Dragon armour for f2p!

Recommended Posts

Lets face it, dragon armour isn't exactly the best anymore (albeit boots and gloves). Dragon seems to be bought for its looks these days more then anything, and lower leveled players see it as a small step up from rune if they buy a dragon skirt/dragon med. The price of dragon is decreasing every week, as it seems dragon is longer bought by higher level players anymore, as we now have bandos, barrows and third age to get our hands on. Personnally I think I have a solution. Make dragon armour f2p (all except boots, gloves and halberd of course). This would make dragon aquireable again, as richer f2p players would then have a new goal to work towards to, and the price of dragon armour would increase pretty steadily. I don't however think that special attack should be given to f2p, as I really enjoyed the special attacks when I became a member, and it it something to look foward to in becoming a member.

So what do you think, would making dragon armour f2p be a good idea?

I wouldn't say it's a good idea.

Prices of dragon would shoot up beyond bandos, and then people would be expecting them to make Barrows F2P when a better armour comes out.

Think of the rants forums.

There's Drag full helm too. That's wanted by P2P people.

Hmmm, this is a difficult question. My answer would be no. I feel that dragon armour pieces are overpriced in the first place, the step up from Rune to Dragon isn't that significant despite the large cost difference. Rune armour pieces have been very low ever since GE came out, so upgrading to Dragon isn't worth it. F2Pers have other things to show off with, such as rares which have dropped quite a lot.

You have a point, Maybe we should keep some dragon items out of f2p (like the d2h, d full, maybe even the d chain) Maybe just let them settle with med, skirt, and legs. (of couse this would unbalance f2p bh a lot as it would be dominated by dragon longswords.)

what about the quests needed to wear dragon items?

I don't think there are any actually. (keep in mine wearing and wielding are different things.)

Wouldn't be so bad. But would f2p be allowed to acquire them themselves from npcs?

CANE

Just to be different.

Think about it. A freaking Dragon Cane with a Dragonstone gem.

The spec will simply your character equiping a glove and beachslapping the enemy, who will break down and do the Cry emote for 10 seconds straight.

F2p is a demo for p2p which is the full game. Still I see no harm in giving them a little dragon items.

Don't really see the need to be honest. It's not like there are high level monsters to kill in F2p so the update would only really benefit PKer's and bring a hail of abuse from RSOF's.

1. The question is not, wether its a good idea or not.

2. Dragon is still widely worn as it is ecellent armour and does not need repair like barrows.

3. If high level Players on F2P find new achievements in F2P it stops them from becoming members. Jagex's policy is that an F2P Player, no matter what skill he uses, finally gets to a point, where there is nothing more to do or achieve in F2P so thet he/she has to become a member.

As less members mean less money there is no way dragon Items will EVER be F2P.

Also all the ways to obtain Dragon items (exept for trading other players) are P2P - should the Kalphite Queen and Steel dragons be F2P too?

stop dreaming, become a member or quit

Imagine the moaning from F2P if they didn't release Dragon 2-Handers, but released everything else.

The moaning?

It's not like Jagex would see it.

If they really wanted to moan they'd get membership and complain about on forums.

Although that would give them access to everything anyway :D

we would be overrun with rants though

f2p already get more than enough for a FREE demo of runescape, they are never satisfied :wall:

OT: dragon for f2p would never work, because of quest requirements to use some items

I don't get why people refer to F2P as a demo - it's not. Runescape started out free - and still is. P2P is more like a HUGE expansion pack to the stream-lined original package.

If it was a demo - it would have either a trial period, or will disallow you from playing after a certain point - the F2P is a full game, because you can continue to play forever.

Asking for dragon armor is a bit much. It was in fact one of the key parts of getting membership for a while, and still remains that way even if it's not the best. I think rune is a decent enough cap limit for F2P.

No real support. It's always been a members thing and probably always will be.

I do not support. Jagex is already being generous enough make a demo of RuneScape free for anyone to play and even offering updates pretty frequently (this month is a jackpot in particular). F2P does not have very high leveled monsters to fight anyway so there is not much of a need for it. Also, who knows what it would do to the dragon armor prices?

Sounds like a stupid idea. A few reasons:

-What about the quests required to obtain dragon items?

-Most F2Pers do not have enough money for full dragon

-If you give F2Pers a part of the set, they'll scream for the rest of the set.

That is one reason why weapons probably won't end up to be unless the quest is changed or more areas are released which I doubt will happen.

Most of the P2P players do not have enough money for an Armadyl Godsword, but it was still released.

Umm, we aren't screaming for the Duel Arena Tournaments, when we got the duel arena. I think most of us would be happy with even parts of the set. I know I would, and only a few would "scream" for the rest of it.
