What a way to miss the point.

Final fantasy .. like it or not .. is classed as a series.

Due to the name

it makes peoples lives easier

And the 13 was an understatement ...

49 games .. don't EVER say halo milks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fi ... tasy_media

Halo milks the series cause it is creating games based on the same universe, composing of the same characters, with the same storylines.

Final Fantasy does not do this. Each game is set in a different universe, with different characters, with different stories, different themes, with different game plays.

The closest is FFVI. FFVII, FFVII:DC, FFVI:AC, FFVII:CC, FFVII:BC. Thats milking, but only of one Final Fantasy universe.

BTW, FFXIII games are all set in the same universe, but all of them have different characters and different stories, along with different gameplay. None have to do with each other really.

You call Halo milking with 3 games, and you call those 5 games only "close" to milking it.

There's one storyline in total. Three games continuing the story.

oh, and "Each game is set in a different universe, with different characters, with different stories, different themes, with different game plays."

Under ONE name. That's the definition of milking something. If each of those games could stand by itfself, Square would've titled them differently. But nope, fanboys buy them just because it has the words Final Fantasy in the beginning. The same way Nintendo [bleep] around the name Mario.

Along with the one story line, there are a multitude of books containing the same characters in the same universe. There is the Halo wars game.

The FFVII series only captures one story.

As for the name, it falls under the 'if its not broken, don't fix it thing'. We clearly know they are separate games. They just keep calling it Final Fantasy cause it works so well with the fans, why fix it?

With nintendo, every game called mario something, includes mario.

@Lionheart .. I should have explained better.

I mean square enix keep making the same type of games with a good story line all the time it gets really boring really fast.

Storylines are why people play Final Fantasy games, though XII was a bit of a let down.

Kingdom Hearts and The World Ends with You say hi. Two games made by Square Enix that could easily have been named "Final Fantasy" as well, and sold very well despite not carrying over the title... people do NOT just buy Final Fantasy games because of the name, they buy them because the games are fun, which is the same reason almost all of SE's games have sold well.

Which are 2 completely different styles of game.

FF Is a jrpg

KH Is an rpg type game

World Ends With You is made to fit the console.

What's the difference between a JRPG and a RPG? lol. They are the same. The only difference between the two sets of games is one contains Disney characters :P.

JRPGs are more linear, with most of the game being about the storyline and characters.

Standard RPGs are more customizable, allow you to do "anything" you want, and are less linear. The storyline isn't as important as it is in JRPG's. You usually play as some person trying to figure out what to do next.

No an RPG .. But there is a line between the 2 ...

The 360 version will be a port. It will have to be compressed losing graphical and sound quality, either that or on 6+ discs. 360 recently lost Bioshock to PS3 too though. This thread might become flamebait to fanboys of both systems, every thread on IGN has.

Bioshock.

-.-

Bioshock will be the same game or better because it wont need to be compressed like FF13 will for the 360. Final Fantasy 13 versus will be exclusive to PS3. -.-

They "lost" Bioshock? It's already on the PC.

And you act as if compressing your game is a bad thing. Sorry but Blue-ray does seem to make some developers lazy by not compressing audio and/or video.

Compressing results in loss of quality. You do make a good point about Bioshock, actually not a whole lot of games are 360 exclusive, games like GOW and Mass effect are available on PC.

Unless you compress it badly the quality lost is often times hardly noticeable. Look at the difference in quality from a Blue Ray movie and then a DVD. Chances are it will be hard to tell a major difference, certainly not one that would detract from the experience.

^^^^

QFT compressing do's effect quality but not to a point its detremental to the content, however bad compressing is.

Yeah thats what I said, it's not that noticeable.

eh i was disappointed at sqeenix for this decision

it was a good business decision because they'd sell millions more but still, it feels like sony got betrayed :-# where's the loyalty

it's not like dmc or gta because since 7, the main stream games of final fantasy were always released by ps1/2

what's the point in having either a 360 or ps3 if all the major games are for both

What?

It's not like the FF series is a Sony exclusive.

Of course none of the Sony fanboys cared when the franchise got stolen from Nintendo.

Just saying, it's not always been a sony thing.
