Seems a pretty good decision on the company's part.

I remember read something on Gamespot about its exclusive to Ps3 being in Question, guess that was right.

It'll get them more money, and people who want to play it won't have to fork out for a Ps3 if they own a 360.

As soon as my friend mentioned it would be a PS3 exclusive, I said 'It'll be on the 360.' Looks like I was right

I might give it a try. It looks decent, but after FF 12, I dunno. It was ok, but it could've been done much better.

wow nad thats fast. was only announced what.. 20 minutes or so ago?

I've got nothing left to do at work today, another 30 minutes or so until I get out and I'm pretty much F5ing Joystiq for their E3 coverage.

*sigh* at least I'm getting paid. :P

I doubt it'll do good in Japan though.

I own a PS3 and FF13 is one of the games I plan to buy. Many Xbox360 games don't interest me, and the majority are available on the PS3 anyway. So this news doesn't affect me.

Makes absolute no impact in Japan which is where this announcement would have reverberated the most.

heres what we know from the Squenix press conferance:

Its not announced on 360 in japan and Sony Japan have as we know exclusivity locked out on it in Japan.

FF versus 13 is again as far as we know exclusive to PS3, this could chnage if microsoft buys it off.

Ps3 is lead sku and Xbox 360 will be ported over.

The reason its going multiplat is because of Microsofts foothold over the gamers there aiming for which is North america.

Localization for the 360 sku will begin once the Ps3's is finished.

Sony loose exclusivity from what are the most fastidious publisher in the industry, this is a publisher which when they jumped on compact disc and playstation for the release of Final Fantasy 7 nintendo fanboys attempted to sabotage development.Final Fantasy is oneof THE games for japanese gamers along with Kingdom Hearts and being that it remains exclusive in japan sony are'nt loosing as much as they could and microsoft honestly gain nothing in a market they are begging to get into.Just to tell you how badly they've done with the xbox platform there still on the original shipment of xbox's and on 360 only just outsold xbox months ago.

Still this was what saved the most abysmal of conferances(i was moderating the Gamespot chatroom and the amount of comments over the movie game and xbox redesign were very explicit) and its probably the biggest announcement that i can think off.Sadly i think this is the end for 3rd party exclusivity which isnt protected via millions of dollars which is sad.I remember Sega publicly stating they would not put games n nintendo platforms because of heritage.

Oh and this is the first year doing E3 chat moderation taht its not at 3am in the morning =D>

It'll be released both on ps3 and 360 in North America and in Europe. In Japan, it's still ps3 exclusive.

I wish developers would code for the ps3 rather than code for the 360 then port it over to the ps3.. and I really wonder how much Microsoft paid them. I'm no fanboy, but it disappoints me that I have a ps3 and only a few of the games are using the full potential of it :[

I hope to hell versus XIII is on 360.. if it is, I'll go buy a 360 instead when I get a job (Then again, I need a release date first).

Quick question. I've never played any final fantasy game ever, I have no idea about the storyline or anything related. Would buying FFXIII still be worth it?

None of the FF games are related unless they contain the same number in their title. XIII has nothing to do with I-XII.

You are playing a whole new game.

XIII is a trilogy with 3 over games which all have an inter connected story arc

Square are calling it Fabula Nova Crystalis and it comprises of FFXIII, FFversus XIII and Final fantasy agito XIII which is a mobile game.

I was watching the squenix representatives get grilled over this and everything was how much money were you paid for this port.Microsoft are infamous with this snatching the DLC which Sony had pretty much wrapped up and Microsoft bought it for $50 million which is why there being questioned so much because Microsoft now has a history of this.Still no-ones seen the game actually running outside of squenix and i doubt we will for a while, final fantasy games usually come together in the last few months.

It doesn't matter how much Microsoft paid because they're getting what their customers wanted.

That's what they said for FFXIII too. :P

Wow.

Series not dead yet? Oo

Exactly what I'm thinking...13...? You can only go so far.

For the last. Darn. Time.

Final Fantasy is NOT a series.

Final Fantasy X - 2 is a sequel to X.

Final Fantasy XII RW is a sequel to Final Fantasy XII.

That's it. Other than that, the games are totally different, with different stories, different WORLDS most of the time, different characters, different game mechanisms, different combat system. They just happen to call it "Final Fantasy" all the time, that doesn't necessarily make it a sequel. Even the two examples above don't share combat systems or game mechanics. Hell, RW is a RTS while XII has a completely different combat system that no other game to my knowledge has used...

:wall:

What a way to miss the point.

Final fantasy .. like it or not .. is classed as a series.

Due to the name

it makes peoples lives easier

And the 13 was an understatement ...

49 games .. don't EVER say halo milks.
