Sports car comparrison

ok, almost all my life I've been fascinated on how cars and trucks work. but so i don't go off on a rant or life story, i'll go to the real topic.

so here it stands; Chevy Corvette VS Dodge Viper

Viper has its raw power and speed whereas the Corvette is a bit cheaper and has its reputation. so what do you think?

Corvette: 3

Viper: 5

I personally say Viper. because I love the way it looks and how can you not love a 8.4 liter V10? and also because I like a lot of the recent dodge vehicles, but older chevys are amazing.

here are both of the car's specs(stock):

Corvette; 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds - 6.0 L V8 - 400 hp and 400 ft·lb of torque - top speed of 198 mph(Z06, so its not really the stock speed) - price tag: starts at 47 thousand

Viper; 0-60 mph in 3.3 sec - 8.4 L V10 - 600 hp and 560 ft·lb of torque - top speed of 203 mph - price tag: starts at 88 thousand

also, if you are in love with another sports car, just say so! and if you can, please post a pic. (maybe some McLaurens? =P~ )

i couldn't care less about either of them. im an Aussie and im into cars i can own and use, not something i have to be a millionaire to afford and have no more fun than something a trillion times cheaper.

you cant go burning around the bush in a viper can u? whats the fun if you only have it as a statement to how rich you are and cant actually use it practicly?

im a big fan of datsun's (amazing car at an amazing price for there time), as well as early (not to early) holdens (chances are you will have to be Aussie to know who im talking about).

anything with a ford badge on it doesn't phase me an inch. they just dont seem to have that spirit in them, that feeling that makes you wanna cream your jeans when you see a really nice one, expessially the later model ones. my one exception to that is mustangs, i don't mind them

btw im 16, not 40. don't think im into all these old things cos im old myself.

as far as im concerned new cars are getting worse and worse, with all the dam emission laws and bull****. technically they are getting better. but they dont have that old fassion simplicity, which just makes it so much more lovable.

i would choose a blown datto over some blown super car anyday, unless i could sell the super car and use the money to buy the datto, in which case i would do that to keep the extra $$$

I'm not into sports cars, when I get some cash and sell my little carolla in a few years I'm going to get a hilux which is the car I want. When I get rich I might consider a hummer, nobody seems to have them in Australia. Though I guess my style would be different then.

i know what you mean. personally, i'm 14. and i am for a first car i'll probably get an old jeep or my dads 70s chevy 1-ton. the truck needs a lot of replacement parts (new carburetor, windsheilds, maybe a new engine, maybe a new transmission, and i'd have to take another look at to get everything.).

also, just because i'm 14 doesn't mean i don't know about cars and whatnot. i already know how to trive a manual and i have driven my dads jeep(manual) on the street w/o anyone in it. and my dad's truck around my family's field(manual - Dodge ram 2500; cummins diesel engine, this truck is massive for a pickup) w/o anyone in it twice. this was all with permission, of course.

I like them both, even though I wouldn't want one. But, of course, I'm a Chevy man, so Corvettes are my kinda sportscar. I'd much prefer a truck, though. And that's probably what I will be getting when I start driving, a fixer-upper-Chevy.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Wow you must pay lots of gas with those things.

I'm ok with my Toyota Echo, I can go much longer on 40L of gas (2 weeks to go work and 1 trip somewhere 1hour away :D).

If I'd have to choose in the cars you said, I'd go with neither, Chevy and Dodge brands are just crap nowadays, even if they were very good in the past. If I'd go for a sports car, I'd get a Toyota Celica, shame they don't make them anymore, and they cost less (for less power too I guess). I just like the style. I could choose the Supra too though.

Bah, both those cars are overpriced and overrated.

Now this is a car, costs 40,000 dollars roughly and handles / accelerates better than either of those cars. They might go faster, but on the average race tracks where there is corners and everything to take into account, this car would win by a lot.

When two cars are compared via a race, it's generally a drag race.

If I had to pick, I'd say the Viper would win but I'm more likely to own a Corvette in the future. They're just more affordable than a Viper and they still turn heads.

Give me a Shelby Mustang GT500 "super snake" over either choice, ANYDAY. Not as fast off the start, but pushing 725hp must be worth something. 725hp upgrade kit from the factory. At 600hp this car had 590lb Torque....so 725hp? $70kish for the 725hp and no warranty.

If i had to choose between those 2 though, the viper. I hate corvettes. I'd rather own a 69 Camaro personally if i were going Chevy.

Viper = win, mmkay? Seriously, the first time I saw one I wanted it more than any other car. It's a beast of a car (compared too other off-the-line cars), and it doesn't look too bad either. Plus I'm not really a fan of Corvettes, the look or anything else (although the price isn't too bad).

TBH I'd much rather have a bike though, and some cheap car (maybe a Mustang? <3:) for if it's raining or I cba to ride the bike).

[hide=Funny Quotes]

So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? Good job.
What scares me is that you're like 10 years old.
-.- im not that freaking young
You were a couple years ago.
It's not racist if its true.
Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k

The mental image for that is freaking awesome.

dude... for the past 2 years, I've been in love with 1st gen Camaros. I've even made a goal to buy a fixer-upper one and make it the ultimate off-road vehicle. then I Google'd '4x4 Camaro' and i found what is now my avatar \' .

I've been a Vette person my whole life; my father, uncles etc have owned 'em and been generally nuts about them for decades. It kinda passed on to me...but as far as realistic sport cars go, I do love Datsun/Nissan. My first car was a Nissan 240sx, but ended up selling it after I picked up a fixer-upper Datsun 240z. I spent a few years making it run better and look prettier, then sold it (needed something more reliable) for another (newer) 240sx. Cheap, fun cars.

have to agree there!

ive got a 180B sedan myself, well i didn't pay for it but i call it mine (im on me L's). Me and my dad actually got 2 when my grandpa moved into a home and he had to sell his house and most of his stuff, one of which my dad fixed up for him years ago.

the good body was a auto so we put the recon motor (my dad done years ago) and manual box into the good body from the other one and fixed everything up. its sweet. the other one is sittin in the shed fully stripped with everything off it sittin in it lol.

we also picked up sss twin su's off ebay (originally from the sss coupe). the inlet ports are different sized for them then the standard carby's, we've got another head though so were gunna bore the ports and clean it up and put it on.

its gunna absolutely go off then! cant wait.

at school we've also got like 8 1200's motors that we fix up in auto. its awesome as.

ill post some pics one day.
