Nadril
Awesome that bugs like that can make it through. Hah, wonder if you're banned. Me and the group of guys I roll(ed) with in AoC are all going over to WAR when its out. Until then we're making a dream team white sands gank group because, honestly, that PvP is more fun then PvP at 80. Right now we have 4 necros...5 if the other guys Necro is bellow 25. Nadril
You're going to drop level 15s like turkeys on thanksgiving...Awesome. :) Pretty much :D . Also I think any future MMOs I play I won't write a review for, or at least not until I've played it for like 6+ months. I mean when I wrote the review for AoC the game was seriously more stable then it is now. I'd crash rarely and all that jazz. Plus I had plenty of quests to do, ect ect. Nadril
I cant understand how quickly your oppinions on AoC have changed. They cant have lost support this quickly ?? I've been as patient as I can for fixes. For content, for bug fixes, for fixing the crippling memory leak issue... and I'm just tired of waiting. Am I a hypocrite? Maybe, but it doesn't even matter now. I always ignore a lot of issues whenever I play a game, and focus on the positives. I focused on the fun world PvP (although atm it's only large guilds mass ganking now instead of the smaller group afairs scattered around) and how the game looked. I focused on the idea that I enjoyed the lore. But I ignored several things for too long. The crippling memory leak which has gotten progressively worse every patch. The servers that, while smooth as [cabbage] for the first few weeks, now constantly D/C the entire instance which seems to happen every hour or so. The bugs in the game which, admittedly aren't HUGE all the time, but still pile up very quickly. It's not that there is bugs in the game, or crashes and stuff either. I mean, I can even put up with that [cabbage] (however much there is) to a point. I put up with it in Hellgate:London and I put up with it in the numerous private servers I've played in the past. The problem is that Funcom seems oblivious to it's actual problems because they keep patching content no one gives a [cabbage] about. Most of the player base has hit 80 and is just leveling alts due to boredom. Yet instead of focusing on higher level content FIRST Funcom does it [wagon]-backwards, and works their way up through the levels. They decided that it is seemingly more important to Give us a better Black Castle and Pyramid of the Ancients that, well, most players end up doing maybe once and that is it. They ignore the fact that there are many parts of the game which leveling is purely party based. Now, I am fine with this but the problem is that the leveling content for like 74-80 is in one small area that only supports 1 group at once. Throw in the fact that this is AoE based, so that classes such as a ranger are completely useless to it and have a much harder time leveling. It's not that I had a hard time leveling either, my ToS leveled stupid fast as did my HoX (who is just 78). The problem is that there were numerous times where I would log in game and stupidly twiddle my thumbs shouting "78 hox LF DM grind" over and over and over. I got more enjoyment out of playing FFIV on my DS then trying to get my HoX to 80 for [bleep]s sake. Then Guild problems just didn't help at all. When I started I joined [The Family Buisness] which was a great guild which had people I knew from my old WoW server. However shortly it ended going from like 50+ active members down to 7. We tried to do what we could in [TFB] but ultimately we were stunted by the game mechanics to what we could do as a guild. So we decided to join another guild. We joined [Xen of Onslaught] first and got to witness a DM grind with them. They got destroyed in PvP, we had people shouting, and it just wasn't fun at all. Then they had a horrible raid (which I refused to take a part of) and their officer (who sounded like [bleep]ing 15) was yelling at everyone. Meh. So we joined [Pandora's Mighty Soldiers] and thought we had hit it good. They had some T1 content done and seemed pretty good. Problem was, well, they wern't. And aside from that we had more guild drama inside the guild which involved a few people leaving. Plus, well, the guild [bleep]ing didn't do anything. As [TFB] us 7 probably did more in a [bleep]ing day then this guild did in a week. Of course we couldn't now due to the Apprentice system nerf, but still Pandora's was just unorganized and just an orgy of other guilds. The fact is is that if my guild was awesome, did PvP constantly and all that I would probably wait out AoC more. In World of Warcraft I ended up staying in the game much after I started to dislike it solely due to the fact that my guild mates were [bleep]ing awesome and I had a lot of fun with them. It didn't matter if I disliked raiding and that PvP in WoW was nothing but an e-peen fueled item grinding mini game because my guild was cool. I just got tired. I've been thinking about saying "[bleep] this" for probably a month or more now, but just stuck with it due to the PvP patch dangling in front of me like a goddamn carrot on a stick. In due time Funcom may fix their [cabbage], but right now I just can't be bothered. I've played Private Lineage II servers which have had more stable servers then AoC. So that is my reason. Sorry for a long post, but I wanted to explain my reasoning. The fact is is that I'm very forgiving when it comes to certain game mechanics which may not be fleshed out yet. I gave Hellgate:London about a month or so before kicking it, and because I liked Anarchy Online so much I gave Age of Conan more of a shot then what I thought. Of course, the problem and the catch is that the higher you get up the worse the content really seems. Levels 1-40, when you count out any sort of bugs or lag issues, are pretty [bleep]ing smooth and good from a PvE perspective. I would even wager that most of 40-50 is pretty fun, but in all honesty after that its just like watching a trainwreck in slow motion. I'm still going to be [bleep]ing around on white sands or so for another month (or w/e) until my sub runs out but I won't be playing it beyond that. I know my posts have gotten really harsh over the past few days versus the game, and I just want to say that I love the concept of the game but hate its execution. There needs to be a lot of work done.
Vidi
I feel the same really. Was a great game 1-80, enjoyed it quite alot. Then once you hit 80 there is nothing apart from raiding and PvP, and if you don't like PvP and/or raiding, there's either 1 or 0 things to do. And the "go gather then" is just silly, it's boring after 3 hours of doing it. All I log on is to raid and maybe get a few thousand exp on my alt. I'm seriously considering WAR when it comes out even though I'm not really intrested it in at all as I'd rather stay with AoC, but the lack of content is just pathetic. And they break raid bosses with every patch, I can live with the small little glitches, but when they fiddle with WORKING bosses every week and making them either impossible, or just stupid and make it so there's even less end-game content, it's just really, really annoying. I'm praying, begging that the next patch focuses on end-game content alot. I'm giving this game another month or 2 to see what WAR's reactions are, and if AoC hasn't improved, and WAR is getting good reviews, it's WAR for me, if WAR gets bad reviews, I'll be looking at some of the older MMO's that are already well established (EG: GW, WoW (ugh) etc) (15:14:25) <Vidi> Peter likes barbie xD (15:14:30) <Peter> totally (15:14:46) <Peter> I've got all the accessories
krisc6
great post nadril and vidi.Nadril you did complain about how wow is so end game orientated but it sounds like AoC hasnt really focused on it...Sadly it could be a few months before they can turn it all around and rectify issues because of the way content is generated and by the time that hits they could have blown it. For WoW it's not so much that it is end game oriented as the end game in it is kind of boring.

Just thinking of the 3-5 months from now, if they have started working on new endgame, or any new content at all (that is enjoyable more than once) how low the player base will be... Orpheus
I'll probably unsub in a bit. I've gotten tired of the bugs and they were alright at first, now I'm hitting lag [bleep]es every 30 seconds or so. The memory leaks keep getting worse, and I'm tired of it. There were very little leaks/lag [bleep]es when I started, now look at it... The game's no longer fun anyhow. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. Nadril
I'm giving tabula Rasa a shot right now with my friends I played AoC with, very fun game so far and a good change of pace. ThurinEthir
Time to jump into this thread I guess, as it dies... Quite a pity, AoC had a lot of potential. Too bad Funcom screwed it over. I was considering getting it sometime soon, don't think I will anymore... -.- I'm still grasping that last bit of hope though, that Funcom will do something amazing... I'm playing Combat Arms, a FPS. It's good to pass the time I suppose. Hah, I would playing Combat Arms right now, except for the fact that Nexon doesn't support Taiwan. :wall: Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. nine naked men
I unsubscribed my account and sold it to a friend today. I've been playing it for a while on my new PC, and my characters disappear every once in a while. Around level 20ish. Maybe it's a glitch or something, but still, I'm also getting massive lag, probably because of the server distance, but I've tried on all types of servers. Still, I only lost $10 in the course of the whole ordeal. I think FC is kicking itself right now. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
InkofDeath
levels 1 to 50 are worth the monthly payment, but not the first payment ($50). Just thought I'd say that... @Penguin; What do you mean, doesn't support? As in you can't download the client from the main site because of your location? Or what...? arizark
I've been kinda bored of this game for a long time and my main is like level 42 haha, WoW really soured my MMO experience and I just turned 18 so I have been out partying like 18 year old should  I doubt I'm gunna resubscribe especially now after seeing everyone who hits level 80 cursing the game haha. I might of given this game a chance if I wasn't so picky about the little and big bugs I have to deal with daily but I think from now on I'm not going to touch any more MMO's for a good year or so and then I'll see where I can go from there. Kriegsmier
I'm in the same boat many of you are in. I probably won't be playing much longer myself. Same reasons. I constantly disconnect, have graphical bugs, major server lag [bleep]es especially in town, etc. Like said above, the concept is amazing, the execution is now poor. We'll have to see what the future brings. I will not be going to Warhammer, doesn't seem like my kind of game.
