Roseiah
I like looking good in real life, I like wearing nice clothes. So this comes into play in Runescape. Every outfit I wear goes together, I don't really care how much it cost, but if it looks nice and I'm happy with it. I feel weird making my character wear clothes I feel are terrible. My character represents me and their clothes represent them. I am quite happy sometimes to just run around in nothing but the original clothes, but even then, white desert boots are a must because they are so cool. Clothes in real life represent me, so I am perfectly fine with my characters clothes representing them and looking good.
De_Lille_D
Even party hats can be usefull, you know? It's not because an item doesn't have any direct or physical advantages, it might have social advantages (like wearing a tuxedo to get into a fancy party). Wearing a Santa might persuade others to respect you, which could lead to other advantages. there's more to these items than meets the eye. Personally, I don't really care about those social advantages and I'd rather see them disappear. You'll never see me wearing such a ridiculous mask (haloween or animal), just because they look good ... It all boils down to: how much do you value the importance of what other people think? It's the answer to this question that'll mainly determine, what you wear, where you go and how you act. Ps: You asked "why wear tassets?". Well, because they have a strength bonus ;) . db300
I don't go out of my way to look "good" in game or in rl. It isn't really that big of a deal for me, and I generally don't like wearing expensive clothes. What I wear to school generally costs anywhere from $15 - $25. I know how to look good in cheap clothes though (people are actually copying my style a little), and I don't really get why people wear more expensive clothing in game or in rl. dudius
It's not worth it because in the end, you're playing Runescape, and playing Runescape, imo, doesn't make you look good.
Skull
If "looking good" comes at the cost of reduced stats or being less effective then no. If you buy a dfs but then the only weapon you can afford is a rune scimitar, then it's not worth it. But if you can afford a god sword, bandos armour, a whip, an ss, and whatever else you need, then why not buy the dfs too? A good example of this is whe I was p2p I spent my money (not all of it of course) on torags, a whip, nd a black mask. But now that I'm f2p, I can afford to spend my money on less needed things, such as the guthix rune I bought. vivimancer
Some of the best outfits(in my opinion)are the cheapest and easiest to obtain. It's all a matter of opinion and taste. True, we all seem to want to be different. To show the world and ourselves what makes us stand out of the crowd, what is our unique selling point that seperares us from 'them,' irl we do this mostly with our actions but since runescape is so synthetic, what we look like gives most of the pointers to what sort of person we are. Ok, so shoot me I saved up and bought a full saradomin set because of the exclusivity, not because of its price tag but the warm satisfied feeling I get when no-one else at the training spot is wearing the same thing. Danno385
If you are saying like zammy then yes it is worth it for F2pers but if you are a member there are better armours to gain. If you are talking like santas then that is only if you have your perfect weapon/armour already. Here is my opinion:Get the best you can, then the best and best looking, then extra items such as phats or santas. In fact, I do have some pancake mix. funnisam
i have quite a poor setup myself (zgs, torag helm, torag body, fury, regen bracelet, d boots, d legs, warrior ring and atk cape), but i have all the parts for a reason. The d legs not only match the cape i wear, but also give more melee def bonus than a pair of tassets (which i can afford). saying you have d legs to look less poor is not an excuse to have them. they have better defence bonuses, which is the main reason why anybody would use them. ps. from the original post about $20 on a shirt, i recently paid £35 for a t shirt (around $60), on top of which i paid £20 postage and packaging (making the t shirt around $90 in total cost). thats fine for me because i wanted it and it looks good. but not everyone will be willing to spend that on a t shirt. (note i also spent around $40 on 1 pair of boxers #-o ) Most Difficult Quiz Rare drops; tzhaar-ket-om: 6 tzhaar-xil-ak: 4 tzhaar-xil-ek: 4 tzhaar-mej-tal: 1 Obsidian cape: 18 Dragon Plateskirt: 4 Dragon Platelegs: 7 Sq Shield left half: 1 Dragon Boots: 1 Dragon Medium Helmet: 11 Draconic Visage: 1 Zamorak Spear: 3 Steam Battlestaff: 1 Godsword Shards: 3 Bandos Chestplate: 1 Bandos Tassets: 1 Abyssal Whip:
