested Funcom take a look at their loot tables, because certain mobs were dropping a heck of a lot more purple loot than they were (presumably) supposed to. The poster backed this up by providing a screenful of blue and purple items garnered in a very short space of time.

Word got out, as it inevitably does. It seems the Beguiler Demons in Poitain were bugged: their loot table was so skewed that soon any level 75+ character that wanted to could go and stock up on epic drop after epic drop. They're not the best gear in the game by far, but it was pretty clear that a purple item is supposed to be a lot rarer than this. Personal inventories and traders alike were soon overflowing.

As of this morning's small patch, a fix has been put in place: 'Altered the loot table of the Beguiler Demons in Potain so they are now dropping more appropriate loot.' Several days' worth of wanton purple looting has already taken place, so this is a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has... well, not so much bolted as seduced your wife, stolen the family silver, drunk all your cognac, smoked your cigars, lost interest and ambled off.

Even better, the comments:

Cmon, it's not THAT big a deal, is it? A mob gave good loot for a bit and they fixed it.

Geez, just about every MMO I have played has had that happen.

Nadril said...

Yeah, not that big of a deal guys. A mob dropped epics with an insanely high drop rate, effectively screwing up the economy even more and overflooding it with items, draging the price way down. This happens everywhere!

[bleep] do you even read what you're typing dude? Goddamn Funcom fanboys are ridiculous.

LMAO... "Funcom fanboys" yeah right. You can't handle that some people like the game, so you just assume that they must be illogical and incoherent people and do your best to label them as 'drones' and some kidn of isolated community.

Come back when you finish high school please.

They still will not update the barbarian's DPS. It has dropped under 30% and no one is doing anything about it. Read our petition:

If you can post on the forum, please sign it. Almost half of the people that found out they nerfed the barbarian's dps have cancelled. Stupid funcom will NEVER listen to the customers...

I think all of you here are a little misguided about the MMOs on the back-end. You have to grow up a little and understand what is involved in making a MMO. For investors, 5 years of development means no revenue! They only care about money and not your stupid game. The suits upstairs are pushing! ALL of MMOs will come out in beta state simply because of deadlines and pressure from investors. Then while it is out and generating money you can take you time in finishing it and balancing it. Again this will happen to EVERY MMO! Best is not to jump in until year later or be an adult and understand that when you get into an MMO when it first come out you are playing BETA.

I actually want Age of Conan to fail now just so other gaming companies will learn that you can't pull of [cabbage] PR tactics and lie to your customers and get away with it.
