Tickets for the London event, which will take place at Hyde Park, will be given out via a lottery on June 6. Tickets for the other venues--Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, Philly's Museum of Art, Rome's Circus Maximus, and a venue in Paris to be announced--will be distributed via a similar lottery system.

Getting tickets

Tickets for the LIVE 8 London concert in Hyde Park will be allocated via a text lottery. Each person that enters the lottery can obtain 2 tickets each by texting a special number. The text number will be announced at 8am on Monday 6 June 2005 via all UK Radio Stations & BBC Television.

Weird, doesn't appeal to me much at all. After a quick look the only band I care about at all from that list is REM.

EDIT: Just noticed Muse. They rule.

Dreaming of that face again

It's bright, and blue, and shimmering

Grinning wide

And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

With that amount of people and the lame 24 hours they decided to put in a day; I guess they'll do 4-5 songs each.

Long time no speak Legola5, hope youre keeping well

As for Live8, im gonna text in about 20 times :D Its worth it. Its a once in a lifetime thing, its not like Bob Geldof is gonna be up for it in another 20 years. Ive seen a lot of those bands before but the atmosphere there will be incredible.

Its mainly about awareness but they will still raise millions.

It costs ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1.50 per lottery text entry and you can text in however many times you want. At least ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1.6 million raised from the text competition will go to The Prince's Trust

Source: Official Live8 Site

They dont need to charge $50 (̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã20) because the bands and celebrities will be doing it for free. The only costs will be staging the actual event which will easily be covered by the millions of people expected to text in to get a ticket.

However, despite what ppl are saying this is not a charity event. The concerts will be FREE but they are not fundraisers and will be a rallying point for the largest political constituency ever mobilised to call for justice for Africa and the world's poor. They will focus the whole world's attention on the critical decisions to be made by the G8 four days later, decision that will change the world.
