Dragon sq shield worth it?

Featured Replies

I'm becomming memb 4 first time ever. I was wondering if i should buy either obby shield or drag sq.

drag sq is pretty expensive at my lvl, and i still need to do all the required quests  , gain 68 more quests points   and up 174 more lvls before i meet the requirements

should i go head and aim for dragon sq or should i settle for obby...

here are my non memb stats that r combat and legends quest related

65 att

66 str

65 def

66 hp

50 range

43 pray

55 mage

27 craft

62 mine

45 smith

63 wc

all other memb lvl required are 1

all advices would be welcome

Im 117, and I find I use obby shield more. Dragon sq has like +8 more defensive stats, but -15 more range stats. I use obby shield a lot, but then again I only use shields at dks.

I'd stick with an obby shield, that works just fine. The defender or a prayer book works fine too.

The only reason I use a dragon square is because I got a shield half drop. Even then, purchasing the other half of the shield costs something like 700k from the Legend's Guild.

I don't think it's worth it if you haven't done the quests.

It's Rune defender. Secondly, obby shield gives +5 str, just like a Rune defender. However, I would stick with the rune defender for it's slash bonuses...

By the way, D sq's are useless.

i'll think about the defender. I'm more of a safe type of person so i would pefer a shield... :| And i also don't know how long it usually takes to get a rune def, including time for tokens

The defender is worth it, when going after monsters of lower level then yourself, it really give your attacks a punch. Take the time, the drops and exp are worth it, even prior to charm drops.

Now, if you are fighting an equal level or higher, a d-squire is the way to go.

The main problem I have with the obby is that its price vs protection isn't worth it. It literally isn't much better then a rune kite.

c thats what i think as it is so expensive i might as well just use my berserker. anyway i was wondering how long it takes to get a rune defender from the cyclopes, counting the time i have to spent to get the tokens to go in there.....

No. The amount of work you would have to do to be able to wear a dragon sq would be a waist. A rune kite has better melee defence then an obby shield, but the obby does have +5 str bonus. Another option is the rune defender, which has +5 str along with +20 stab, +19 slash, +18 crush, but with less then half of the defence of a rune kite. It's up to you what you would prefer: Lots of defence with a rune kite, a bit less defence and a bit more attack with an obby shield, or bad defence but good attack with a rune defender (keep in mind it takes a bit of work to earn in). Disregard the beserker because it wears out too quickly to be efficient.

The defence is actually worse. It gives 5 str bonus however which makes the rune kite useless compared to obby shield.

Whoa, 5k tokens is 2m in rune gauntlets. If ask the fog shop guy to wear them all out and then dump them in the GE and you won't have to worry about the cost of an obby sheild. Buy an obby cape and dragon boots while your at it. Get yourself a rune defender when you have the time though.

i bought my d [] to use specially for castle wars =P cause it has little or no negative mage bonus...i sometimes use it against nechs too as these can hit really hard even with torag...i would suggest using rune def on easier monsters and d sq on tougher ones...obby shield is a bit of a mix between rune def and d []...

maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cooking

life may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?

my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it

I know you probably bust a lot of money on skills etc, but with your combat stats, shouldn't you have a DFS by now? It's like...amazing for castle wars. You probably have your reasons, I'm just curious :P

There really is a simple way to look at this. You can buy an obby shield. You can't buy the dragon shield. Get an obby shield.

Don't worry about the dragon shield. Just have fun in runescape, and do what you feel like doing. Before you know it you'll have the req's for d square.

I personally find that I always end up using either my zammy prayer book or my rune defender. Or an anti-dragon shield when I go green dragon hunting.

"The best defence is to stay out of range" - French proverb

Bad luck happens. Learn and get over it.

if 700k is too expensive for you, use an obby shield. sure, the defence is lower then a rune kite, but the range def, and the str makes up for it and it's one of the best shields to use at monster hunting.

The time is good spend when you get a rune defender. Although it might take a hell of a time. I went too cyclopses and used over 4K of tokens before I ever had a bronze defender. Prepare for the worse but expect the best.

dfs is way way way way way beyond my reach as i only got bout 800k worth of stuff that i can live without and i really don't want to spend my tokens for the money as i always use my rune berserker in bh and i'm always at bh when im not at fog #-o
